The Experience Doesn't Live Up to the High Pricetag
The good part of my experience at MICS was that the venue was gorgeous and the food and drinks were delicious. The rest did not meet my expectations. I rented their signature room for a milestone birthday, but we didn't receive anything resembling "signature" service.
First, there should've been a much more detailed introduction to the karaoke system. Me and several of my guests spent half the night trying to get the song list to display in English instead of Chinese and the search function was useless. Then the equipment stopped working altogether, and it took a good 30 minutes to get someone to answer the call button and then fix it, which completely killed the vibe. And it wasn't until the very end of the night that one of my guests discovered you could use a QR code on the screen to select songs because not one staff person mentioned that option (but even that app was difficult to operate). As a result, only three people got to sing and I wasn't one of them even though it was my birthday. Our host should have checked the equipment, given us a demo, and made sure we understood how to find songs.
Second, the F&B service was disorganized and took entirely too long. I thought Tyler was going to be our designated host, but a different person came in every time we rang so people's orders were getting confused and a couple didn't show up at all. I ordered Package B and asked Tyler to send out the water and appetizer first then bring the wine once a few more guests arrived. It took forever for one tiny ramekin of spinach dip, and by the time someone brought plates and utensils it had gotten cold. The wine never showed up at all and I had to follow up to get it deducted from my bill.
Third, I was told that my birthday cake would be brought out with some fanfare and served to my guests. However, because no staff member was managing the time or communicating with me, they didn't bring the cake until our reservation was basically over. They rushed through the birthday fanfare so fast that I didn't even get a picture and we had to slice and serve the cake ourselves as they were rushing us out of the room.
Finally, instead of taking accountability for all of the dropped balls, the manager Roderick made excuses and even blamed us for some of the issues (like implying that the malfunctioning machine was our fault because we somehow should have known not to use the Spotify app). The bottom line is I chose this venue for a very special occasion and I expected a greater level of care and hospitality, especially since I spent over $1,200. The value and service my guests and I received just didn't live up to the price tag.
As I was cashing out at the end of the night, the manager made a comment about how common it was to get chargebacks in Atlanta, but that wouldn't happen nearly as much if people had a great experience and felt like they got their money's worth. I would love to patronize this venue again if they completely turned around their service and management, but until that time I wouldn't recommend MICS or give them any more of my money.
