Really bad. Random charges if you don't frequently use your credit card with no correspondence, can't log into account due to only being able to have 2 devices registered. A card I haven't used (as it... See more

Horrible experience
Horrible experience, just opened an account with m&s banking couple days ago and i did not even use it once. Had some issues when my card arrived and called the m&s support team in order to set up my app and bank account the support was so useless that i wonder, if the support is so bad how can you trust them with your money? Had another go, called m&s banking support again and once again useless, are the support members even qualified or just some weekend programme to answer the phone and keep asking you to call back untill someone guess your question? Ridiculous they are not and they will never be close to a real bank. I strongly advice you to think twice before you open an account with them. Read reviews at least my bad i did not. Spent 4/5 hours for nothing, at least now i know how bad they are :/
Very very slow to update balances.
Very very slow to update balances in online current statement (m&s credit card). The only balance which does change instantly is 'available balance' and instant texts are sent when over 90% of balance has been used. However I balance my card on an almost daily basis but it sometimes takes 3 - 4 days for the balance to update. It takes as long for transactions, including refunds, to appear. I've had other credit cards (including from Santander) and transactions and repayments I make would show up almost right away, so it's not an issue of it being a credit card. It's very frustrating when I repay the balance but the funds don't show up for days, meaning that balance is not available to use. The only reasons I use it for daily spending is for points and for security. I'm now shopping around for a better card provider.
Waste of time
Signed up 2nd August, pin arrived on the 5th August, no card arrived for nearly three weeks. Rang them to arrange another card, pin arrives 19th August. It’s now 3rd October, I still don’t have a credit card. Absolutely ridiculous. I rang them, got cut off, now I have completed a cancellation form.
I've been with m&s money for some years…
I've been with m&s money for some years but like so many others can't understand how they have gone downhill so rapidly. I didn't have any problems until they made the app only accessible if you have an iphone or ipad, I have neither and I'm blowed if I'm going to buy an iphone just so I can access the account. The instructions they provide to access with the little gadget they provide are hopeless, every time I try to reset I get locked out. No way I can access my account, haven't been able to check usage for some months. My next payment will clear the account and that is when my account is going to be closed. Sick and tired of the stress involved.
A terrible online and customer service,
My wife has been a customer for many years. She was posted monthly statements and I paid the bills from our internet banking account. We elected to go paperless. Big mistake. Getting to see your statements online is virtually impossible. You get so far and then get redirected to their mobile app. Which doesn't work. I paid £350 on spec to cover bills in August. We tried to get things fixed in The Gyle and Livingston, who had been very helpful in the past. Both financial facilities had been closed and we could get no help there. Decided not to pay in September to see what would happen. We were immediately contacted by M&S payments and threatened with closure unless we paid a bill of £450.00. This seemed excessive but we paid through our internet bank. He undertook to pass us to Customer Services. After waiting 30 mins for a response we gave up. Kean to get your money but not to tell you what it was spent on.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, told to bring proof of id only to be told at the store it needs to be proof of address. I don't have any so the order has to be cancelled as they're unable to amend orders, refund will take up to 5 working days once again a company dragging it's heels returning money. The old guy at the counter just laughed and said not his problem when I tried to explain the issue.

Worst banking experience of my life
I got a credit card from M&S to get some items for my baby, due in November. I have always shopped at M&S went straight to them for my new card.
I activated the card and had spent a very small amount (£22) with next.
Went into John Lewis all very excited to buy a pram but at checkout my card was declined. Got the standard text message asking me if it was me and text Y. Was sent another message to say I can now use the card. Tried again and it was declined again. Called the number they suggested, got through security to then be asked if I was really sure I wanted to spend that much.
Did I want to spend money on my unborn child for things they needed? Yes I did.
The woman in the phone made me feel like a child! At the end of the call she said you will now be able to use your card.
Very long and emotional story later they blocked my card for 5 days for absolutely no reason and I couldn’t buy what I wanted.
Dreadful experience like many others on…
Dreadful experience like many others on here. I had my direct debit cancelled with absolutely no communication from
m&S that they had done this resulting in two late payments and £12 charges. Trying to get any information from the customer service team was dreadful and this has now affected my credit score which has always been very good. I am reporting to financial ombudsman. All my other banks/credit cards are excellent with communication and issue regular texts/emails on account status.
