Unfair dealing and poor customer service

It’s a 5 star hotel with a customer service that is poor than a 2 star hotel. An unauthorised amendment was made to my booking and I have not been provided any resolution. The property points me back to third party and third party back to hotel saying Hotel is not accommodating. It’s such a shame and I will not recommend this property to anyone

Fatally tragic experience for a 10yr old

Please read this EXTREMELY CAREFULLY if you are planning to stay in Mayfair Resort, Gangtok.

I am writing this post as a review for Mayfair Resorts & Casino, located in Gangtok, Sikkim and more importantly, to highlight an accident that may be of importance for each family that plans to stay at this property.

In November 2019, my friend and I were planning our annual winter vacation. We both had heard quite a bit about Mayfair Gangtok and both our families were keen to explore the North-East side of India as well. Hence, we did our bit of research and decided to finalize Mayfair as our place of accommodation.
Like most of the travellers, we also paid less heed to the negative online reviews of the property and relied on the good ones to arrive at our decision. Unfortunately, this proved to be one of our biggest mistakes while planning this trip.

We checked into the property on December 25, 2019 and had a horrific incident on first night itself. In the evening, all of us were sitting in the balcony of one the rooms allotted to us. While walking back to the room, my friend's daughter (who is about 10 years old) accidentally bumped into one of the glass doors and the entire glass came crashing down on her. Now, I need to emphasize this as this isn’t a kid who was running at full speed towards the door and neither does the child have a heavy build on her which can basically shatter a glass door.
Thankfully, since she was wearing a fluffy jacket, the glass didn't hurt her upper body. But she got a deep cut in her knee and got three stitches for the same. Further, her face was badly bruised, and she had glass shards pierced into her her body.

On reporting the incident, the management of the property was totally insensitive and relatively indifferent towards the entire situation. There was no arrangement for any sort of first aid and we were rushed to the hospital via the hotel’s staff. Post the accident, they provided us with a room on the top floor of the building (we were earlier on the ground floor) and the same building DID NOT HAVE A LIFT. Further, we received no communication from the top management of the hotel regarding this and in fact, the glass was fixed the very next day and the room was subsequently allocated to someone else.

Money was the only priority for this hotel and nothing else seemed to matter to them. My only advice to those who’ve read this review: Please go there at your own peril unless the management fixes the property's infrastructure. It’s not worth risking anyone’s life.
