Absolutely avoid

Absolutely avoid. They want to charge upfront to inspect work conducted pre 2018 that is under a written guarantee which clearly says any inspection and/or work required would not be charged for. If you have a guarantee from this company it is completely meaningless. Zero stars.

Additional to the company response -

The facts of the matter are that-

We have a written guarantee from the company - ie the brand name you are still using - from 2012 stating that work will be inspected for free. This is a legally binding document.

We have two emails from you stating that said guarantees issued in the past are being honoured.

We have the legal position that nowhere in that guarantee does it state the terms are subject to change.

We have the legal position that by changing those terms, ie trying to charge us to look at guaranteed work which you have twice confirmed in writing is still valid, and particularly without any notice, you are in breach of the contract that you personally have confirmed is still valid.

You are the one being difficult and I am 100% happy to (and will) post both the guarantee and your email responses as and when I find the correct facility to do this to warn others.

You are also being reported to Trading Standards.

Emails - for every to see…

Afternoon

I just called about someone coming to inspect some work the company did in 2012.

Having read again the guarantee that was provided at the time, I am a bit confused as to why we are being charged up front for the appointment given that Section B below confirms that the work would be inspected without charge, and a charge would only apply if the work had been rendered ineffective by us.

Thank you.

Good afternoon, thank you for your email.

With regards to the guarantee, M.Mansell (Watford) Ltd ceased trading in 2018, Wolfpack Holdings Ltd t/a M.Mansell (Watford) acquired the assets of the business and continues to honour the guarantees issued by its predecessor.

We do now charge for all surveys, if it is found that the original works have failed and is covered by the original guarantee, the survey charge will be refunded.

Kind regards

Afternoon

I am sorry, but I am still confused here. If Wolfpack Holdings continues to honour the guarantee then the terms of said guarantee still apply.

The guarantee states we will not be charged for someone coming to inspect the work. You cannot pick and choose what does and does not apply to a guarantee if you’re honouring that guarantee.

I totally understand about charging for work if anything is found to be our fault, but that’s in the guarantee and we accept that.

Thanks

Good morning, as a gesture we have chosen to honour the guarantees of M.Mansell (Watford) Ltd, in so far as the works that were undertaken.

We now charge for all surveys and re-inspections.

Kind regards

Huge recommendation for Mansells

This is a huge recommendation for Mansells in Watford and their owner Martin Brown.
Another company had quoted over £5000, plus having to pay someone else to remove and replace kitchen cupboards, for sorting out a rising damp problem after I’d wanted to check the condition of my Victorian house.
After surveying, Martin explained there is no damp issue at all and pointed out that other companies use salespeople, who are likely to be on commission.
So, they saved me an awful lot of money that I really couldn’t afford.
Be warned to always get at least one other quote, pref from Mansells!
