On time, efficient and helpful!

Daniel and Stan arrived promptly, had already received a text regarding their ETA.
Very nice guys, friendly and approachable - not to be underestimated, when you know zero about electrics!
Put together and replaced old light fittings across the house. Sorted out and fitted new smoke alarms and replaced a kaput extractor fan. Very, very pleased with the work and Daniel and Stan too - thank you!!

Needs to do better

Keep changing the date for our work to be done, no contact when the electrician decides to not turn up for the day citing sickness, and now we have to wait until the new year with no heating, poor communication and not good enough

Poor Service

We requested MJP to carry out and Electrical Inspection Condition Report (EICR) on our property. On the morning of the arranged date they cancelled and rearranged the appointment without agreeing with us first.

When the inspection finally took place, whilst previously the findings were classed as C3, MJP classed them as C2 (unsatisfactory). This was inconsistent with other electrical contractors and a previous inspection they had carried out for us. The most concerning for us was they reported there was no bonding to the gas supply in our property although the photograph they provided to evidence was of a neighbours gas meter.
They then provided a quote of over £1300 to carry out unnecessary works including bonding our electricity supply to the neighbours gas pipework. This clearly was not correct. For clarity, the correct bonding within our property exists and was not checked.

Due to MJP cancelling the initial appointment, the EICR was carried out within 2 days of the existing EICR expiring. Despite them being the cause of the late inspection, they wanted to charge an extra £136.80 in order to get the works completed over a weekend. They did not inform that we had 28 days to rectify but gave an unnecessary impression of urgency.

We contacted MJP via email and were promised the matter would be referred to senior management for comment. To date we have not received any further update, however we have received a total of 18 emails or text messages in the space of a week reminding us and encouraging us to take up their recommended works.

On receiving the invoice for which we had to pay upfront it would appear we have been charged for the installation of 3 sockets.

All works appear to have to be paid in full before they will carry out any work which differs fromother electrical contractors where you pay once the job is completed. From this and previous jobs, they have a tendency to always come up with a list of ‘recommendations’ that need attention and then persistently contact you to accept the additional costs.

This company feels more like an ‘Electrical Sales Company’ rather than an Electrical Contractor. Having spoken to the electrician who carried out the report, it is clear there is no standardization across the company for works and it feels as if it is based on what the company can get away with ‘upselling’ to customers.
We have used them previously and whilst jobs have had minor issues we cannot overlook the poor service on this occasion and their lack of willingness resolve means I would not recommend using them.

Very disappointed with MJP Electricals

Very disappointed with MJP Electricals. Woke up to no electricity. Waited in all day until 15:40 for the electrician to arrive. Paid £205 in advance to MJP. Electrician was at my address for one hour, rushing around my house to find the fault. After one hour, he told me he was only paid to be at my property for 45 minutes and had worked overtime! He was unable to find the fault and left me with only two double sockets working ‘one double upstairs and one down stairs’ in the whole house. I then had to go out to buy extension leads to keep my fish alive and make sure I could get my boiler working. Also informed me that my whole house ‘would probably need re-wiring’. I was left feeling very distressed and worried.
Had to pay a private electrician the very next morning, who calmly came and found the fault within an hour thankfully ‘fault was in my kitchen wire. I certainly do not need my whole house re-wired!
I have asked MJP for a financial refund as the fault was not found and I paid a lot of money for nothing! However, they have refused to give me any money back.
I will be reporting this company to trading standards.

Reply from MJP ELECTRICAL

Hi Julia,

We’re very sorry to hear you felt let down by your recent experience with us. Having no power is always stressful, and we understand your frustration.

Our engineer did spend extra time on site fault-finding and was able to restore power to several sockets, ensuring essentials such as your boiler and fish tank were running safely before leaving. The advice about your wiring was intended as a precaution, not to suggest unnecessary work.

We appreciate this was not the outcome you hoped for, and while we cannot offer a full refund as professional time and work were carried out, we are happy to discuss a goodwill gesture with you directly. Please contact us at email so we can resolve this for you.

Kind regards,
Mark

Inflated prices, aggressive chasing of invoice

Work carried out was satisfactory apart from not providing the quote I had asked for, and which was part of the £200 for 2 hours work. I did receive a quote for replacing consumer unit, which I had not asked for, and at £1400 seems to be nearly half as much again as it should be. They have aggressively chased invoice (despite not having sent the quote). Invoice did not itemise the materials used.

Would highly recommend MJP Electrical

MJP electrical have been excellent every time I've used them. They respond quickly, are upfront about costs and timeframes, are tidy in their work and I trust that they know what they are doing. They always make us feel safe and explain to us what is going on as they work. I would highly recommend this company.

MJP: Trustworthy and Reliable

Fantastic service and Matthew was incredibly helpful and informative. We were very concerned about costs, safety and work needed but Matthew was very reassuring and professional throughout.

We are due further work and will be speaking with MJP Electrical before any others!

Highly recommended. 5⭐️

Superb Service

Mike from MJP Electrical restored power to my garden shed by replacing the existing cable which had been damaged with an armoured cable routed from house to shed via quite a tricky route. He notified his arrival, turned up on time and did a thoroughly professional job. He was friendly and polite and left no rubbish on site.

Stubbing a toe is more satisfying than MJP service

guy said he was nipping to his van to get some expanding foam, an hour later turns up and spends two more minutes 'fixing' my socket. I then get a bill for more than £50. The request I put my complaint in writing which I do.

Over a month later I hear nothing and email them again and in a wildly irritating email exchange they ask me to summarise my complaint and invoice again. Do they not have this in writing already?

Nice enough engineer but wow are they milking this. Oh and the foam was a temporary fix and not an actually a solution.

So…… Not. Impressed

So, yesterday morning I called as a socket ring was not working. No kitchen sockets tv or Wi-Fi.
I was shocked at the 162 ph for the first hour call-out charge.
Two electricians arrived I think one was training. They were polite and thoroughly investigated. However they said it wasn’t.t permanent…..their repair lasted for an hour after they left!
I have phoned the company who have NOT been back in touch…….
A total waste of money for a single retired woman on benefits.

Subject: Seeking Clarity on Communication Issues

Hi Angela,

I hope this message finds you well. We wanted to reach out to clarify the situation regarding your service. Our records indicate that a temporary fix was provided, and a permanent solution was quoted.

It's come to our attention that another electrical company mentioned you had contacted them, which was the first we heard of it. We attempted to call you to discuss this matter and hopefully resolve any misunderstandings, but unfortunately, the call ended abruptly on your part.

We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Mark
