My Merlin Annual Pass: Best Decision I’ve Ever Made – And The Epic Time I’m Having!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you’re on the fence about getting a Merlin Annual Pass, let me save you the worry: just do it. I signed up a few months back, and it’s completely transformed my free time – here’s exactly how it’s been for me:
- Endless choice, no extra cost: I’ve already ticked off Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, LEGOLAND Windsor, Chessington World of Adventures, and Shrek’s Adventure London – all included in my pass. No scrambling for tickets every time, no hidden fees, just turn up and go!
- Pure thrill heaven: I’ve been on Nemesis Reborn three times now, ridden Hyperia at Thorpe Park from dawn till dusk, and even braved The Swarm in the front row – and I can go back whenever I want! No rushing to cram everything into one expensive day trip.
- Perfect for every mood: When I want adrenaline, I hit the big rides. When I want something more relaxed, I’ve popped into Sea Life centres, Madame Tussauds, or wandered the beautiful grounds at Warwick Castle. It works for solo trips, dates, or full days out with mates and family.
- So much more than entry: I get early access to rides on busy days, discounts on food, drink and souvenirs, plus exclusive passholder events – I even got to visit Alton Towers’ Scarefest before it opened to the public last year!
- It pays for itself so fast: I’d have spent more on two single visits to Alton Towers alone than my whole pass cost. Every extra trip since then has been effectively free – it’s easily the best value for money entertainment I’ve ever bought.
This isn’t just a ticket – it’s a licence to have fun whenever I want. I’ve had days I’ll remember forever, tried things I’d never have got round to, and still have dozens of attractions left to visit. If you love days out, you will not regret it – I’m already counting down to my next adventure!

Purchased a "Stay for a Night and Play for a Year" family package deal on 12 March 2026. At the time, our youngest was under 2, but he turned 2 the very next month—a reality of a 12-month annual pass. Because of a rigid automated system loop, they refuse to issue his pass or offer any common-sense solution for our upcoming family trips to SEA LIFE Birmingham and Cadbury World, despite us spending over an hour being bounced between unhelpful support agents. They are hiding behind technicalities and washing their hands of young families. Disgraceful customer care. Reference: 5053537.

The carpark charge is expensive. The food is expensive on site, take a packed lunch to save the cost. Take a 1l bottle of water so you dont have to stand and wait. There is no significant perks other than the entry cost spread over multiple visits. The pass doesnt cover the RAP so you have to take a gamble on if there is availability or not. If you have additional needs and struggle the pass isnt worth the hassle that comes with the RAP. Children with additional needs cant go without RAP. If you cant get a booking you cant make use of the pass. Its mega expensive to buy fast track, the pass is only great for thrill seekers who are prepared to wait hours for a ride, or live in close proximity to the attraction. I wont be buying a merlin pass again it works out that paying for entry on a one off visit is much cheaper.

We have used our passes several times now, including Legoland, Warwick Castle and several London attractions. It is easy to book and has saved us a lot of money.

We arrived early about 9:45, by the time we got into the park it was 10 am, straight onto spinball, 10 min wait, then we made our way to x-sector, 35 min wait for the smiler, it’s definitely feeling its age now, let’s just say it’s not as smooth as it used to be, carts are looking a bit dull and are starting to rust in places, but still a great roller coaster, next up was oblivion, best drop coaster in the uk, after all these years , but the area could do with another permanent ride, we made our way to thirteen and Rita, we didn’t manage to get on Rita I don’t mind a 60 min wait but when it’s 90 that’s not for me, we moved onto the wicker man, 30 min wait then the Congo river rapids and moved onto nemesis reborn, Galactica and then some intoxicator, all in all a great day out, not to busy and used our 20% discount for some drinks , can’t wait to go back

Received the basic pass as part of an offer on booking an overnight stay at Alton Towers. Definitely worth it as we are using it plenty to take our six year old to various of Merlin attractions over the year, saving a significant amount of money in the process.

I love my merlin pass. Great perks and allows me to visit my favourite attractions all year. The pre booking process could be slightly easier/more convenient with an app though in my opinion.

Since having our merlin passes days out are just easy and cheaper. We got our annual Merlin pass as part of our stay at the Chessington resort and have since visited a further 2 times and plan to visit Legoland and Warwick castle. Just so easy and great family days out. Thank you for helping us to create such fantastic memories.

Got a Merlin pass with an offer when we booked a nights stay at LEGOLAND. Have used it in London to go to The Shrek Experience and Sealife which were right next to each other.
Great experiences and something we’d never be able to afford to do as a family of 5 without the passes!
Would love to see a few more experiences in the South West of England that we could use our passes for but nice to do a few things in London.

Merlin have managed to make the simplest thing hair-pullingly complicated!
To stay at a hotel all you have to do is go to the website and book the hotel. Then go to a different website and get the entry ticket for the passholder and then go to a different website and get the "friends and family" ticket for the non passholder and then go to a different website to get the access card for the passholder. 4 website, 3 payments - batshit crazy and takes forever
You can phone their booking desk but they can only book the hotel
If you are not a passholder you can go to one website, book the room and all the tickets. there is a huge discount for the tickets making it impossible to know if being a member is a saving
It is worth the effort but......

