Extremely frustrating and non-transparent purchasing experience.
I had a terrible experience with McIntosh Controls. I placed an order online, which was processed and paid for via credit card, and I received an official order receipt for a total of $196.03. Despite the transaction being successfully completed, the company later contacted me to impose unreasonable shipping conditions.
Even though I offered to use my own DHL courier account—with all shipping costs at my own expense—to streamline international logistics, my request was categorically denied. The company instead demanded that I pay arbitrary and unjustified shipping fees—specifically $273.08 for direct shipping to Italy, compared to the $80.00 I typically pay, or $196.03 to ship to a logistics hub in Florida, despite the original order total being significantly lower.
It is unacceptable for a company to treat a customer this way after having already accepted an online order: they take the payment and then create obstacles, seemingly trying to profit excessively from shipping costs while refusing to allow the use of a customer's own courier account. I strongly advise against doing business with them if you operate internationally; there is zero transparency and their post-sale management is completely inadequate.
