Mephisto Shoes Reviews 

I discovered Mephisto shoes end of the nineties. Ever since I only bought Mephisto shoes, as they were extremely durable and well fit to wear shoes many consecutive hours in a day (16hours).
Over time, and especially the last 5 years I have noticed a substantial degrade in the make quality of Mephisto shoes. Stitching coming loose after just 8 months, soles coming loose after 6 months, zippers breaking after 8 months, but also the leather finish coming loose just after 4 months.
Durability of the shoes has seriously diminished over time.

First, let me say I would have given these shoes no stars if possible.I bought 2 pairs of Mephisto shoes from Zappos. Both went on my shelf because I had previously bought the exact same style at a shoe store in a mall that I have enjoyed wearing. Loved the shoe, so fashionable and comfortable. I took one of the pairs out to wear about 2 months ago and have worn them
about 20 times. I’m in Cancun on vacation now and one of the shoes literally crumbled. The cork sole completely crumbled and fell apart as I was walking! I’ve taken photos of the shoes and the of the crumbled one and when I went to take a pic of the good shoe, I
can see that that one is also starting to crumble! I don’t understand it. What can be done to rectify this? The second pair hasn’t been worn yet. Thank goodness I brought another pair of shoes on vacation as well. I don’t know what I would have done. Who can I send the photos to?

I have been buying Mephisto for many years , own many pairs and have recommended them umpteen times. Unfortunately the zip came off my left Amory shoe/sneaker after 1 and a half years of wearing them albeit sporadically. I cannot understand why so many of these shoes have zippers as on the other Mephistos I own they also are getting looser.I am rather disappointed.Anyone with similar experience??

... or you will only have problems. I bought a pair on June 27th, they charged me - not pre-charge as everyone else does until the purchase is sent, and no shoes so far ( July 12th ). I have got in touch with them, and the only answer I get is that there is a delay - but they are using the money I gave them, right? No precise answer about the expected delivery, because I am sure that they don´t know where the shoes are in their system. This is unbelievable, I don´t recommend anyone to use their online service, it doesn´t work.

The Mephisto sandals I ordered are great. Love them. Nothing wrong with the product. BUT I am in the UK and the delivery process and the extra cost was not acceptable. First, I was charged VAT by Mephisto, who are in Germany, then I was asked for over £50, which was the UK VAT, before Parcelforce would deliver the parcel to us. We expected Mephisto to refund the VAT but they didn't. So I have been double charged for tax. My husband phoned Mephisto this morning and they don't seem to be set up, as large companies such as Amazon would, to sort the VAT issue out. The delivery was also a mess. Mephisto got DHL to deliver them to the UK, then Parcelforce to do the bit to our address. However, noone provided Parcelforce with an email address for us so it took days before we discovered the parcel was waiting at a depot for us to pay customs charges (they send you a letter!). My husband eventually phoned to pay the customs charges, still assuming Mephisto would refund the VAT, and Parcelforce didn't register that it had been paid so the sandals sat in the depot until we brought it to their attention. Why Mephisto would use DHL then pass to a different courier is beyond me - it's licence for it to go wrong!

I have been wearing Mephisto shoes for years. They are beautifully made, so last a long time. Worth the price!

THE WORST OF THE WORST - STAY AWAY FROM MEPHISTO

Between my wife and myself we have approximately thirty pairs of Mephisto shoes, sandals, and boots. We sent a pair of our Mephisto sandals to Mephisto for refurbishment. Mephisto advertises that Mephisto will refurbish their shoes and sandals “…to like-new condition.” Mephisto’s refurbishment service is one of the primary reasons for our purchasing of Mephisto footwear. We have used Mephisto to refurbish a number of pairs of our Mephisto shoes and sandals. Several months ago, we sent a pair of sandals to Mephisto for refurbishment, and Mephisto returned to sandals to us stating that they do not refurbish sandals. However, I received an email from Mephisto early this morning (04/12/2013) stating that:

“This is a courtesy reminder from Mephisto Resole to remind you of the refurbishment option for your favorite shoes and sandals.
All work is done by our expert craftsmen, utilizing all original Mephisto materials to rebuild your footwear to like-new condition.”

Given the foregoing, it appears that Mephisto has been less than honest with us. If Mephisto did not have the refurbishment service, we would not have purchased their footwear, and we certainly will never purchase any Mephisto products in the future.

