Horrible experience

Horrible experience! My hardwood floor immediately started denting and scratching and only my husband and I live in the house and only wear socks indoors. Our downstairs floor from 1986 looks fantastic and withstood pets and children. Mercier will not stand behind their product and the quality is atrocious. There are reviews all over the internet complaining that their floors dent and scratch.

2001 rosewood- the best.

I have had Mercier solid rosewood floors throughout my house since 2001. The finish is incredibly tough; the salesperson did a demo trying to scratch it. The floor looks as good in 2025 as when it was installed. I do not know if the quality has gone down since, but if it's still like it was in 2001 - well, that wood is the best I have ever seen anywhere, in the US and in Europe. I realize this review is supposed to be "within a year" but I want to stress the quality of the product I received.

I purchased the naked Herringbone…

I purchased the naked Herringbone engineered flooring twice from Mercier. The first time it was installed, there were so many gaps, when we reached out to the company they blamed it on the installer. The planks were bent and warped. The groove and tongue didn’t match at all. We had a flood and unfortunately I purchased the same floor again and hired a new installer and purchased an extra 300sqf of material. The same thing happened but this time we had extra wood so my installer picked the better pieces. Again the company didn’t stand behind their product.
I don’t recommend their products, I’ve spent 45K just on the flooring materials and I’m unhappy with my floors.
Terrible customer service and quality for 14$ per sqf.

I wish I had read these reviews before…

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing. We purchased their white oak hardwood and about 15% of our installed boards have cracks in them. We contacted the company we purchased from and they brought a Mercier rep over. Mercier claims that the cracks are from "significant" water being used on the floor. We have not used a significant amount of water and have followed their care instructions for cleaning. The floors look awful and I wish we had not installed them. I would not recommend Mercier - they quality is terrible, they are expensive and the customer service is horrible.

The Absolute Worst…

Our Mercier White Oak hardwood floors are the worst! They were very expensive and did not hold up very well right from the beginning. They sent and scratch so easily. You can’t even walk on them in socks with slightly warm feet because you leave footprints.
And honestly, their customer service is as bad as their product. When I tried to work with customer service on these issues, the man was extremely rude and condescending. They did take a piece of my flooring to test its quality and it came back exceeding their standards. Wow! How sad is that!?

Poor quality, weirdly short boards

Sadly, wish I had read these reviews. Expensive product for poor quality and weirdly short boards. What a waste. Of course no returns and no response from company when I called. Avoid!

We just installed 1400 sqft of Mercier…

We just installed 1400 sqft of Mercier engineered maple. Love the look but it's not a quiet floor. My installer installed 5/8 plywood over the 5/8 OSB. The floor is super strong now and the hardwood was glued and nailed. All I hear all over the floor area little popping noises. We installed cheaper wood upstairs and it worked out much much better. The engineered floor from Mercier has cuts on the bottom of the boards to the depth of the veneer layer. There was nothing on the website or anywhere that explained this. I think this does more harm than good as it leads to more movement. Of course you get the same BS answers about this from everyone involved. Installing hardwood now seems to be such a crap shoot. The 2500 finish seems to be amazing but I was really hoping for a quiet floor and it isn't.

I can't recommend Mercier

I can't recommend Mercier. We've had an awful experience. After investing $40,000 in the product + installation of the Fuego White Oak with Intact 2500 Finish it is not performing as advertised at all. According to their lab test it "meets their specifications" but in reality our installer came weeks after install and said it already looked 10 years old and that it's performing as a run-of-the-mill product would, not as a premium product should.
Further, their representative was not friendly during a home visit. According to her "Mercier doesn't care what the customer thinks" - that's an actual verbatim quote. And "some things may be lost in translation in the marketing material because it's french first translated to english" - What? That's our problem or our fault how?
We had to pivot and stop installing the wood in our house because of the poor performance, leaving us with about 500sq ft of unused and unopened product that they won't even accept a return on.
This has been a nightmare situation - stay away.
