About 18 months ago I purchased a "lifetime" upgrade for Manycam. Like everyone else here, it seems the new owners have disregarded my "contract" to rake in some more cash. This is doomed to fail as, like me, others are looking for less superior alternatives. Presumably, lifetime means the lifetime of the common garden mouse, not a human being. So buy if you are not going to need this for a long period of time. Manycam, you have really let us down. And we have very, very long memories.

DON'T BUY FROM THIS UNETHICAL COMPANY, IT DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR MONEY
ManyCam need to be taken to court and fined hugely. You can't sell Lifetime subscriptions and then withdraw them after less than a year.
I just tried to activate one of my 3 outstanding users and it insisted on an upgrade first!! and so now doesn't work. And they've locked out the old version so are trying to ensure it is not available anywhere.
THE NEW OWNERS MUST FAIL. There has to be a consequence for them, otherwise every other software company will do this too... and it might be to you.
Offering one year free is not acceptable.
Oh it's rubbish software too, look for something better.

We were cheated into buying a lifetime account, only to be stuck at version 7.

DO NOT buy this software. As you can see, so many of us got stitched up when the company was sold on. Now I have to install an older version to keep my expensive lifetime license BUT they keep updating the software to v8 without my permission thereby revoking my license.

I am now looking into how I switch that off. Time wasting, money wasting. Please look for better alternatives. These people cannot be trusted!

How the mighty have fallen. I shall no longer recommend or purchase from Manycam. I purchased a Studio and Lifetime Licenses from Manycam. Manycam has decided to end these licenses and provide a 2-year subscription in their place.

From the FAQ: "with ManyCam Lifetime, you will get lifetime access to all future versions and updates of the ManyCam application for free".
...until the new owners decide lifetime subscriptions are a bad idea and stop them working with the new version of ManyCam. I bought studio and premium lifetime subscriptions. Obviously, I'm not too happy about this. Time to move to another product. It's a shame because I quite liked the product but I quite dislike being ripped off. Can't trust this lot. Beware.

Manycam sold me a Premium Lifetime subscription entitling me to lifetime upgrades to all future updated versions of the program. I bought a new laptop and downloaded the program yesterday, and got the notice that my Premium Lifetime subscription could not be activated on their current version 8 and I would have to purchase a new subscription. They are dishonest. I will not reward them with any future business.

when is lifetime not lifetime? - when you pay for a subscription with ManyCam, been a customer for years and since version 8 have to pay again well not me i will take my money elsewhere what a bunch of con-merchants. When you buy a company you buy the liabilities as well, so man up and do the right thing for lifetime subscribers!

Bought a lifeitme licence just over a year ago.
I decided to reinstall it again today on my main pc to be greeted with SOZ CANT USE YOUR LICENCE AS THIS IS 8.1 VERSION AND YOUR LICENCE IS FOR 8.
I never ever experienced such a scammy policy from a software dev. Lifetime means all upgrades included, until the next major version at least (in this case 9).

This application is malware. Total scam, don't install! It completely hijacked my Google Chrome camera, even after I reset all the permission and reset the browser and even had uninstalled and deleted all the cache data. I couldn't use my webcam at all on Chrome and wasted tons of time. Their website is incredibly suspicious and full of typos. I would never trust a company like this to have control over my webcam. DONT INSTALL!

I bought a lifetime deal and they revoked it for the new upgrades turning it useless.
When a company does not respect its customers, it deserves to have no new customers at all.
These people are scammers. Avoid them.

I think Manycam is a fantastic tool for online teachers. I have been using it religiously for many years. The kids love it. The only disadvantage is that it may impact your laptop's performance, so I make sure to close it down when I am not teaching a class. I'm giving it five stars because I would be lost without it. Also, I bought the lifetime subscription a few years ago, and it still works great, although I don't think I will be able to receive any new updates since its acquisition

I used Manycam many years. So i decided to switch to studio lifetime. Years later there was another offer. So I switched to lifetime Premium, even i do not need all the features.
This summer i checked if there is a new update "hell yes, version 8 !" but "mmh licence not valid" so i signed out and in, and found out, that the company was sold. The new owner doesn't offer lifetime any more. BUT hey, i can stay with version 7 (glad i bought the last lifetime version 7.x) or get 1 or 2 years free updates with version 8.x
Rip off ! I bought lifetime with the condition [in short] "get all further updates and versions for free, we will never ask for more money"

I bought a lifetime licence for their software in the early days of the company primarily because I liked the software and wanted to support an innovative company.
The recent acquisition by Paltalk has lead to the company making the decision not to honour those purchases with the release of version 8.
They have offered a single years subscription but I do not think that this is suitable recompense for breaking a lifetime licensing agreement. I have tried contacting the CEO’s of both companies and have had no response. My forum posts, all as measured as this, were deleted and I suspect although cannot prove) that other dissenting voices were similarly censored. I seem to have now been suspended from posting.
If this leaves you uncomfortable with this company I share that feeling, to put it mildly. There are other alternatives, some slightly more expensive and some significantly more capable technically. You may be well advised to shop around before parting with your money.

I've contacted their e-mail address on their site's footer and I also used their contact form. I requested a refund and so far they've completely ignored my requests by not so much as replying to an e-mail. I will be calling my bank soon to get the money back if they do not solve this. I'm going to warn people in the future from doing business with ManyCam so that they do not have to risk their money.

Lifetime Studio license is no longer being honored by Manycam for version 8, contrary to the published policy at time of version 7 purchase. I will not fork over yet more money for a yearly subscription; I paid for lifetime for a reason. I'll use version 7 until I need more functionality and then go somewhere else.

During the pandemic, ManyCam was the medium our church used to livestream our activities on Facebook and YouTube. This software never let us down. We used the mobile application initially to receive the video signal from different cell phones, it looked incredible. Several colleagues of mine struggled with OBS and other programs with not very good results, many called me to ask what program I used for our broadcasts due to the excellent quality it allowed us to maintain. ManyCam is very intuitive, easy to use and they are improving it on a regular basis. Currently version 8 has been a giant step in improving this wonderful product. I highly recommend it.

I am a real user of Manycam software. Other software I tried: OBS and vMix.
OBS (although free !) is in my opinion much more difficult to use, that means I would have to spend many hours in understanding how to use it in detail (I find it counter-intuitive). And: the use cases are a little different. OBS Studio may be a fine solution for people who want to live stream gaming.
vMix is really great and has much more possibilities than Manycam but it is way more expensive. They have a onetime $60 licence but that is extremely restricted. I consider vMix a solution for actual professional users.
Manycam is for ambitious home (or semi-professional) users who want to use a video live production tool. With this software several input video streams can be mixed into one output. The output can be send directly to the input of a Youtube Livestream or Zoom/MS-Teams session (called a virtual webscam) or into a file.
An input stream can be for example a real camera, a live screen recording from an area of a computer screen or an existing video file (on your PC or from Youtube ...). These inputs can be mixed with predesigned lower thirds (e.g. showing some form of text in an animated box) or graphic elements of various kinds.
It takes a few hours of manual reading and experimenting to fully unleash the potential of the software but I find it worth the time and also the money for the license. Software in this category is generally not super easy to use, at least I have not seen it so far.
With Manycam one can for example integrate a Smartphone camera (via NDI or IP Cam Apps) into mixing videos from different sources.
With very low level hardware I experienced stability problems (Mini PC with Atom processor and 4 GB RAM) which never happened on my desktop PC. This may in the nature of video live production software since it has higher demands regarding hardware. The same crashes happened with vMix and OBS on the low level hardware.
