Emily provides incredibly sensitive & comprehensive training, totally bespoke to your needs and dog breed. Her expertise and knowledge is second to none, plus her direct and clear communication ensures positive outcomes for both dog and owner. I have had the pleasure of Emily’s support and guidance intermittently over the past 18 months with our GSD in both group sessions and one-to-one; both formats giving great results. I cannot recommend Emily highly enough. You and your dog won’t regret it.

We met Emily for a 1-2-1 training session with our rescue dog, Jude. Emily was fantastic and gave us lots of techniques and tips to work on with Jude and really helped build our confidence to continue training at home! I would highly recommend Emily, can’t wait to keep in touch and come and see her again, hopefully Jude can have another play with Girl soon!

I would highly recommend anyone to see Emily at Maxcanine if they're having problems with their dog.

I went to see Emily about my 2 and a half year old reactive Jack Russell. He would constantly bark and lunge at other dogs, wouldn't come when called, try and chase sheep etc.

Not long after meeting Emily she had my dog sussed. She explained in detail about the breed, their tendencies and the best way to go about correcting my dogs issues.

Emily tailors each session to the individual dog and clearly knows what she is doing. She was very friendly and gave me the tools to go on and correct my dogs behaviour.

If I could give 6 stars I would.

We contacted Em for advise on Alma’s behaviour. She was very thorough from the start, having looked into the breed and following a session at her lovely place in Waunfawr, she tailored a plan for Alma and us, small tweaks to what we were doing but they have made such a difference. Hopefully our 6 stone Giant Schnauzer will stop getting excited and knocking the grandchildren over!!! Thanks Em

Emily was fantastic at understanding where our own failings as an owner weren't helping with our dog's behaviour towards other Dogs. We got a comprehensive session and follow up report to help us improve our dog's behaviour l.

We had a 1-2-1 session with Emily @Maxcanie headquarters with our boisterous lab pup Poppy. As we are first time dog owners we needed so help with jumping up when greeting people and help with recall, Emily was great with the Poppy and us, very knowledgeable and made everything look extremely easy and natural we came from there with a lot more confidence in what need to do. Since our initial visit we have also attended the dog socialisation sessions and these have been fantastic and we have seen a big positive change in Poppy since her first session. Emily and Mike are really lovely people who make you feel welcome each visit, we also got to play with the fabulous Girl and met Laya the German Shepard. If you are looking for a dog trainer/behaviourist then I’d recommend Maxcanine hands down, Emily is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what she does, and we are looking forward to our next session!

I attended a 3 day residential course at Max Canine with my chocolate labrador Barney. Barney had become extremely difficult to walk, being particularly loud and reactive whenever we encountered another dog, making walks a very stressful affair. We would purposely walk him in private spaces where we wouldn't encounter other dogs and would avoid very public areas or events.

Emily at MaxCanine was fabulous. She spent the first day assessing Barney's behaviour and personality and provided reassurance that he was purely reactive rather than aggressive which had been our concern. She has incredible knowledge of dog psychology, and her insights really helped to explain and understand Barney's behaviour. She then taught me techniques to assist in managing him which we tried out in a town centre and on the beach, all to great success.

After returning home, there has been a big change in our walks (for the better!). Most significantly, I now really understand Barney's behaviour and can anticipate and deal with his reactions with real confidence. And confidence certainly is the key for me. He now comes to my sons' rugby every week (we would never take him previously for fear of his behaviour), we have even been in a beer garden with him - and it was fabulously uneventful! Emily has kept in touch and I will definitely be going back for further advice in the future.

What I learnt from Emily is how to stay relaxed and normalise Barney's behaviour so encounters with other dogs are nothing to be concerned about. This is definitely a journey - there are good and bad walks - but the majority are good.

It really has been a life changing experience for Barney. We no longer have to psych ourselves up to taking him out for a walk; we are going to different places with him rather than sticking to the same routes that we previously thought of as "safe", and most of all we now have the confidence to just bring him along where ever we are going, which was previously unimaginable.

Our stay at Max Canine was so worthwhile. Aside from the training, the cottage is super, Emily and her partner were great company and Barney completely fell in love with Em's labrador Girl and Leya the German Shepherd (but not the cat!). I really cannot recommend MaxCanine enough.

My husband and I spent 3 days at max canine training it was such a positive and time well spent with our dog Billie. We learnt so much regarding how we need to behave ourselves with our dog to train and have a happy dog. I would highly recommend using max canine for any type of dog behavioural problems and or just general training and a little quality time spent in the Welsh mountains in the beautiful cottage.

We have been having issues with one of our dogs showing aggression to me recently and after having a new born in the hosue it became a little worrying.

Emily spent the afternoon with us working on ways to help improve our dog's behaviour and Emily's suggestions were very clear, simple and most of all helpful.

i would highly recommend anyone who does feel their dog has an issue they would like to look into to ask Emily for help.

Emily helped us with our rescue dog's behavioural issues and showed us exactly what we need to do going forward to modify his behaviour and give him the best life possible. He's nervous around strangers and other dogs but Emily was so calm and knowledgeable that our dog walked happily with her dog side by side by the end of the session! It was incredible to see him like this and Emily gave us lots of confidence and the right tools to continue his training in the right direction. I can't recommend her highly enough, she was absolutely amazing.

