Mariushosting.com is an excellent source of information for people wanting to program their NAS!

I live in the United States and really don’t have a strong technical background. I purchased a Synology NAS but looking at developer documentation for docker programs was like trying to read a foreign language. I searched the internet and discovered mariushosting.com. I found several applications that I was trying to understand before but mariushosting explained step by step exactly what to do including illustrations of the steps. I saw a link for donations and figured I would donate because the website really helped me. There isn’t any advertising on the site which is a nice change. After using the site several times I contacted Marius with some questions about doing something that he hadn’t written about. He gladly helped me and I was successful. He never once asked me for money and it was always up to me to decide whether to donate and how much. If you’re a NAS owner and feel like it could be working more for you, I HIGHLY recommend mariushosting.com for ideas and thorough instructions in easy to understand English. Additionally, if you ever need to contact Marius, he’s always willing to help. And remember, it’s always up to you whether you want to donate or not. I did ask Marius once about that and he says that his website is 100% donations and he never asks for money at all.

Great for discovering new apps

It's a great site for Synology docker tutorials, but also for discovering new services to run on my NAS. It's a great resource and very helpful to get containers running that usually not always work with the default instructions.

Top quality guides for your homelab.

I've used numerous guides provided by Marius at MaruisHosting.com and they are always top notch. If you have any issues with his guides he is always available to address issues and troubleshoot.

Marius puts in long hours to do the research and pull together the information on his website. Anything you can't find on his site, you can find in his Discord server.

I've used his guides for at least 30 (probably more) self-hosted apps/services and routinely find more news and guides that keep me informed about self-hosted tech.

Seek information elsewhere! BEWARE!

Really not a resource those should look to use for any guides or learning.

All guides are "his flavor" with no explanations, and almost always deviate from the recommended path of the tools creators.

If you try to give feedback you will likely be met with verbal abuse and a ban to go with it.

Stick to developer docs!

Not for me

I needed to setup a site for my domain. After an email response decided to give it a try with marius hosting method. When it was done it had a .synology.me extension to it. Not my domain. I asked him about it and we set up a time for him to edit files. It took about ten minutes or less for him to make a few changes. I "donated" $70.

My site quit working because synology had me do a mode2 reset. I had the portainer backup, but struggled getting things right. I contacted marius and he needed a $230 donation to even look at the file.

I gave up on him at that point. I too am struggling to stay afloat. I give money donations all the time for a service that helps me. This is not a donation site, once you are committed to using his product, it is strongarm.
