My review of Match Simulator:

My review of Match Simulator:

I discovered Match Simulator by chance and initially subscribed to the Premium plan because I liked the simulator at first. It’s very user-friendly and easy to use.

Pros:

A wide variety of teams available for simulation.

Ability to create your own groups or tournaments.

Cons:

Many national teams are missing compared to other simulators.

Tournament creation options are very limited.

Groups are sometimes generated strangely, and there are fewer options than in other simulators, many of which are even free.

The subscription system is problematic: there’s no clear way to cancel the subscription yourself. I had to wait for Match Simulator to cancel it automatically, which could confuse users or even feel misleading.

The language cannot be changed, making it harder for non-English speakers.

At €5 per month, the value for money is too high, especially compared to free simulators with more features.

Conclusion:
Match Simulator is okay and serves its purpose, but there is a lot of room for improvement. The subscription system, limited tournament and team features, and the lack of language options should be improved.

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3 out of 5 stars)

Reply from Match Simulator

Hi Tiziano,

Thanks so much for trying Match Simulator and for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I really appreciate you giving the platform a chance, and I’m glad to hear you found it easy to use, that has always been one of the core goals of Match Simulator.

I’d like to respond to the points you mentioned and hopefully give some clarity:

National teams
Match Simulator currently includes 97 national teams in the base database, which is quite a large number compared to most sims. For additional nations, you can use or create customization packs. These let you add nations, create players, edit teams, and more. A number of community-made packs already add many extra national teams, and you can import them directly if you want a broader selection.

Tournament creation options
We were surprised to read that you found the options limited, because this is actually one of the areas where Match Simulator is most advanced. We currently support:
-Round-robin leagues up to 32 teams (64 with Premium)
-Group + knockout formats up to 64 teams (128 with Premium), with groups of 3 or 4, automatic qualifiers when group sizes don’t match perfectly, and best 3rd-place progression like in the EUROs
-Knockout-only tournaments up to 128 teams (256 with Premium)
-League + knockout formats like the new UEFA Champions League, with adjustable matchdays (6 or 8)
-Editable draws before each stage, plus editable pots for the league format
-And finally, official formats for many real leagues and tournaments

If you meant something else or if a particular format is missing, I’d genuinely love to hear more. Maybe we misunderstood your needs or maybe you found something that we can improve.

Group generation feeling “strange”
Groups are generated completely at random, and of course, you can always manually change teams between groups in the draw screen. If something looked off or unexpected, please let me know what exactly you noticed so I can check whether anything needs fixing.

Subscription cancellation
I’m really sorry to hear you struggled with this, since that’s definitely not the goal. We really tried to make the process of cancelling easy.
-Go to 'Account settings' (top right avatar) → 'Billing'.
-There you’ll see:
A cancel button directly on your plan
A Manage subscription button, which brings you to the subscription management area, where you can also cancel.

Cancelling always keeps your Premium active until the end of the period, so there’s no downside to cancelling immediately after subscribing. I would love to know what made this difficult to find so I can improve the design and avoid this for others.

Language options
You are absolutely right. Match Simulator is developed by a single developer, which makes supporting multiple languages difficult. Translating thousands of texts and then maintaining them during updates simply isn't feasible right now. I hope for your understanding on this one, and I do hope to support multi-language in the future when the platform has grown.

Price vs value
Just to clarify: Premium is €3.99 per month or €34.99 per year. The pricing page describes exactly what you get, and we’re adding more Premium features over time.
That said: if you mostly simulate occasional matches, the free version is generally more than enough. Premium is mainly meant for heavy users who run many leagues, larger tournaments, or full seasons using “simulate matchday.”

Thanks again for your thoughtful feedback, it really helps us improve. If you’d like to elaborate on the tournament limitations or the group generation issue, I’d love to hear from you. And if any of this clarifies things for you, I would really appreciate it if you’d consider updating your rating.

Best,
Joshua from Match Simulator
