Mann Lake Bee & Ag Supply is the leader in quality manufacturing, innovation, and customer service in the beekeeping industry. Whether you are just starting out in the world of beekeeping or running a full-scale commercial beekeeping business, we have all of the top-of-the-line products and services you require. Mann Lake Bee & Ag Supply was founded by Jack and Betty Thomas in 1983 because they couldn't find the quality beekeeping supplies they needed for their own beekeeping hobby. They began selling supplies out of their garage but quickly discovered that many other beekeepers were underserved as well. Realizing the need was bigger than their garage, they moved the business from their home to downtown Hackensack, Minnesota. Since then, they have expanded to California, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Kentucky (formerly Kelley Beekeeping). We’ve also branched out into the exciting world of poultry to provide you both with the knowledge and products of both the birds and the bees! Mann Lake acquired Stromberg’s Chicks & Gamebirds to offer the latest and greatest birds, poultry products and feeds on the market today. Stromberg’s is also a Minnesota based company with a history expanding 100 years! Mann Lake is at the forefront of the ever-changing beekeeping industry. Throughout the challenges that have arisen, Mann Lake has met them head-on to ensure the survival of the honey bee for all. Regardless of the number of hives you keep, Mann Lake has the same goal in mind as you: to keep this natural pollinator flourishing.

Will stonewall you
When initially purchasing I was treated quite nicely, my queens did not come with any comprehensive marking system as to what was what, later on I was stonewalled and had to turn around and email the initial sales rep I had initial contact with when one wasn't laying and had 2 rejected, got told the policy was opposite of what I had received in the mail with my queens and because I was stonewalled I was outside of replacement policy, overall I would give this experience negative stars and I'm never returning

BUYER BE WARE
BUYER BE WARE! Do not buy bees from this company. I recieved 2 packages of bees. They where shipped during a cold snap. So I had to wait to install till it warmed up. Not a good start, but I figured the next day would work. Sprayed the cluster with a little sugar water as advised. Installed the packages as soon as the weather allowed. But did not have 1.5 inches of dead bees and it was after 24 hours of picking up the packages. Needless to say, one died and the other survived. There is no way to get my money back because there rules on a claim are ridiculous. So I wasted my money on a bee package that died as soon as I installed them, the company knows how sensitive the install part is and deliberately created a "policy" to make sure you can't create a claim on your purchase if the weather holds you back from install. Do not buy from them they do not care about you or your time and money.

BUYER BE WARE
BUYER BE WARE! THIEVES!! 🤬I ordered 10 metal hangers, was charged $18.44 for UPS shipping. The envelope came in USPS. I checked as I have a small business and they overcharged $10 and didn't even use UPS. When I called the extremely rude woman who answered you agreed to the shipping, deal with it and hung up. I had no other option, there is only that or next day air! So check your orders, Mann Lake is STEALING your money by OVERCHARGING you on shipping! BUYER BE WARE!

