Miele - mediocre quality and slow customer service

Had Miele washing machine for about 2 years when its hose developed a leak. The hoses were replaced but now the washer would not intake any water for only god knows what reason (even a professional plumber couldn't solve the problem).

Ended up booking Miele technician's service (which wasn't easy as they don't have many slots open) only for them to cancel last minute. And the worst part is that the next available day for a reschedule is a week from now! A WEEK, Carl!

So we've been waiting for a technician to come for almost a week now, technician cancelled, and now we have to wait for another week with no ETA in sight on when our washer is going to be fixed.

Miele used to be a good brand...not anymore! You pay premium prices (about $4 - 5K for a washer/dryer unit) for mediocre quality as well as slow and pretty much non-existent customer service/support!!!

AWFUL SERVICE

Miele used to be top of the line for appliances, for both quality and durability, now it's nothing different from cheap brands but still with a very steep price tag.
Before COVID, their USA customer and tech services were pretty impeccable. Something obviously happened cause their call center was relocated to Costa Rica and to have a repair, with a reasonable turnaround, is completely impossible. My (adore) coffee system broke down on Oct 30, I called and they offered first appointment available on Nov 13th or that I could use their third party appointed supplier (Happy Home Appliance Repair) for Nov 5th as the earliest and Miele reassured that it would have been the same exact standards as a Miele technician. So I opted for Happy Home service, waited a week but then things went wrong when the guy showed up. He had no clue of the error code, he just had a small briefcase with a computer that connected to the coffee system but no other visible tool to access the unit. He was on the phone for quite some time and concluded that it was either the fuse or the water heater or both, which I had already found by myself online and told him when he first arrived. Then he said he needed to order the parts and that he would have come back but he asked for us to pull the unit out of the kitchen cabinet or that he would come with a colleague for an additional $250!!! I said it was totally unacceptable and that Miele technicians come fully equipped with proper tools, including an adjustable dolly that is place at correct cabinet height for the appliance to slide on and be put back in the cabinet.
So I had to tell the guy to leave, called back Miele and complained about the bad experience and now the earliest give is Nov 17th. Really bad service. A "reputable" company like Miele should offer a much higher standard. I tried to call their Germany headquarters but no way to get through their main phone menu as all in German. But I'm pretty sure that their standards in Europe or other markets is way better than what it's in the US in the recent past.

Warranty does not cover whats needed under my frying pan is covered!

I asked what a 10 year warranty covers on a propane cooktop and was told, "Everything that you cook on, all the cooking components." I was flabbergasted and asked for specifics due to the fact everything I cook on, is underneath my frying pan. One out of four burners work, and I was told they needed an igniter. The igniter is housed in the motherboard and it is not covered. I have to light my stove top with matches. If a motherboard that makes the cooktop function is not covered, what is?

I gave up on Miele

I gave up on Miele. I will never own another Miele product and I will urge my colleagues to do the same. I finally gave up on you guys and bought a dishwasher last weekend.
I took my almost $3000 Miele dishwasher, to the dump. I had to pay to get rid of it, and I was fine with it. I’ve waited nearly 10 months for service. I’ve missed two days of work in order to meet a technician from Miele on two different occasions, that canceled the day of the appointment last week I got a message from Miele telling me that even though it’s been 10 months and I have purchased the extended warranty, This service call wasn’t going to be covered.
I have no problem paying for a service call that’s not covered. No problem at all. But after owning a dishwasher for nearly a year that worked for two months, the last thing I needed to hear from Miele was how They weren’t going to go out of their way 1 inch to compensate me for 10 months of fumbles.
This was the worst customer service experience I recall having ever in an appliance purchase.
I will be posting this comment, everywhere I can. The headline will be:
I paid to take my new Miele dishwasher, to a landfill. And I’m glad I did.

Unsatisfactory Service

Our dishwasher is not even a year old. Service technician has been to our home twice, and we have been without a functioning dishwasher for over five weeks. Technician came on Friday with new pump and “fixed” the appliance. We tried to run a load and got the same error message and alarm as before. Called Miele, and they can’t get a technician to my home promptly.

I bought an expensive Miele built-in…

I bought an expensive Miele built-in refrigerator. Used it for 3 years and it started having problems one after another. Warranty expired. Cost of repair over two thousand dollars. Miele customer service only provides referral. No other service.
I also have a Miele steam oven and used it infrequently. Water accumulated under the tray like a small reservoir after a few usages.
Stay away from Miele.

