Unfortunately, we have used Mereway bathroom furniture…
We have used Mereway bathroom furniture in our ensuite, main bathroom and cloakroom. These were installed, professionally, in 2016, 2015 and 2014, respectively.
They looked very good.
However, over the last year or two we noticed the doors were delaminating. Then, six months ago the bath panel suddenly delaminated.
I appreciate these are out of the 5 year warranty, nevertheless, for all rooms to experience the same failure seems too much of a coincidence.
Mereway stated that "Bathrooms need to be well ventilated and all moisture wiped dry off the furniture.". The ensuite shower is rarely used (maybe 6 times a year, when we have guests stay) and the cloakroom does not have a shower or bath.
Are we really expected to wipe down the whole bathroom twice a day when my wife and I shower?
Two of the three finishes have been discontinued.
So, it seems that the products are expected to just fall out of warranty - and then everything has to be replaced. This is not an expense I am prepared to bear every 6 years.
The units are clearly not fit for purpose. I suspect Mereway bathrooms use the same manufacturing techniques as the sister company, Mereway Kitchens. The glue used needs to be able to withstand higher humidity in a bathroom. Although, that doesn't explain the issues in the cloakroom and ensuite. Perhaps it is just down to cheap manufacturing techniques.
A quick check of their website shows incorrect title, broken links, known security vulnerabilities, etc. i.e. not professional.
I would not recommend Mereway under any circumstances.
