I did an online IQ test and paid $1 to get results, they then charged me $39.99 a week later and would be doing every month if I hadn't cancelled future payments.I knew nothing about this and you don't receive anything for it.A big scam, avoid.

I emailed the following to Mindcrate…

I emailed the following to Mindcrate after they refused to refund my payment:
“I have not used any services other than the $.99 IQ test. That test indicated I had a low IQ, which is ridiculous. My previous IQ tests (administered by actual professionals) scored me at 128 - 132. While it’s not “genius”, it’s certainly not “low”.

I was not aware that I was being signed up for continued monthly payments, and have not requested - nor have you provided - any further services.

Again, please refund the payment you received in August.”

Then I received their 2nd refusal. I have had to close the account # on my bank account and get a new card card.
My bank has opened a fraud case.

These people are scammers!

These people are scammers!! A family member mistakenly opened their link for an emotional type test (without my knowledge; I’m in the hospital!!) & wasn’t aware of this creating a subscription.
I contacted their customer service & explained the situation & requested a refund. They were absolutely cold & unforgiving. Gave a bunch of legal mumbo gumbo which I explained does not (should not) apply to a minor (my family member). They are nothing but a scam for a ridiculous “service”.
Don’t waste your time & please educate your kids & anyone you care about to avoid this site like the plague!!!

Don't waste your time!
Clicked a link to the IQ test. It is a series of multiple choice type questions. Question 14 had two answers the same, both of which were the correct answer. Question 15 had no correct answer available at all. Tried to bring this to their attention but the AI assistant didn't fulfill its job description. Not a great showing really, is it. Won't be going back there again.

Modern day thieves at their finest

Modern day thieves at their finest. $1, and then they hook you in for what cost me $70NZD the exchange rate on $39.99. In simple terms Don't pay the dollar. The terms and conditions are laughable and barely there, there is no heads up the day before to make sure you want to continue and if you are like me they don't even provide you the information you paid for. I wouldn't recommend them, I would encourage anyone to just close down the link and avoid avoid avoid.

MindCrate “Free” IQ Test

MindCrate “Free” IQ Test – Parents Beware

On 31 July 2025, my 15-year-old daughter visited the MindCrate website after seeing it advertised as offering a free IQ test. She completed the test and was then prompted to “see her results.” At that stage, she was asked to enter her bank card details — still under the impression this was part of the free service.

Without any clear warning or confirmation of a paid subscription, £31 GBP was charged instantly. My daughter is 15 years old, and MindCrate’s own terms clearly state that users must be 18 or have parental consent. She had neither.

When I contacted them, they refused a refund, claiming the “digital content” was delivered instantly. Their responses were dismissive, overly legalistic, and included irrelevant statements — even falsely claiming I said I was a lawyer, which I never did.

Under UK consumer law, contracts with minors without parental consent are generally unenforceable, and advertising something as free when it results in an immediate charge can breach the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

I have reported MindCrate to TSB bank ,Trading Standards and Action Fraud. Parents — please be aware: this “free” IQ test is not free, and the company will not act in good faith if your child is caught by it.
