A 'high-IQ' version of twitter

A 'high-IQ' version of twitter. Or, the 'thinking-persons' twitter. I find the articles on history, philosophy and science far more interesting and engaging than anything you'd find on mainstream media.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

HATE SPEECH

Medium.com presents itself, to those who write for it, as an organic, warm, family of poets and writers. It is welcoming and warm and there are some excellent poets and writers. However, it is also a place where jealous, arrogant, ignorant poets and writers weaponize their words and use them to slice and destroy those who are more popular. One would also assume that Medium.com would understand what "poetic license" is, or even what poetry is. Poetry can accept as "real" that which is fantasy, that which is a person's personal view of reality. So a poet or writer is allowed to present his fabulous Greek wedding, with videos and music and a seaside resort, to a fellow woman poet of his liking whom he is NOT marrying, while other writers and poets "attend" and "dance" and otherwise "enjoy themselves." This is what poetry can be: fiction. Or a woman writes poetry about her son who seems like he is a little boy. In fact, he is a grown man who is a little boy in his mind, who who watches Mr. Rodgers and sings along with Snow White and does his best to manipulate his Mom to get a hot fudge sundae. But, since she is at the top of the ranking of poets, a jealous and not so poetic male poet inquires public records about her background, discovers not only that her son is not a little boy, but where she lives, her phone number, how much money she has in bank accounts, where she has lived, who she has been married to, all sorts of "personal" info, and he publishes it all on-line, adding that she is a liar and is writing about "her little boy" just to get attention for herself. Suddenly "hate poems" that refer to her and her almost 500 published poems are being spread all over Medium.com. Her "friends" and fellow poets on Medium, out of spite, jealousy, or simply ignorance, actively participate in this "word weaponizing" and cut her down. Medium.com allows this "hate campaign," and does nothing to protect her. She is a top-ranking poet who brings almost 8000 hits a month and has 1600 followers in ONE YEAR of writing.

When I subscribed to Medium…

When I subscribed to Medium Corporation's service a year ago I did not read the fine print that they automatically make the annual charge recurring, now unwittingly incurring another annual fee. I now find there is no way to recover my loss. This is unconscionable. There probably was no clear indication that the annual fee was set to recur.
Do not deal with this rip-off company. Stay well clear of these rip-off merchants.

9k DF backlinks from Medium.com

I am going to highlight a bit on Medium's double standards (if it's not, Medium should come forward to clarify it).

When it comes to SEO, we all know that Medium doesn't offer any of its individual contributors DoFollow backlinks.

However, an individual site, owned by the founder of Medium's largest publication (StartItUp) is having more than 9k DoFollow backlinks. How come?

I would give Medium 4 or 5 stars for…

I would give Medium 4 or 5 stars for interesting and entertaining articles (hence 2 not 1 for what I am about to say). However - having decided that my monthly payment needed to be spent elsewhere I cancelled my membership (not plain or obvious) - which I did a few days after paying the monthly fee. So cancellation does not cancel your next and future payments - but allow you to finish the MONTH YOU'VE PAID FOR - but just cancels.

So - Medium.com - nice idea - but somewhat trashed by an opaque (& potentially unfair) payment model

Took my money, then says I am not a member

I paid my $50 but every time I click on a story, it says that I have exhausted all of the free stories that I had. The message says that I need to become a member to continue. Total scam, and EXTREMELY liberal! Stay FAR away from this outfit.

There's a good number of writers who are politically biased and cannot report fairly on a national level and seem to be repeating communist propaganda. I believe this is called unrestricted warfare and are carried out by these writers attempting to change the minds of West to make people believe they are fair and peaceful communist countries are instead of numerous atrocities and negligence toward their own people. They mentioned no wrong doing of these governments and instead attack legitimate groups.

The company doesn't respect my wishes to not get any emails. I'm still receiving Medium Daily Digest and when I double checked the preferences everything was in order.

This has been the most impossible app to unsubscribe from! I tried numerous times to unsubscribe via articles, it wasn't feasible! I finally decided to go to Gmail, search for Medium, and press unsubscribe. However, tell me why I did this on Saturday at 5:05pm and still received notifications on my status bar right after?! I'm still receiving them. Approximately 10 or more each day!!!! The initial reason I wanted to unsubscribe was that they are Always bombarding me with endless notifications like a nuisance! It's extremely distracting and stressful!

if you want to rank high for your main keyword in your articles, use this site since they have high domain authority . But if you add any affiliate links there you need to add such statement at the top and beside the affiliate links

Medium took down my blog and completely suspended me after I spent 4 weeks on 27 articles which were well written and highly contextual. They want you to pay them and if you don't they just remove you. Wasn't surprised to see so many bad reviews here, thought I was alone! There are many good forums out there, best to stay away from this one, all your work goes down the drain with a click of a button

Wish recommendations were tailored, the website's good!

The categories I selected as interests to receive articles about were never received.

I'm not so interested in following individual authors or publications, I'd rather have a mixed bag that is kept fresh and updated.

I've used it for a few days and really enjoy the content and community, just wish I could have a more active and refreshing recommendation feed.

Medium Review

This website is very biased. The categories that I selected to receive articles about were never received.
I “clapped” for an article about gaslighting and those are the only articles that I have received. I chose love not chaos to read about all of the time. I don’t want to read about negativity in each email.
I also selected photography, politics, and arts as categories but never received any articles.

The website is nice and the navigation of it.

This is the main reason I didn’t purchase the subscription!
