I've been using McNairs for years and have never been disappointed. The prices are reasonable and the staff are always helpful and bend over to find what you need, even if it's not something they sell. Delivery is always on time and the drivers go the extra mile to put things where you need them (within reason). I won't go anywhere else.

Regularised timber is quite frankly ridiculous
Good variety of constructional timber, well priced, I ordered several times from them and you generally get a decent discount at their discretion for buying in volume.
However, I'll never get regularised timber from them ever again, I'd rather have better quality than have a discount!
First order for my latest project, out of 30+ C16 2x6s:
- One was narrower than the rest, with one side regularised and rounded while the other was cut square, missing 5 mm
- Two boards were damaged, one of them so cracked I couldn't even salvage it even for noggins
- Half of them were warped
I was short two boards so I passed a second order:
- Boards were 2 mm taller than the first order, not good when trying to get levels right for a deck
- Worst of all, I thought I was going crazy until I realised one board was actually 143 mm tall in the middle and 147 mm at each end, what an absolute joke!
Timber is supposed to be regularised and you do expect some imperfections but
I really wonder if they give such garbage to customers with an account, I think not!
I waited too long to inspect them the first time and it was the weekend the second time and I needed to get on with things with no other choice than to soldier on.

While graded and regularised construction timber is a natural product and some variation, movement and imperfections can occur within industry tolerances, had these concerns been raised with us during the project or at the time of delivery, we would absolutely have investigated immediately and arranged replacements where appropriate. We always encourage customers to contact us as soon as possible with any issues so we can resolve them quickly and minimise disruption to their work.
