Well, you should be more transparent on our adds. When you market a free event on your website it does not mean that it is free. I take the example of the Life drawing. How on earth you market it free... See more

Buy buying they shit subscription
A free trial that requires my banking…
A free trial that requires my banking information is crazy. What is this, 2005? I saw groups near me with 54 people attending. When I joined, suddenly the same group had no one in it.
Just tried to join a Ballroom 50-60 group…got REJECTED
Just tried to do a Ballroom 50-60 group and was rejected!!! no explanation... maybe it was due to my Physical Security project manager job? I posted a recent pic as required.. I was in a TUX! I live close by and am single.. I understand the town this is in, so this is the only reason I can figure.. Hoping all the other groups arent this subject to discrimination!
I don't recommend for organisers!
I don't recommend for organisers!! It's horrible experience if you stop paying their shitty subscription
A smelly pile of ordure.
Distance filter is useless.
Irrelevant recommendations.
Constant barrage of "try our paid version" ads.
I was referred by a friend to check it…
I was referred by a friend to check it out. I am not paying to meet people, I would pay to participate in activities, but I refuse to join another subscription that it sounds like is impossible to cancel like everyother subscription I have! NO THANKS!!
I suddenly found myself subscribed to…
I suddenly found myself subscribed to them even thought I absolutely did not intend to do it. I had a feww trial before and cancelled it so not sure how it got back. Scam.
Dont take the free trial..
Don't subscribe even for trials
Don't subscribe even for trials, once you cancel, they'll still keep you subscribed and charge you for months until you realize. Total scam.
Drugged and SA'd Meetup did Nothing
I got drugged at a meetup event and was later sexually assaulted. I told meetup and they did nothing. He still attends meetups like nothing happened, I barely leave my house. I was on the site for years as a organizer and attendee. I was very active. But no longer. My story is on medium called Why Aren't We Talking About Meetup?
DON'T PAY FOR THEIR SERVICE!
DON'T PAY FOR THEIR SERVICE!
I paid for 6 month, managed to create a group, 2 days later I logged in and it said I'm not a member anymore. My group is gone too! I contacted them via app, but never get a reply. $150USD gone!
This used to be a wonderful way to meet people…
I joined in 2018. This site was a wonderful way to meet people, prior to Bending Spoons monetizing and paywalling everything. Trying to delete acct, I'm routed to a page that states it will take me to a form, and the hyperlink for the form routes me back to the instruction page. My most sincere hope is that Bending Spoons goes under as a company.
Seems like I avoided a disaster
Was just about to join Meetup but thankfully I read all the horrible reviews before.
They sucked me into a free trial
They sucked me into a free trial, then I couldnt cancel it in time before they started charging me. They put up a barrier of a circular dumb chatbot that offered the wrong advice. I couldn't find a human agent to solve.
Never have i ever been spammet so much…
Never have i ever been spammet so much as these people do! have call them, mailed them, disable my sub, have done everything. They keep spamming my mail every single day 5-6 time a day!!
Not interested
Donna was just invited to join meetup. I tried Meetup when Donna was in Ohio and all the folks ghosted Donna. Even though I feel lonely I push through.
They allow fake reviews on events
I host events on Meetup as an organiser (not an owner so I don't have access to a lot of features).
Someone from a recent event posted a wildly and completely untrue review defaming me and other people.
Several people reported it including me but Meetup wouldn't remove it. I then sent a request through their support system explaining that the review was completely false and they still would not remove it.
THEY ARE MAKING THE PLATFORM UNSAFE for other users who will see FAKE reviews thinking they are true and real when they are not.
This fake review goes against all of Meetups safety rules and they still won't remove it.
Great Concept But…
Great concept but hard to execute. Anyone with an interest can invite others to participate in their idea. It could be as simple as a once a month dinner or, entering into unknown and unregulated territory; group meetings of anxious and depressed people getting advice from other anxious and depressed people, with no expertise to guide.
I did 2 dinners.I missed out on previous dinners by same organizer so these were the last two invitations of the series. I sat around with people I had nothing in common with, wondering why I was there, and felt the same vibe returned. At the end of the final event no one exchanged numbers or pledged to continue seeing one another. At least not in front of me…heh
It was a bit grim but I give the organizer kudos for planning. I tried to get hold of him on the site but it had new graphics and no way to reach out. I guess activities are renewable and as dinners had run their course part of the record was not available. BTW. I wish the enthusiasm shown in the slick AI graphics in assorted activity groups was anywhere close to the illustrations.
I am trying to cancel my subscription but already there are obstacles. Still waiting for the “link “ promised to reset my password, with other challenges ahead it appears.
MeetUp hijacked my group and demanded a ransom
I have had a group on MeetUp for almost a year and have never paid a subscription. Last month I had many problems just trying to change the email on my account. First, they simply removed the group from me. After much discussion I managed to get the group back. Now, after a month, they removed the group from me again, claiming that I had not repaid the subscription, so I lost the group. I informed them dozens of times that I NEVER PAID, so there's no way I could have failed to pay... They were completely inflexible and said they would only return the group to me upon payment. In other words, they waited for the right moment to seize the group and ask for money to release it. Now, they have presented possible solutions, but they have blocked my account and I can't even respond. Therefore, I requested that they close my group and I will NEVER USE THE PLATFORM AGAIN.
Since the plataform was sold to a new owner it got much worse.
The lambs
The lambs, the poor lambs. The Italian hit mob have struck again. For what was some 18 months ago free to peruse, the Italians bought up the site and introduced money in to the equation whereby organizer fees doubled or more overnight to £300 + and new members were charged some £100 per year to view what was previously free. They have now nearly doubled the fee again to £180 and to top it all the "most popular" weekly amount, a mouth watering £10 a week; that's £520 a year !! Unreal.!!!
Of course they will put it down to an error but if you view the same info on a PC rather than a mobile the monthly "most popular" fee equates to £158 per year. Their shinanigans knows no limit so beware ya newbies for despite them saying "cancel anytime" you will likely find no way to cancel your credit card and they will illegally keep taking yer money. If you sign up via PC you may find you can get on board without giving them your credit card info so you will then be in a similar situation to long term existing members.
With practice you ignore the constant pop up money screens and blurred images and find that you can at least view participating members listed as attending an event. What you can't do unlike a year back is view all members of a group unless you pay up. Just tred carefully.
What an amateur bunch of corporate clowns.