No Support

I tried to set up an appointment with a Miele technician. Every time it is 2 weeks out and now they cancelled for the second time and refer me to a subcontractor. I am now without an oven for 6 weeks and still not able to get a technician from Miele.
Customer service is very polite but just sending me around without a solution. I would have expected way better service from a premium brand.

I bought a high end Miele dishwasher…

I bought a high end Miele dishwasher (Model G 7516 SCI) 2 years ago, and the appliance and service are garbage.

The circulation pump has failed twice in the past 2 years under normal use, and it's an $800 replacement. After calling to ask if they would cover it (outside the 1yr warrantee) given the last replacement is only 10 months old, they said no, the replacement is only covered for 90 days.

So a $2500 dishwasher, 2yrs old needed $1600 of service so far, with no explanation.

Besides that, the power to capacitative buttons is very low, meaning pressing power and start buttons each take 4-5 long presses to activate.

The service technician was also very bad. After providing details of the error code and description for what was wrong, and waiting a week for the repair, the Miele technician merely came out and tested it and said he would have to order a new part. It's a common part that was described in the original order, so it should have been on the truck for this appointment. He still charged $150 for the useless visit.

Horrible

Horrible. They hide behind emails rather than returning calls. Sold me a washer with a known software issue for dispensing bleach. Issue is at least 6 years old. All I asked was for an extension of the warranty. Called 3x , emailed 3x. They all have a stock answer as if reading from a script. I would not advise buying any Miele appliance because if something goes wrong they aren’t going to help.

Horrible customer service

Our Meile oven stopped working (no power) so we scheduled a Meile technician to come out and diagnose. He said it would need a new circuit board and that it would probably be about $1000 to fix. He suggested looking into buying a new oven since ours was out of warranty. He charged $270 for this service call. We looked around a bit but eventually decided to proceed with the repair. I called back Meile today to schedule the repair but was told by a nearly robotic representative that Meile would have to send out another technician to determine the parts needed, at a cost of $300 now since service calls went up. So it turns out that the original technician call was completely useless. Meile seemed completely unsympathetic. Needless to say we will not be repairing the oven and will steer clear of Meile appliances in the future.

The worst customer service ever!

The worst customer service ever. Ive never had to deal with a company like this in all of my years owning an appliances. I have not been able to use my built-in coffee system since October 2022 bc of backordered parts and technician incompetence. And there is no end in sight. The customer service reps are not even nice. If you want to speak to a supervisor it takes 72 hours for someone to call you back…if they do at all.

Poor response to appliance problems under warranty

My speed oven priced $3000+ and covered under warranty has malfunctioned. I scheduled a service visit with a technician. And then another visit when that didn't fix the problem. And then another visit. And then another visit today, 6 weeks since the first! So I tried to escalate, but no one higher up was available and I was told someone would call me back within 72 hours. It is extremely frustrating! There are many other high end appliance companies. Wouldn't any reputable company offer me a replacement by now?

Miele is no longer synonym with quality

I have always considered Miele to be a top of the line, quality company. Sadly given my most recent purchase, this is no longer the case. As a culinary teacher and food writer, I have recommended Miele appliances to many clients and friends over the years. My previous Miele dishwasher worked for 18 years without a single fail, and was only replaced for cosmetic reasons at the insistence of the architect in charge of design. I purchased a Miele dishwasher Model G 6665 SCVi SF as part of a kitchen remodel. The dishwasher was installed in November 2019. Almost from the start it frequently made a loud humming noise at the start of the cycle. The repairman diagnosed and replaced a bad solenoid. He told me this was a frequent problem with this model and that it might happen again. The problem recurred. I just lived with it. Then at the beginning of June the dishwasher stopped working altogether. The repairman diagnosed and replaced a failed intake pump. Then he discovered that there was another problem, a shorted out control panel at the connection with the wiring harness. Both parts need to be replaced. Total cost of repair, $1,381.45. I had purchased a 5 year service contract. The warranty company elected to send me a check for the original purchase price of the unit rather than keep the contract, which reflects their lack of confidence in the quality of the appliance. This would be bad enough, but now almost 2 months after the initial failure, I am told that the wiring harness is not available, which leaves me without a working dishwasher for the foreseeable future. Leaving a dishwasher unused is not good for the appliance and may then cause further issues. The repairman has tried unsuccessfully to obtain an ETA on the missing part. I called Miele's customer service line this morning. The representative had no information. I asked her to escalate. No supervisor was available. She told me I "should" get a call back within 72 business hours. I am not sure how many days that might be, is it 3 or 9? In any case, this is the level of customer care I would expect from a bottom shelf discount brand, not from a company that touts itself as a premium line.

