Do not buy this product

Do not buy this product, having read the bad reviews, I completely agree with them all, looks good when first installed, which mine was by a professional carpenter, all the expansion gaps are there etc yet nearly 3 years on it’s lifting and cracking and scratches so very easily like other people have stated, the problem I have is my entire downstairs is done with the stuff, please, please, please find an alternative product as you’ll end up in the same position as me in a few years!!!!!

AVOID AT ALL COST

AVOID AT ALL COST. Absolutely awful flooring. Would not recommend at all. After few months, scratches were appearing and edges were lifting. It has started peeling. It looks awful. It has been blamed on installation!!! Not the case at all. Now left with a floor which has cost thousands and will now need replacing in less than 2 years. Not heavily used, small family with no pets. Very disappointed. Very poor quality.

Very poor quality

We spent a fair bit on getting this flooring for our new kitchen. After self levelling the floor, within weeks the edges were lifting and delaminating and the planks have split in places. So disappointed as next to the kitchen this was by far the next biggest purchase for us. The whole lot is going to have to be ripped up and thrown out!

This flooring is not water instant

This flooring is not water instant, it delaminates very easily. We have it in 5 areas and in three (kitchen, dining, bathroom) the surface is delaminating. It is lightly cleaned with a damp cloth. I do not recommend Laying in a Kitchen, bathroom or dining area, at all. Neither do they honour warranty, so don’t let that influence you.

The patterns can be roughly matched for a neutral effect

I picked this flooring because of the lighter natural wood colour and that there weren’t big swirls etc on it. The patterns on each length could roughly be matched so that the overall effect wasn’t busy. It went down exactly a year ago. We haven’t had any issues. We do have a lab dog and there aren’t any scratches, our installers were Floormart, Hastings, New Zealand.

Malmo vinyl flooring is not fit for…

Malmo vinyl flooring is not fit for purpose,we bought it for our new kitchen extension as my sister in law and her brother fitted it in their homes and it looked good, so we bought it and it was laid on a new perfect flat floor base .
When it was put down it looked great, then after about two weeks my sister in law and her brother started having problems with the edges breaking, ours was still ok ,then after about 3 months our flooring started cracking and lifting on the sides , it will now have to be replaced, this company should not be allowed to sell this substandard flooring it’s absolutely terrible

Malmo- do not buy

Floor fitted in 2021 within months it had breaks on joints in various areas, floor had been screeded and dried before fitting and adequate gaps left. Our builder tried to get IDS and Malmo to look at and support rectification but neither would

Very disappointed with this flooring…

Very disappointed with this flooring that has peeled on the edges of the plank joints in many places as others have stated. Never had any trouble with any other flooring like this. Going to have to replace whole floor now after 2 years of trying to disguise and tape the failing joints.

Awful flooring DO NOT BUY

The flooring was fitted correctly as per the manufacturers guidelines. Within months corners of the flooring were peeling up so much so that the door couldn’t open into our kitchen. The company we bought the flooring from were great and replaced some parts of the flooring, but since then more of the floor has come up. There are parts that are peeling in some places meaning it’s dangerous because you can trip over it. I’ve had to duck tape it down.

This floor was fitted in a new build with an excellent subfloor that met all of the criteria. Malmo have since been to look and said that the floor was damp, this is what they say is the problem despite in an earlier visit them saying that the floors are clearly no damp. They used a meter, they bought from Amazon to try and measure the humidity of the floor, it was the first time the guy had used the machine and he said that the readings said the floor was damp which it isn’t. There is underfloor heating and I think the meter couldn’t cope with the pipes and so the readings were all over the place.

We’ve had the floor four 2 1/2 years and we are going to have to replace the whole house.

Do not buy this flooring. It is awful.

Buy something else - not hardwearing & scratches easily!

Marketed as "Hardwearing and incredibly low maintenance" which is absolute rubbish. It scratches at the slightest thing. I cannot hoover my floor as the tiniest bit of grit will scratch so I have to sweep and then suck up the little pile. I bought this on my kitchen fitter's recommendation and should have done my research like I normally do. Malmo don't want to know and commented "She must have dragged something across the floor". Well "she" didn't and is not an idiot. Very disappointing and if I could afford to get rid of it, I would as I totally hate the floor which is fitted in my kitchen, hallway & utility room. Doesn't even feel nice underfoot. A very expensive mistake.

