Kitchen Refurb

Really happy with my new kitchen and the whole experience from start to finish. The quality of the units and worktops is excellent and the finished kitchen looks clean, modern and exactly how I wanted it.

A big thank you to the designer who came out initially and designed the layout for me. He was very helpful, easy to deal with and made sure everything worked well in the space.

Overall a great service and a very professional job. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to get a new kitchen.

Please can someone teach these people …

Please can someone teach these people how to make a proper pie pastry. Just tried to eat a bulletproof steak and onion pie. Shockingly poor. Ditto the very heavy and doughy croissant. If you market yourself on your cuisine please live up to the promise.

Very pleased with the whole process

Very pleased with the whole process, Andy who came to measure up and design was prompt, came with lots of different designs and ideas. The kitchen arrived the next week, the quality was better than I expected.

I had my own fitter but he did say the cabinets were strong and good quality.

After looking locally for a new kitchen …

After looking locally for a new kitchen I was amazed at the cost for a small kitchen. Then discovered Midland Kitchens, 400 miles and a ferry ride away from my home! The price of Midland Kitchens was less than half and probably the same quality. They were so helpful and delivered my kitchen on time, to my door. There was one problem with a door too large which they quickly dispatched a replacement. So happy with Andy and the team, would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Midland Kitchens.

What can I say..... Well what a fantastic company, Andy came round to do a design for our new kitchen it looked absolutely fantastic and he was really helpful with his advise. The kitchen units came really quickly, there was only one problem and that was a shortage of a couple of door fronts, this was soon rectified by Andy, Then the kitchen fitted went and installed the kitchen for us stupidly cutting the worktops short my vision was now clouded on my kitchen after a phone call to Andy explaining this problem he made arrangements for new worktops at a reduced price which we was very grateful off. I would really recommend Midland Kitchens as they are very helpful and extremely understanding, a fantastic company.

Midland kitchens

I have had two kitchens. I put one in a rental property and one in my own home. The carcasses are strong, doors were a good even colour and well made. The kitchens were delivered within 3 weeks by polite delivery men. Very pleased.

Excellent service

We purchased our kitchen from Midland Kitchens December 2016
I would like to say that the whole customer experience was excellent starting with the initial meeting with the represenative "Mark" who came to out to our home. He listened to what we wanted and then done us a 3d plan which we was very impressed with.
The quote came in a lot cheaper than any of our other quotes. We were a bit apprehensive thinking that we might be compromising on quality by going with a smaller business. Mark assured us we would not be dissapointed with the quality of the kitchen as they manufacture the carcusses themselves and are delivered built. The doors we were shown were exactly what we were looking for good quality at an attractive price.

We decided to go with the company and payed our deposit and liked the fact it was balance on delivery because we could check the goods before paying.
Once we took delivery of the kitchen our fitters got to work fitting it. As with all projects like this you expect a few hiccups along the way which we did experience but all was handled and resolved quickly.

We were even contacted every few days during the fit to make sure everything was ok and if we needed anymore bits etc.

Our fitter did struggle with reading the plan and mark was able to guide him through it. We did end up with a bit of material left over (plinths etc) and we were not offered a refund for these!
We did however mange to re-use them in the utility though.

The screws for the handles were no good either (they were the wrong size) Thankyou for sending correct ones next day.

We are very happy with the end result and pleased that we shopped around and come accross this company as it has saved us £££££s

Well done midland kitchens !!!!!!!!!!!

Decent

GOOD SERVICE

I Came across midland kitchens on eBay they seemed very competitive so I sent my plan over for a quote .The price was attractive even with delivery to Manchester so I placed my order with mark. Paying just a 10% deposit the balance on delivery which was a relief because I could check everything was ok before paying. The delivery was prompt the driver called me an hour before he was arriving. After reading some reviews I was a little worried and didn't know what to expect. However everything ran smoothly the quality of the carcasses were better than expected. I am very pleased with my kitchen and would recommend Midland Kitchens I had no problems at all.

AVOID at all costs!!

My full review has been published on Krypton Kitchens website as this is the other name they trade under - same boss same fitters - same problems!
cupboard doors & doors don't line up properly, worktop left with blister on the edge where the edging strip was very badly fitted - its ugly & sticks out like sore thumb! A 3 day estimated for took over a week & the faults on snagging list still haven't been rectified - the manager ignores texts or calls all the time. Very disappointing & stressful experience all in all - no sink or water in kitchen for a whole week is not acceptable by any stretch of the imagination! Their fitters are lax too - the earliest anyone turned up each day was 11 to 11.30am so part time really! A very un professional company - as someone else said in another review - don't let the initial charm fool you into believing you will be getting a great deal etc!
By all means order a kitchen from them BUT get your own fitters or DIY!!