Enjoyed the London eye, lovely clear day could see 360° view. Queuing was not to bad, but stopping everyone to take a photo made it slower. Shrek experience was lovely both for kids and adults. You enter and the queue for a lift but hot waiting. Then you queue again before you get to the experience. Waited about 30 plus to get there. Again things were slowed by picture taking.

Cancelled my gold passes, had them for 5 years can't seem to get the dates I want now especially with ride access, ride access should be included with the gold pass if you are disabled and not book separately on a different app as most of the time you can't book the same day

First time at Alton Towers. It's a great place for the brave. We went on a very hot Friday in July. We knew it would be busy but were date restricted. The park was inundated with school trips (as we expected) which in turn forces your hand to buy a FastTrack pass to make sure you get the best of your day. Even with a FastTrack pass there was a fair amount of queuing. The queue times for the big rides were often over 1 hour with frequent closing of rides which can be frustrating when you have waited a long time.
More shaded areas and water fountains would help on really hot days. The water coming out the fountains is very slow which creates long queues. Park was super clean and the grounds are stunning. All staff we encountered were really helpful and friendly. We didn't stay over at the park hotels as I couldn't justify the price against the reviews.

So far this year we’ve been to Thorpe Park and Chessington world of adventure, both have been great. We went to the London eye, the Dungeons and Madam Tussauds two days ago. I am disabled and have used the access pass which in the theme parks is basically a virtual queue so that you can rest before rejoining the real queue. The annual pass is great and a very economical way of doing all of the Merlin attractions.
The only downside was the state of some of the restrooms mostly because some people are mingers but also trying to get the automated hand washing machines in Chessington to work was impossible.

Never had an annual pass before but since Feb I’ve gone from being an essential pass holder to a Gold pass holder. Loving the freedom of being able to go in parks for however long I like without having the feeling of wasting a day ticket & with the Gold pass the discounts of food/drinks & merchandise is brilliant & the free parking is great too. Plus the discount on hotel stays is great too. Would recommend for anyone who loves the parks.

I have been trying to purchase Merlin Annual Passes for my family of three through my work's Rewards Gateway scheme for over two weeks now, and the whole experience has been incredibly frustrating.
Initially, the Rewards Gateway link to the Merlin website worked. I was able to select the passes, enter all the pass holder details, upload photos, and complete every step right up until payment. Every single time, however, the website failed when I clicked to pay. I repeated the entire process countless times, wasting a huge amount of time re-entering details and uploading photos.
A few days later, the problem became even worse. Now, whenever I access Merlin through the Rewards Gateway link, I receive the message: "Unable to load data required to view." This has been happening consistently for the past six days.
Rewards Gateway confirmed to me that Merlin is aware of the issue and is working on it. Today I also contacted Merlin directly, and the adviser confirmed the same thing. Unfortunately, they couldn't provide any timeframe for a fix and couldn't help me purchase the passes at the discounted rate because they said it must be done through the Rewards Gateway link.
At this point, I honestly struggle to believe that a genuine technical issue would take over two weeks to resolve, especially when it completely prevents customers from making a purchase. While I have no proof, it does make me wonder whether this is more than just a bug and whether Merlin has deliberately allowed the issue to continue during one of the busiest times of the year to limit the number of discounted annual passes being sold. If that isn't the case, the lack of urgency in resolving the problem certainly gives that impression.
For my family, the difference is almost £100. That saving is the only reason we were planning to buy the annual passes in the first place. Paying full price simply isn't something we can afford right now, so we've missed out entirely.
What makes this even more disappointing is seeing reports from other customers that Merlin has honoured discounted prices or refunded the difference for some employee benefit schemes, while those of us using Rewards Gateway have simply been told to wait indefinitely with no solution and no alternative way to purchase the passes. Whether there is a valid reason for this or not, it feels inconsistent and unfair from a customer's perspective.
Please don't advertise discounted annual passes through employee benefit schemes if customers are unable to buy them when they need them. You've wasted hours of my time with repeated booking attempts, entering the same details over and over again, only to be met with errors every time. The whole experience has been extremely disappointing, and sadly my family has now missed out because we simply cannot afford to pay the extra £100 for the passes.

I was tryng to book merlin annual pass through my work portal and due to merlin dumb team the site is currently crashed for every work portal. Customer service team is horrible and no help at all. They are doing descrimination and giving the difference back to blue light card people belongs to NHS. But totally refused to pay other work portals like reward gateways or perks to work. This is highly un professional that one of their colleagues agreed to pay the difference and given that in written to my NHS friend. But playing totally dumb with others and refusing to help at all. For the family of 5 or 6 its like 200 pounds extra to pay for essential pass. Very very unhappy with their behaviour.