Emily is absolutely brilliant and was amazing with my pooch. My dog is a very nervous of new people but Emily was super calm and professional and knew exactly what he needed. I gained a huge amount of confidence and knowledge about how to help my dog going forward. I cannot speak highly enough of Emily, she is an absolute magician! It's incredibly clear that she is extremely knowledgeable, but more importantly, really passionate about what she does for a living. We had a fantastic session, it was calm, relaxed and really enjoyable.

Since the session we have received a detailed and in-depth plan that is completely custom to my dog that I can use going forward. Emily has continued to be patient and knowledgeable while I bombard her with questions that I forgot to ask on the first session.

I am comfortable that I am in control and I can handle any issues thanks to the tools that Emily has provided me with.

Emily is absolutely brilliant. We asked her to come and help us out with guidance for training our 15 week old Red Setter, Toby. She gave us guidance on biting, toilet training, walking and many other day to day issues. She explained everything very clearly to us and we have implemented these techniques and now have an amazingly well behaved dog. Honestly can't recommend Emily enough

If I could give more than 5 stars I really would.
Our 6 month old dog has just returned from a residential stay with Emily at Max Canine in Wales. We needed some help in a number of areas with our puppy - nipping, snatching items in the house, recall from other dogs, jumping up at people and in the kitchen, pestering the children, not settling in the lounge. We worked hard on our training but were feeling overwhelmed and needed some guidance with our lively spaniel.
We were a bit uncertain whether we should send him for a few days but i cannot say how glad we are that we did it and how much Emily has helped us. She treated him as her own dog, integrated him into their lifestyle and worked on every single issue we were having - the changes we have seen in just one week have been incredible. We received updates, photos and videos every day which was good to see progress and how he was doing.
Emily is a wonderful dog trainer - so experienced, so knowledgeable and our puppy adores her and the family. He experienced and was trained to exist with and ignore sheep, pigs, peacocks. He has more experience now with other dogs, cats. He no longer jumps at the kitchen sides, doesn’t nip the children, sits nicely while we eat. We can recall him from people, joggers, cyclists, other dogs.
We still have loads of work to do but now have a bespoke plan and support from Emily that has given us so much confidence.
Cannot recommend Max Canine enough - a life saver for us and we cannot thank Emily for all she has done to help us. ❤️

Fantastic session with Emily, she is very professional, friendly and its great to see how she began to help with our 2 dogs. Already seeing the results, as first time dog owners it was pleasing to know we had done ok so far but the tweaks and suggestions made by Emily have really helped with calming our dogs down. Great session, we would recommend Emily wholeheartedly for anyone that needs help with their dogs.

Em at Max Canine is an excellent dog trainer and behaviourist. We went to her with our Springer Spaniel and she was fantastic. She really understands dogs and helps us to communicate more effectively with them. Thanks to Max Canine we have happier, less stressful walks for both us and Teddy! Having recently purchased a Cavalier King Charles, I was reading online, you tube videos you name it to get training him. All which failed! I contacted Emily and arranged an appointment with her. She was extremely accommodating when we needed to rearrange as he was poorly. Her knowledge, techniques and approach was beyond amazing. My puppy was responding to her within minutes and doing everything we were trying to do! Explained to her what I had been trying to do, and she explained why it didn’t work and it made complete sense! Her knowledge is unreal! My puppy loved her and was even looking for her once she left. We had a session with Em on the 25th March, she met with our 2.5 year old Cairn and our 16 week old Bordernese (Border Collie Mum and Bernese Dad).
Both are coming to terms with some major upheavals, Archie the Cairn has been an only child since being a puppy and as a family we are in the process of moving home to North Wales, so his world has been turned upside down. Luca the Bordernese was a returned Puppy where the original purchasers were allergic to him, so his world has been topsy turvy.
Em started by introducing herself to each in turn and then together as a pair, she remained calm and in control and the boys soon understood the boundaries and Em introduced us to their body language so that we could step in before play escalated into a more aggressive behaviour.
We also had an issue with Archie being scared of the car, Em demonstrated how to control and encourage him to become confident around the car.
Well all her efforts have paid dividends as we now have more confidence around our dogs they are responsive to our commands without the need to raise our voices, and a bonus that Archie is no longer afraid of the car.

We had our session with Emily a week and a half ago, and I can honestly say it has been the best decision I ever made! It has completely changed my relationship with our dog! We have just this weekend managed two lovely long walks along the coastal path, something I would have been too nervous to try before. The session we had with Emily taught me so much in short space of time! I could instantly see where I was going on, and what I needed to do differently, to help my dog understand what was expected of him. The notes which followed have been priceless, and I check them regularly to remind myself what I need to be doing. Emily has also been on hand to help if I have any questions to ask! It has helped our dog become much more part of the family! I feel confident in that I now know what needs to be done! I can't thank her enough for the confidence she has given me in handling and training our working spaniel, can't wait for future adventures with our him!
