"Charged more than agreed, no invoice, no response"

I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Mainphar.

After placing my order and making payment, Mainphar never sent me an invoice as other companies normally do. Instead, they withdrew 68.13 EUR from my account, even though the agreed price was only 51.14 EUR.

I contacted Mainphar multiple times requesting an invoice, shipping details, and a refund of the overcharge, but they never replied.

The product eventually arrived, but it was shipped by a different company, and the enclosed invoice showed 52.99 EUR. This still doesn’t explain why I was charged 68.13 EUR.

In the end, I paid about 17 EUR more than agreed, with no explanation, documentation, or communication from Mainphar. This feels dishonest and unacceptable.

I strongly caution others against ordering from this company until they prove they can act with honesty, transparency, and proper customer service.
Even if Mainphar later provides some form of explanation, it does not justify their actions. According to EU consumer protection law, specifically Directive 2011/83/EU on Consumer Rights, the price agreed at the time of the online purchase is binding. Any unauthorized change in price after payment, without the explicit consent of the consumer, is illegal.

Under Article 5 and Article 6 of this directive, the trader is obliged to clearly communicate the total price before the contract is concluded, and Article 19 specifically states that no hidden or additional charges may be imposed without the consumer’s express consent.

In my case, I agreed to pay €51.14, but was charged €68.13 without notice or approval. This is a clear violation of EU law and consumer rights.

Thank you for your lengthy reply, but unfortunately, it does not address the core issues in my experience. I stand by my statement that I was charged more than the amount shown and approved at checkout, and that this only became clear after receiving the product and after multiple attempts to get an explanation.

Facts:
• At checkout, the total amount shown and approved was €51.14.
• However, my bank account was charged €68.13 – without any prior notice or clear breakdown.
• I received no invoice with my order, no confirmation showing the full breakdown of the price, and only several days after delivery was I sent an invoice – which still only listed €52.99.
• Only after my complaint did you mention a “service fee” and shipping cost – neither of which were clearly itemised or visible at checkout.

EU Consumer Rights:

You refer to EU Directive 2011/83/EU – and you are right to do so, because it clearly states that:
• Under Articles 5 and 6, the total price including all fees and charges must be clearly communicated before the purchase is completed.
• Under Article 19, no hidden or additional charges may be imposed without the consumer’s explicit consent.

What I experienced was:
• A non-transparent pricing structure.
• A higher charge than what I agreed to.
• No invoice or explanation until I followed up several times.
• An invoice that still did not justify the total charged amount.

It is not enough to hide important pricing information in the Terms and Conditions or in website footers. Service fees and shipping costs must be clearly itemised and visible in the total amount at checkout, and the consumer must actively approve the final amount before payment. That did not happen in my case.

It seems like you’re trying to shift the blame to the customer instead of taking responsibility for a purchase process that lacks transparency. I am not trying to damage your reputation – I am warning other consumers and reminding you that EU consumer law is designed to protect buyers, not sellers.

I stand by my review and sincerely hope that in the future you will ensure greater transparency, automatic invoicing, and a clear total price before checkout, as required by law.

I always take a screenshot of my checkout page before completing any online purchase — including this one. My screenshot clearly shows a total of €51.14. I even sent this screenshot to you by email, but it was ignored.

We would like to comment on the published negative review, as it contains a number of false claims. Transparency and customer trust are very important to us, so we will explain point by point where the information in the review is not accurate.

Lie №1.
The reviewer edited their original version, which contained even more blatant inaccuracies. We have a copy of the original review and are ready to provide it as evidence if necessary.

Lie №2.
It is technically impossible to place an order without the customer agreeing to our Terms. These clearly state that delivery is made from Germany and include a separate line showing our service fee of €15.00. All links to the Terms and Conditions are openly available in the website footer.

Lie №3.
The review claims we “charged €15 afterwards.” This is technically impossible. We do not offer subscriptions and have no way to charge additional amounts after payment. The total amount is fixed and shown on the website before redirecting to Stripe for payment.

Lie №4.
The statement that “no invoice was provided” is false. Our official invoice from BBOX (MAINPHAR.COM) is available to every customer directly in their Stripe account immediately after payment. Upon request, we also sent the customer a link to this document again.

Lie №5.
The claim that “the company did not respond to emails” is untrue. We replied to all of her messages. We explained where to download our invoice and clarified that charging without the customer’s consent is technically impossible. Nevertheless, the review was not removed.

Lie №6.
The review states that the final price “changed after payment.” This is false. The order price is calculated before confirmation. The customer saw the total amount on the website and agreed to it; only after that was the payment processed via Stripe.

Lie №7.
The pharmacy invoice (€52.99) indeed reflects the supplier’s purchase price of the product. Our €15.00 service fee is listed separately and was agreed to by the customer when placing the order. This complies fully with EU transparency requirements.

Lie №8.
The review misrepresents Directive 2011/83/EU. This law requires the total price to be disclosed before the contract is concluded. MAINPHAR.COM complies with this: the final amount is always displayed on our website before payment, and the customer explicitly confirms it.

Lie №9.
The statement that “the product came from another company” is misleading. We openly state that all medicines are purchased from German pharmacies. Therefore, the parcel always includes the pharmacy’s paper invoice. This is standard practice reflecting the structure of the transaction.

Lie №10.
The reviewer claims she “overpaid €17.” This is not correct. The total amount included our service fee of €15.00, which was clearly displayed before payment, as well as the DHL Standard shipping cost of €16.99 from Germany, which was also part of the order. These charges were fully transparent and agreed to by the customer during checkout.

Overall character of the review.
The review is misleading and creates the impression that we hide fees or change prices after payment. This is not true. All prices are transparent, invoices are provided, and communication with customers is maintained at all times.

My order has not been shipped for 18 days now. I have not been given any specific delivery dates. They respond to emails with a delay of several days. They do not help with orders at all in the chat on the website.
