I had one of the worst banking experiences with Mashreq Bank. I reported an unauthorized transaction of 2,000 AED from my account—despite not losing my card or logging into any suspicious websites. I immediately alerted the bank, and they initially assured me that they would take swift action.
However, what followed was extremely frustrating. The customer service was unhelpful, dismissive, and gave me conflicting information at every stage. I was constantly passed around between departments with no one taking clear responsibility. It took two months just to receive a proper response.
Despite having a 3D Secure system, the bank ultimately blamed me for the loss and closed the dispute without resolution. There was no real investigation, no accountability, and certainly no empathy for the distress caused.
What’s the point of banking with an institution that promotes security, when they fail to protect you when it matters most?
I’m deeply disappointed and will be moving my accounts elsewhere. I strongly advise others to be very cautious when trusting this bank for protection and support.

They charged me a fee for alleged “breach of minimum balance” while I never breached minimum balance. It is nearly impossible to contact their customer service team.
Several months ago they also held my incoming transfer for 17 days before returning it without any proper explanation. Their support was non existent back then as well.

The problem is really that they employ so many Indian workers who put hidden charges on customers and scam that money from the bank. I know about this as I knew someone who was working there and he told me about it. Then they try to confuse the customer when they complain.

My friend and I applied to the bank for credit card transactions at the same time, but my friend's application was accepted, we receive the same salary and work in the same job, but mine was not accepted. I called the bank and they said try again in 15 days, they tried again, I called customer service and they said your number is blocked, when I asked why, they hung up on me, but the employees were indifferent and even rude. They did not clearly explain the reason for my rejection, they did not offer an alternative solution. I think I did not receive the respect I deserve as a customer. This attitude damages the bank's reputation. I would like to share my bad experience and ask them to find a solution to this injustice and prevent others from using this bank.

I initiated an FX conversion from EUR to USD, however, Mashreq never confirmed the FX rate to me. Without my approval (OTP), and without being informed about the exchange rate, Mashreq than exchanged funds at a highly unfavorable exchange rate (7% lower than the market rate). I have tried to reverse that exchange, without luck. This is outright theft and illegal!

Dear Mashreq bank, please improve your service. I have a Mashreq Online account. I am struggling to log in, contacted 3 times, spoke to three different staff, and each time I got different answers. Highly unhelpful bank. I don't live in UAE, I requested to unlock my account urgently, everytime they said the complaint has been raised, I have to wait, someone will contact me and visit me in person to assist me in unlocking my account. I made call to them on Wednesday. now today is Saturday, still no response. They don't understand the problem, fixated about their procedure. Now I am flying back to Australia, and I can't use my funds for my essential transfer. I really hate. Very substandard service by Mashreq. I requested them if I can visit any of their branches for assistance, they said I'll not be assisted by the staff due to I having an online account. Also, they send debit card to my nominated address, which was never received.

Very bad treatment. The amount due was 5,508.49 dirhams, and I paid the full amount through First Abu Dhabi Bank. Today, I was surprised to find 243 dirhams in interest. When I contacted them, they told me that there was an amount of 0.49 dirhams that had not been paid, and the excess amount was interest. They told me that the amount received was only 5,508 dirhams, even though I paid the full amount and added a transfer fee of 1.50 dirhams. It's really strange that for 0.49, they charge an additional 243 dirhams.

Terrible terrible Bank, very bad customer service, every time i try to call to speak with a real person a robot will answer, and whenever im finally speaking with a real agent over the Chatbot , each time they tell me a different answer for my problem, i spoke with almost 5 people and ive been waiting 2 weeks to get an answer back yet still nothing, no follow ups , no helping , nothing!!!! Made settlement of credit card today at 9:00 am. I was happy that the numbers where being served swiftly and smoothly, what I did not like about my experience is that when we requestwed for a copy cheque payment acknowledgement receipt Mr. Sohail refused and told me "no need, finish go" I just don't understand the reason why he us refusing to give me a copy even of the deposit slip. Btw the branch was not busy and I'm not asking for photocopy I just want to take a picture from my phone as proof the the cheque was already received.

I have had the worst experience with Mashreq Bank. Their customer service is absolutely terrible—every day, customers complain, yet they do nothing to improve.
I have been requesting a refund for a rejected transfer, but instead of providing a proper solution, they keep giving vague responses and delaying the process. No accountability, no professionalism.

Hands down the worst bank I have dealt with in 13 years in UAE. I had conflicting info received from customer service agents, no proper updates, no follow throughs on commitments, no guidance for customer. They simply say "it's on process, we will update you" but absolutely NOTHING happens. Most frustrating experience I ever had, I feel that this bank doesn't care about its customers. Just a simple signature update and Direct Debit Approval takes forever. ABSOLUTELY WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.