Answer to Mephisto:
Most of our numerous pairs of Mephistos were purchased at Mephisto stores in Paris. Also, some were purchased at stores in the USA. What does the point of purchase have to do with Mephisto's false advertising vis-a-vis refurbishment?

I don’t recommend buying these online from Mephisto. If you need to return them you’re on your own and if you don’t have access to a commercial courier account it’s expensive…too risky. Next time I’ll order through a good company with reasonable return policy.

Please do not order anything from this company.You will not receive a refund if you returned the goods.

Bought mephisto bradley trainers after only 4 months the heels had worn down they said they would have to be returned to France and I would then be without them for 6 weeks I've emailed to get other options from them but know reply from mephisto having spent £215 on these shoes the customer service is not very caring and feel I've waisted my money

My suggestions:
(1) do NOT leave the store without making sure you try on the specific shoes they are selling (mine came from another store and didn't fit - but i found out on the way to the seahawks game and had no other shoes)
(2) do not let them bait you into buying insoles
(3) If you do buy insoles, do not try on any shoes without first trying on the shoes without the WITHOUT the insoles because the insoles change the fit.

5 stars for Mephisto Corporate, 1 Star for Mephisto Seattle.

Flew into town for the Seahawks game and needed a good pair of waterproof shoes. I got stiffed by Mephisto Seattle because the Darwin shoes they "brought from another store" for me didnt fit. They had me return to the store in the afternoon to pick up the shoes and they had them nicely bagged and ready to go - i should have unboxed them right there and tried them on . . . and they should have suggested the same.

THis put me in a bind because I didnt really test out the shoes until on the way to the ballgame, and as the day wore on the fit got worse and worse. These definitely did NOT fit like the ones i tried on in the store. Which makes one wonder about the story behind why they had me return to get shoes and why they didn't have me try them on.

After I flew back home I checked my receipt and the receipt showed me buying a size 11, but the shoes given to me were 11.5.

I called the store and their solution was they would give me free shelf space to resell the shoes and the owner wouldnt take a commission (gee thanks). Herein lies the rub . . . if you want to sell high-end shoes, act like a high-end shoe seller and not a discount, cut corners type of store.

I ended up calling corporate and they bailed Mephisto Seattle out . . . by taking back the shoes that clearly didn't fit (based on the pictures I sent them) and allowing me to do an exchange (thanks Karen and the rest of corporate).

My suggestion is if you like the shoes, just buy online and skip the potential drama from the store. THe shoes I ended up exchanging for - Mephisto Polo's - I got on sale (corporate offered me the sale price early - another big league move).

My advice is be careful, as this experience was my first where higher-end and great service were miles apart.

Worst customer care! Bad product quality. Purchased TALIANA CEYLAN 9914 BLACK - 6.5 on their online shop for 260 EUR plus DHL shipping cost. Received the package on November 30. On December 9 the rubber sole came off almost completely from the leather. Sent photos, video and email to their Mephisto Italy email address, no reply. Called them 3 times "we are sending your claim to the relevant office"... still no reply. Really bad experience. I will never buy anything from these people again.

The high pricing is deserved by good quality, functionality and looks

I purchased Mephisto sandals at a footwear store in Calgary. I have always worn Birkenstocks and when I saw the softness of Mephisto sole I wanted to try them . I bought them to go to Europe and within 5 months the heels were wearing and breaking apart. I am not one to want a refund but I feel it is Important to share one’s experience when buying higher end footwear. I had never had trouble with Birkenstock in the past and wanted to let Mephisto know I was disappointed . I did not have a receipt but their customer service agent asked me to return them for another pair. Once they were received it was apparent I had been incorrectly fitted by the store . I wear a different size than Birkenstock. They advised I should try a different size. In any case Mephisto stands behind their product and made this situation right! Their sandals were ok, I had been sold the wrong size which led to them wearing poorly. I must mention the customer service agent I dealt with who was excellent in how she handled the situation . Thanks so much to Sydney W at Mephisto who ensured this situation was made right.

Bought Tany sandals in April and ankle strap snapped off base as I was walking along .
Rang immediately to get advice on how to get refund ( 10.9.2022) . Done all they requested but they keep changing the goalposts and refusing to give me confirmation of when I will receive it . I will never use this company again and nor should you if you want high quality products/ service . Shocking