Poor customer service
Poor customer service. Misplaced my order for Queen bee. Waiting all day yesterday for UPS delivery.
Called this morning, someone out of office, no other answer.
Just not dependable.
I ordered three apiary kits and three 3lb saskatraz bee packages. UPS delivered the apiary kits right away but forged my signature and then said it was the neighbor. However, I live on 37 acres with a half mile driveway. No neighbor around. Bees were scheduled to arrive between 2 and 6 on 5-12-22 but never showed. I received an autocall 5-12 that I would need to pick up the bees at the post office. I called to cancel and they refused and provided the runaround until I demanded to speak with a manager (had to demand as being nice led no where). FInally agreed to cancel and refund.
I did lost a lot of money last July…
I did lost a lot of money last July since they ship my large 2 orders in one shipment. After Mannlake controler was very arogant to me. I study and research Bees since 1981 and know for sure more about bees they most of the Mannlake workers.
Used to do business with Kelley…
Used to do business with Kelley beekeeping and never had an issue. They were bought out by Mann Lake. My latest order of package bees arrived dead via UPS. From reading the reviews, this is a common issue with this company. Looks like I'm going to have to find a new bee vendor, as I'm not going to spend $200+ on dead bees again...
Ordered two packages of bees and they…
Ordered two packages of bees and they came on the 21st by UPS and they were all dead. They shipped from Texas to New Mexico in 1 1/2 days. I called to find out what the process was and the girl told me they had over 100 calls so far and all the bees that came from McCallen TX were dead. They could not send replacements because all the bees are dead. Customer service people didn’t act too concerned or state they were trying to find out what happened. The bee package had a center plastic feed jar with a green gel inside with no lid so I think this gel all released at once coating the bees and then they died. I’ve never seen this type used and it made no sense to me. So sad when you think about how many bees they killed. No refund so far. I will never order anything from them again.
Our bees arrived and 75%+ were dead
Our bees arrived and 75%+ were dead. Very poor customer service. We didn't dot the i's so they swindled us out of $200. Never again.
I will never have a thing to do with this company again!
My first impression of Mann Lake was great, but oh how I was wrong! They are apparently trained to treat you royally to sell. The problem is in their staff once there is an issue. I ordered two packages of bees about 2 months ago. They came in this week, and one was in good shape and the other package was about 90-95 percent dead. I called and was asked if I had followed the exact procedure to report dead bees, which was to insert a ruler into the package and take a photo to measure the depth of dead insects. This is just about impossible as you can barely see inside the container, plus it is hard to tell how many are dead or alive. There is NO way to read a ruler in there. I complained told her that I had plenty of photos that show exactly what they sent and asked to talk to the agent's manager. Of course the manager was on the other line and was to call me right back but did not. The girl agent seemed relived that I gave her an out. Later I called and got a man named Chris who seemed helpful and said this happens often, and they could probably at least give me a refund, but I needed to send photos, which I had taken plus videos. He told me you do not have to use the ruler method and sort of laughed at the idea. He gave me an email and I edited some video and sent it with photos. Nothing now for 2 days, but I called and, oh yeah, he was on another line, but would call me back in short order, but of course never did. I wrote a second email and nothing. I am not as mad about the dead bees as I am about the way I was treated, what I was told they would do and didn't, and what seems to me to be their corporate culture. Before you buy ANYTHING from this company read the reviews and go somewhere else!
Will not order from Mann Lake in the future
I ordered $283 worth of hive components a month ago from Mann Lake. After a week or so, I checked my account in their website and the order did not show. Although an order I made last year showed as still processing (I did receive that order) So, thinking I failed to somehow complete the order, I re-ordered the same components for $257 (everything was now on sale). A week later I received my order. Then, a week later I received a duplicate order. My original order for $283 still doesn't show in their website and my second order for $257 still shows as "pending". I informed customer service that there is a problem with their website, but was informed that, regardless, I would have to pay for return shipping (3 large, heavy boxes). Unwilling to pay for return shipping, I decided to keep both orders. However, the components are very poorly made. They use junk wood, cracked in places and only stapled together. I will not order from Mann Lake again.
Mann Lake sold us apigard mite…
Mann Lake sold us apigard mite treatment before labor day. We then received a message that said it was on back order. I then saw that mann lake was selling the same product as part of a labor day sale when they knew they couldn't deliver. Needless to say, it's too late to treat for mites and the order never arrived.
Sent the wrong items, won't process return.
About a month after my order arrived a second duplicate shipment showed up at my door along with a new bill. I called to say I didn't place a second duplicate order of this equipment and don't know why this is showing up. The rep argued with me, stating that I must have ordered it or else it wouldn't have shipped. No resolution on the phone so I offered to return the item. The rep offered to call me back shortly to figure out a return process. Nothing for a month and then they send a overdue payment notice for the duplicate items I'm waiting to return. So they send out random items that aren't ordered, won't process a return and then begin charging late fees for these boxes I have sitting around that I can't wait to send back.
Won't be ordering from them again and would suggest anyone not deal with the hassle.
They withdrew sale pricing and beebucks…
They withdrew sale pricing and beebucks AFTER sending me a sales order. Then backdated a new sales order with higher pricing and emailed it to me right before shipping. I got stuck with a 97$ scam. Plus the quality has really gone down.
Total failure in customer service and honesty.
We chose to order urgently needed hive parts from Mann Lake Bees over another supplier who had the same components currently out of stock. This started a nearly 2-month ordeal with Mann Lake, and it is still ongoing. They showed everything in stock at the time of order, but when delivered (over 2 weeks later) half the order was missing. They never informed us of backordered items in any way, nor sent us a shipping confirmation.
When I called and inquired about it, an answering service took the call and nobody called back. Days later I received a cryptic email with no information on when to expect the remaining items.
We were left borrowing the needed hive items (thanks, local beekepers!) in order not to lose hive splits and a captured swarm. Mann Lake was not returning our calls or emails.
Finally a second delivery from Mann Lake arrived - still missing items, and once again we received no additional info.
They have pretty much ruined our bee season. We could have given our business to another supplier who was honest on their website about their current stock, and received our items much sooner. Next time we will.
Mann Lake has been a disappointment.
Getting to be just like Brushy Mountain prior to their demise
Have been ordering supplies from MannLake for years and they have been great. However lately they have taken the road that Brushy Mountain took prior to their demise. In the past orders were filled within a couple of days and received within the same week. I now have orders of items that were ordered a month ago and have not received, and others that are approaching that same time frame. E-mails have gone on with no response. I can understand a delay with the present Covid-19 problems, but the present problems with their customer service is totally unacceptable. May have to start ordering from BetterBee or Mountain sweet Honey.
Poor service
Poor customer service first order for me wrong order and second order for me wrong orders no one call you back i send an email no respond very bad business
They can't fill their orders correctly....or anything else
They can't fill their orders correctly, no one picks up the phone, no one responds to emails, and you can't cancel the orders once placed despite the website saying everything is in stock. This company's customer service is horrible. Try betterbee.com or Dadant for your product needs.
Products are good but customer service…
Products are good but customer service is nonexistent.
My first order with them was partly filled. Several phone calls and email over an 6 week period of time got absolutely no response. Finally out of the blue someone called and wanted to know my opinion on how they had done. I told them I was still waiting for some items, and that was almost 3 additional weeks ago and still nothing.
There is one product that it appears they are the only US vendor for so I had to hold my nose and attempt another order. It has now been over a week and it is still "pending" and again no response to emails or phone calls.
I hate to but believe I will have to find another similar product that I can get from another vendor an change as I can't depend on Mann Lake to fill order in a timely manner or at all in some cases. I place orders for things when I need it, and expect a timely delivery at least what is stated online when I order it. It appears that Mann Lake just ships thing when they get the urge to and not even attempt to meet the expectations they put on their web site. My advice is to find another vendor for your bee keeping supplies.
Used to be good but now I don't know
I have placed an order and only about half of it showed up. No one answers the phone no one emails back. They used to be a 1st rate company but something has changed. Seems like they just don't care anymore.
