On the hottest days, utilities pay approved demand response aggregators like Meltek to reduce demand instead of running expensive, polluting peaker plants. Meltek coordinates those reductions across thousands of homes and shares the payment with the customers who make them. How it works: sign up for free with your utility account number. Before a peak demand event, Meltek sends you an alert. During the event, use less electricity: raise the thermostat, hold off on laundry or the dishwasher, or let a connected smart thermostat, home battery or EV charger adjust automatically. Once your utility sends your meter data, Meltek credits your reward based on how much you reduced compared with your usual usage for those hours. Meltek is an approved demand response aggregator for Con Edison, works with PSEG Long Island and Orange and Rockland customers, and won the Residential category of the 2025 Con Edison Smart Usage Partner Awards.