I called both Miele and Canadian Tire…

I called both Miele and Canadian Tire and because my purchase date is beyond 3 month there is no compensation for this product.

1) The head of the vacuum is too high to fit under my couches and any hair wraps around the motor head.

2) to remove the motor head you must manually unclip the base whereas a product such as Kenmore has a foot release. I have had a back injury so this is an important feature.

3) The power switch is not on the wand but on the canister so if you are doing stairs it is much nicer to have that control at your fingertips.
4) It is a very expensive vacuum, 849.00 cd on sale!
I fell the Kenmore is superior in so many ways. I am not affiliated with Kenmore but have used their products for years and am regretful that I purchased the Miele!
5) The vacuum bags are extremely expensive.
if anyone would like to purchase this vacuum from me for 650.00 I ewill even throw in the bags for free.

We have about $20K worth of appliances…

I have since writing this review been in touch with Miele corporate. They have listened patiently to my issues and have provided a satisfactory solution. I still believe in this brand, and just hope that they can improve their process when it comes to assisting clients with products that do not function as they should. Outsourcing services is not always bad, and often a way for cost containment for product pricing not to go up. It is however highly recommendable, not to use outsourced services that do not even remotely come close to addressing client issues. No matter of how well a product is constructed, something can break - and as appliances are an integral part of our lives, most of us heavily rely on them. I have changed the rating of my review as well upwards as Miele did finally engage - hoping that in the future You guys can score full 5 stars with better service.

We have about $20K worth of appliances and vacuums from Miele. For most parts they work great.
Bought a robot vacuum from them - never worked properly as I could not program it for the perimeter in the house. Early on we were in contact tech support about getting this issue addressed. No results - no clue on how to fix them as not many people shell out $600 for this robot (robot vacuum is re-branded from a company in South Korea). At the time we at least had a technical support team from within the country though. This changed in 2022 - worst call center from abroad, poor language skills no resolution. We requested support multiple times - no results. We brought it to a Miele shop locally and they worked with a Miele tech, and were told that the warranty is voided as the vacuum fell down two steps. 1. this should not have happened as the unit is suppose to stop when approaching a height difference, and 2. Miele was never able to support this product locally or via help online. Now am being told that Miele is voiding the warranty due to the fall. Unbelievable. First they provide a products that does not work, than the support line cannot get it fixed, than the vacuum mis-functions due to not being programmed right to than be told that this voided the warranty. Hoping that someone at Miele reads this. This is not the right way to deal with a client that has purchased $20K Plus.

Worst service ever.

Prior time (a few years ago) Miele came to repair dishwasher, dishwasher worked, but they left it with a leak. Had to come back to fix leak. This time, I had an appointment confirmed at 7AM by their email for 9:45-11:45. I called @ 8:15 with a question, was told that appointment was rescheduled for one week later. All rep "Ariena" would say was that supervisor would call back within 72 hours. It took 1/2 hour of refusing to hang up before she gave me a dispatch phone number. Dispatcher told me no one else is available (in all of New York City!) In the prior week, I learned that supervisor's don't call back, they simply email and say that the 800 number will take care of things. This is the worst service team I have ever encountered. If you have to buy a new dishwasher, IMO go to another company.

Product Miele T1 Stackable Washer/Dryer…

Product Miele T1 Stackable Washer/Dryer are very complicated to learn to use. Store selling items have no idea how to operate. After 4 intelligent adults went over a 79 page manual, we called for help. No help available, I ordered repair person @ $125 per hour. Waited 8 days for appointment. The dryer which is what we could not get to work, was NOT the problem. The washing machine needed something in order for dryer to detect correct setting. Yhe washer has a $50 cost to refill their own laundry detergent. Then, in order to receive a copy of paid invoice or receipt for payment via text connection was a nightmare. HORRIBLE customer service. Purchase a different brand W/D that is not complicated. Waste of $6K