Also trading as Krypton Kitchens

Ive posted this same review for KryptonKitchens as they are the same company. Have a look at the reviews for them. There are a number of similar stories

Well I’m seriously disappointed by the kitchen from Midland kitchens. I would not recommend buying from them. The short version of this story is that I don’t think quality of the carcasses matches up to that advertised, the end panels which should match the doors was obviously substituted for a cheaper and very different alternative, and major delays should be expected.

I was looking for a handleless kitchen and Midlands kitchen did a range that looked pretty good at a very attractive price. I ordered a sample door from them which took two weeks to arrive instead of the 2-3 days as advertised. Turned out their suppliers, who they use to send the samples out directly, had caused delays. They simply resell the doors and only make the carcasses themselves, which is fine.

I confirmed the list of units and mock-up I had done and then made the order. Since the sample had taken two weeks to deliver, they said they would attempt to speed up delivery. However the delivery was confirmed for the standard 3 weeks away on a Monday. The Friday before the delivery day, I called and confirmed the Monday delivery date, since I had kitchen fitters booked for Tuesday. I waited for most of Monday before calling in again. I was told there was a mistake and it would be coming out the next day on the Tuesday. Tuesday came and went, and was told that delivery would now be on the Wednesday. On the Wednesday, I got a call that the delivery would be very late that day. I agreed that would be ok since I had pushed the kitchen fitters back for the next day, but then an hour later got another call saying that the delivery would not be able to come out. However they would be willing to deliver at 6am in the morning on Thursday. By this time I was down £400 in deposits for booking a kitchen fitter, since each time I was given assurances then cancelled. I was offered £100 discount which I accepted however when the time came to pay, I was charged full price and was told there was no note of this offer. In the end there was a £50 discount applied

This delivery did not include the doors for the cabinets as this was what was holding up the delivery so they offered a separate delivery for the doors so they could deliver the carcasses earlier.

So on to the carcasses. This is the description on the site
White Laminate Carcasses
This 18mm thick White Laminate Carcass is made from the densest MFC on the market. Every single component is edged on all sides in thick shock absorbent PVC edging unlike most manufacturers who use a paper 0.2mm edging and do not edge every component on every side. This cabinet also comes complete with a solid back-panel unlike other manufacturers who use a thin, cheap hardboard back-panel and because of this, we can offer a lifetime guarantee on all cabinets.

I also emailed them about the thickness of the carcass backs and they confirmed that the backs and drawers were 18mm thick

However just like the other manufacturers they mention, the carcasses are not edged on all sides. In fact the top, bottom, and back edges are left unedged. When i complained about it, the answer was that the description was for an older model of carcass which didn’t have the 18mm back . And with these "upgraded" units they didn’t need the edging. And then offered to send me a roll of edging so I could repair anything that went wrong since I was so concerned.

Typically when shopping around for a kitchen, edging for cabinets ranges from 0.1 - 1mm. The "thick" PVC edging was 0.4mm thick. For comparison the B&Q range has edging varying from 0.2mm paper on the basic to 1mm PVC on the cooke and lewis range

The carcasses also didn’t have a service gap at the back. Normally the side panels of kitchen units protrude at the back behind the back panel. This is to allow them to be secured to the wall and for any gas/water pipes access. The carcasses supplied didn’t have this protrusion. They were simply less deep with the back panel being the absolute back. They were supplied with "packers" which were separate bits of panel to attach to the back of the carcass to provide the space to the wall. This meant that the cabinets are freestanding or if they are fitted and secured to the wall, held by a piece of chipboard panel around 10cm wide.

The wall units also didn’t have brackets or a service gap to attach to the wall. They are meant to be screwed directly to the wall. Without brackets to adjust the levelling, you have to make sure you screw in exactly level first time round.

Along with the standard units I had ordered only two units which were custom made. One was just a standard built in double oven larder unit and the other was a truly custom unit which was to house a built in dishwasher. Both were made incorrectly and had to be sent back. Once again I was promised delivery of the replacements within a day or two but then was actually confirmed for a week later.

Finally the end panel for a run of units was made of a completely different finish to the doors. While they claimed it was high gloss, the finish more closely matched the plain white interior carcasses than the gloss doors. Once again when I complained and asked for a proper replacement to match the doors, they simply said they didn’t do it and offered to return and refund the end panel and considered the matter resolved. I had to find an end panel directly from the manufacturers of the doors myself.

Ive tried to leave out my frustrations from this review but the sheer length of this complaint should give you an idea of my feelings. I didn’t have time to simply return the kitchen and start fresh, but if I did , I would recommend going to a local kitchen fitter or just buying ready cabinets from B&Q etc. The quality on the B&Q cooke and lewis range is better in every aspect (except the back is not 18mm as they kept reminding me), the price is similar and you’ll save a vast amount of time and headache.