Do not buy Malmo flooring

Do not buy Malmo flooring! i was sold Malmo flooring by Jewson which has been a complete nightmare. I informed the Jewson salesman instore. i need flooring for my open plan kitchen lounge, i need flooring suitable for dogs. He informed me Malmo flooring is the best. Within weeks the floor became scratched! I have asked for my money back under the consumer rights act 2015 that the floor is unfit for purpose and unsatisfactory and that i was miss sold this product. The customer service at Jewson has been disgusting. Jewson informed me the scratches on the floor are due to my dogs claws being too long which is far from the truth, even though they sold me the flooring for dogs. Then Malmo have now stated that i have moved heavy furniture all around my kitchen and lounge which has caused the scratches which is again far from the truth as all i have as furniture is a sofa and armchair which have pads on the legs and in a permanent position. Jewson have sent my claim to their loss adjuster. Which i can guarantee will be another admin exercise to see what other excuse they would like to use this week as to why i can not get my money back for being miss sold this unfit for purpose and extremely unsatisfactory flooring called Malmo!

DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU HAVE DOGS OR…

THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE I HAVE THEREFORE WRITTEN THIS REVIEW AGAIN!!!!!
MALMO/IDS HAVE TRIED TO GET MY REVIEWS REMOVED BECAUSE I AM TELLING THE TRUTH. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU SEE THE WARRANTY ON THIS FLOORING BEFORE YOU PURCHASE AS IT IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. IT IS NOT
SCRATHPROOF THEREFORE NO GOOD FOR DOGS/
YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO FIT IT BY GLASS
YOU CANT HAVE FURNITURE ON IT AS IT MARKS IT
YOU CANT DROP ANYTHING ON IT
NOT FIT FOR FITTING YOURSELF ASIF INSPECTED THEY MEASURE THE JOINTS TO THE MILLIMETRE

ALL OF THE ABOVE WILL VOID YOUR GUARANTEE

MALMO/IDS KNOW THIS IS TRUE WHICH IS WHY THEY CONTACTED TRUSTPILOT TO HAVE MY REVIEWS REMOVED

THAT IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SO PLEASE BE WARNED.DONT LOSE YOUR HARD EARNED CASH LIKEVWE HAVE.

If this weekend you are out purchasing flooring please ensure you read my reviews and the warranty MALMO/IDS OWN DONT DO WHEN PURCHASING THIS FLOORING and ESPECIALLY don't purchase from SCS because they will look for any excuse not to refund or even address any issues

There is even a Facebook page of people asking how to make SCS address complaints please read.

SCS KNEW THAT WE HAD DOGS HAD FURNITURE IN THE ROOMS YET SOLD IT ANY WAY. WE WERE THEREFORE MISOLD THIS RUBBISH.

THIS FLOORING IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
IF YOU KEEP PETS HAVE FURNITURE OR HAVE WINDOWS IN YOUR ROOMS.

DOGS SCRATCH IT
FURNITURE DAMAGES IT
HEAT FROM WINDOWS DAMAGE IT AND THEIR OWN WARRANTY STATES THIS. I DONT HAVE TO FABRICATE THIS INFORMATION ITS ALL TRUE AS STATED BY MALMO/IDS

NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE AS THAT RULES OUT MOST OF THE POPULATION.

UNDER THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT WE WANT A REFUND BECASE NOT ONLY HAS THIS FLOORING BUCKLED AND CRACKED BESIDES ALL OF THAT ITS SCRATCHED FROM THE DOGS AND FURNITURE BECAUSE ITS NOT SCTACH PROOF.

YOU ADVISE ITS SUITABLE FOR PETS IT IS NOT IT SCRATCHES FROM DOGS AND FURNITURE AS ADMITTED BY IDS/MALMO IT IS NOT SCRATCH PROOF.

THEREFORE I REITERATE I DO NOT MAKE THINGS UP OR MAKE UP ANY FALSE CLAIMS THEY ARE ALL LISTED IN YOUR WARRANTY

I HAVE EMAILED YOUR CEO DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO OR SAY OR THREATEN ME.

AS I HAVE REITERATED TO YOU THE FLOORING WAS MEASURED THE GAPS TO THE MILIMETRE. I HAVE EMAILED YOUR CEO.

DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU HAVE DOGS OR PETS!! I SUGGEST THAT YOU READ REVIEWS REGARDING THIS RUBBISH FLOORING BEFORE PURCHASING.

