Bunch of liars and cheats

Bunch of liars and cheats. Luckily I saw the scam and stopped the scam. Law suit on the way. Let's see them lose this and have cough up $10m. Classless bunch of hicks.

I am a collector got Sick and had a heart attack and needed to sell off 24 of my 90 vehicles collection. I had never sold anything at Mecum’s prior always bought and sold at Barrett Jackson for twenty years. On Tuesday in Glendale Steve mecum sales person told me don’t worry the money is there in the start of the auction. After Tuesday I wanted to pull the rest of my vehicles. The auctioneer on Tuesday rushed through the vehicles so fast. 20-30 seconds that it on the block. He didn’t try to even work the price. Then off to next one. For example 1968 Camaro RS fully restored matching numbers bought at Barrett Jackson for $80 thousand five years ago sold at mecum for only $33 thousand. CJ7 1982 decked out. Bought Barrett Jackson $78 thousand sold at mecum for $23 thousand. Collectors stay clear of mecum and don’t believe what they tell you. They will mislead you to get the vehicles then tell you you new the risk. Risk, they didn’t have any buyers there. It was almost empty when the auction started on Tuesday And the contract you sign gives them all the rights to dictate to you if you want the rest of your vehicles not auctioned yet removed because the auctioneer was rushing and not working the price. Don’t consign at Mecum’s. John burns 480-560-4390 call me anytime.

Hi John-

Our business model is such that, the more money we realize for our sellers, the more money we make. That said, our goal is to bring top dollar for every vehicle that crosses our auction block.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss any of this further.

Bought and sold at Mecum

Bought and sold at Mecum. You pay TOP, TOP dollar to be in a good time slot (as a seller), only to go thru at a time that most suits Mecum-as opposed to seller. Great for buyers though, discount after hrs/dinnertime/ghost town deals ! Big, arrogant , take it or leave it attitude, unfortunately. Lost touch with folks that really make their business work, IMHO.

They don't tell you in advance That they charge $ 150 for paper work on top of the 10% buyers fee.

They also don't mention you will pay sales tax in the state of the auction even for out of state buyers.

Overall the whole organization is cocky and rude.

Hello-

Our Bidder Registration Agreement does state the documentation fee. This covers the cost of ownership transfer. Our team handles the entire ownership transfer process, resulting in a streamlined vehicle registration process for our buyers.

Sales tax regulations are determined by each state, not by Mecum.

We would love the opportunity to further discuss any of your concerns. Please contact us if you would like.