Absolute disgrace and farcical
Absolute disgrace and farcical! I applied for a loan, signed the contract and was told the funds would be with me within 3 days. Waited 7 days, still no funds so called and was told I had given them the wrong bank details. Gave them my bank details and was told the funds would be with me within 5 working days. Called 5 days later and was told the same, my bank details were incorrect so again confirmed them. Called this afternoon, another 5 days on and was told my phone number and email was wrong even though at the very beginning is this debacle they emailed the contract and sent a text message. Was told it would take another 12 working days to rectify this.
Please don’t waste your time with this company, I cancelled the loan and noticed my credit score completely nosedived as a result.
Avoid at all costs, not worth the hassle they cause.
Useless
I applied for a Marks & Spencer credit card and was initially accepted, but the experience quickly went downhill. They claimed to have contacted me multiple times—both by phone and mail—to validate my details, which is completely false. I've been using the card without issue, making payments on time with no missed transactions. The level of disorganization is shocking, and they clearly have no idea what they’re doing when it comes to managing credit cards. M&S should stick to what they know—groceries and clothes—because their handling of credit services is utterly hapless. Very disappointing.
Absolutely hopeless.
Absolutely hopeless.
I stopped using the card for several months as their support although polite is useless. I recently tried to log on and the online help does not help as is the case with their helpline. The unfortunate operator was simply reading from scrpts and had no technical knowledge whatsoever.
Excellent Service
Can't speak highly enough of service we received from M&S home insurance. We were unable to lock our outside door at 7:30pm on a Sunday night. I phoned M&S insurance and by 9:00pm the locksmith had carried out necessary repairs, so a big thank you to all parties involved
Shockingly bad company who lie
Shockingly bad company. Applied, accepted and signed for a car loan then 9 days later I called to see what was going on to be told that I’d supplied wrong bank details (which was lies) and had to wait for a new agreement to be sent. 3 days later I rang again to be told the same so I said I wanted to cancel then to be told that I couldn’t because they had sent the funds to my bank which would take up to 72 hours ( which was also lies) I rang again the next day to see what they would say and They told me the funds hadn’t been sent and it would take another 5 days before I got the agreement. I have told them I won’t sign the agreement if it’s ever sent!! DONT BOTHER APPLYING FOR ANYTHING FROM THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY.
Snooping on my shopping and my account
Snooping on my shopping and my account, did not add sparks offers to my card and can only get them via an app. Dismissive customer service. I am now cancelling my card and taking my business elsewhere after at least 30 years.
COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM
The terrible reviews M&S have here are completely justified.
I took out a M&S credit card back in July and set up my direct debit. No payment was taken and I was charged £12 for the privilege. As it was my first missed payment the charge was removed and I doubled checked my direct debit details and made a manual payment.
Next month rolls by and I'm hit with another £12 late fee. I'm completely baffled. I checked my account and the Direct Debit is still active on my account and there's plenty of funds in my bank account.
I have a 925 ClearScore and no missed payments in the past 7 years. Then M&S comes along as completely f**ks that up.
Awful company. Don't bother taking the risk.
Awful App and Rude Cusomer Service at M&SYou are instructed to use the app for…
You are instructed to use the app for changes and help but the app is terrible. Asked to leave a message and still have no reply. There is no search box
I rang credit card help and could not understand what man was telling me..he was so rude I ended the call. Think I will change my card
Very poor
Unable to get any sense or to contact a human.
I can use my card as a Mastercard but it is refused in a store, WHY?
Customer service gone down the drain.
Called customer service because my existing credit card had been declined for a purchase of a voucher. I had to call them a couple of times and eventually insisted on speaking to a manager to be able to get an explanation as I kept getting fobbed off with our fraud department will call you but we don't know when. Turned out that fraudulent activity was suspected even though I was the one using the card. Still not had a call from the so called fraud department. Through out my contact with them I felt I was being treated like a criminal as no one wanted to tell me why the card had been stopped. Whilst it's understandable that fraudulent activity needs to be prevented once I explained that I was the one using the card its unclear why there has been a delay in re-establishing contact. It has been quite a stressful experience to say the least and am seriously reviewing whether to close the account because of this incident. They need to be pro-active about improving their customer service as my experience with them has not been a positive one.
Setting up online banking headache
I wouldn't believe all the 1 star reviews if I hadn't just spent 40 mins setting up online banking. I have been with pretty much every banking institution and have never had such a ridiculous online process. Start on the website. Then pushes you to app. Then to make a phone call. Then back to website to actually set up a direct debit, which you then need to log out of the app to select the generate code option to enter into the website. Unbelievable. None of which is mobile friendly so when creating passwords there is no option to reveal characters you are typing in case of any typos.