CARY FORD THE SO CALLED INSPECTOR ALSO STATED THAT THE SCRATCHES ON THE FLOORING WERE CAUSED BY THE DOGS. THIS IS THE VERY REASON THiS WAS PURCHASED BECAUSE OF WHAT MALMO STATES BELOW REGARDING IT BEING SUITABLE FOR PETS OF WHICH IT IS CLEARLY NOT.

Yes, Malmo™ is an ideal choice for homes with pets! It’s hardwearing, durable and resistant to scratches, stains, and moisture. LVT is more sound absorbent than many other hard floorcoverings, reducing the noise from clicking claws on the surface. It’s also slip resistant and easy to clean and maintain, allowing fuss-free clean up from muddy paws, spills and accidents, and fluff and fur.

FURTHER TO YOUR COMMENTS YOU STATE ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT THIS FLOORING IS SUITABLE FOR PETS IT IS NOT!!!!! YOU STATE THAT THE FLOORING IS DURABLE AND SCRATH RESISTANT IT IS NOT!! AS THE SO CALLED ASSESSOR BLAMED SCRATCHES ON THE DOGS YET MALMO STATE THAT THE FLOORING IS SCRATCH RESISTANT IDEAL FOR PETS IT IS NOT UNLESS YOU KEEP FISH!!

HOW HIDEOUS THAT MALMO FLOORING ALSO STATE IN THE SO CALLED WARRANTY THAT PETS SHOULD ONLY WALK AT A PARTICULAR SPEED.RIDUCLOUS!!!!!!!

THIS FLOORING IS SUPPOSED TO BE GUARANTEED FOR 25 YEARS BUT THIS IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN ON IF DOGS/PETS CANT WALK ON IT. ESPECIALLY IF IT HAS TO BE WATCHED WHAT SPEED THEY WALK.

Updated Response:

Dear Tracie,

We have now replied to your numerous emails claiming that Malmo flooring is faulty, but to reiterate – we are aware of your complaint and know that it has been thoroughly investigated by an independent flooring inspector. We believe you have already received this report and in summary, the failure of the floor is because of both installation and ongoing maintenance not being conducted in accordance with the instructions. Specific examples include:

• Insufficient subfloor preparation, resulting in undulations greater than 2mm within a 2m area.
• Very small spacing between header joints (30-60mm – this should be a minimum 150mm).
• Use of a steam cleaner.

Malmo offer plenty of resources to support installation for our Rigid Click flooring and to help avoid invalidating your warranty especially the issues highlighted above including a set of installation instructions in every pack of flooring, online downloads of said instructions, and FAQs pointing you to the right document for support should you need further guidance on cleaning, subfloor preparations and advice on if this is the right flooring for you.

https://malmoflooring.com/care-maintenance/

https://malmoflooring.com/faqs/

We are also aware that you have raised complaints with SCS the place of purchase, the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman (FHIO), and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) – none of which have upheld your claims for the above reasons.

To confirm there is no manufacturing fault with the flooring, the issues you have are due to poor subfloor preparation, poor installation and the use of non-advised cleaning and maintenance.

Regards,
Malmo / IDS

Hi Tracie,

As we said in our response to your google review you have stated that your flooring “cracks peels and scratches and splits”. Usually, this is a result of the flooring being installed incorrectly (for example not leaving expansion gaps around the perimeter of the room and/or fixed furniture such as kitchen cabinetry), along with incorrect maintenance products and /or procedures.

Upon receipt of your complaint a fully qualified independent inspector was appointed to view your floor. His report clearly clarifies that the floor is not at fault.

We again appreciate that this is not the outcome that you were hoping for but no defects have been found with our flooring and the report highlighted numerous points of installation and maintenance procedures were not in line with our outlined instructions therefore we cannot agree to your demands of a full refund.

Kind regards,
Malmo

Bad experience with malmo

Bad experience with malmo. Was advised by our flooring/kitchen fitter that the flooring was commercial grade and came with 15 years warranty/guarantee…. 7 months later the flooring has failed and showing signed of wear in various places. We had a representative from the manufacturer come out after chasing him up at least a dozen times, when the rep finally turned up, he came up with every excuse known to man to not warranty it so I would say the 15 year warranty is a load of!!!!! DONT BUY THE FLOORING and aftersales ain’t much better if you’ve a problem.
