Sometimes it's good but
Sometimes it's good, but...
Too many glitches, all the good games are blacked out, and if you follow an out-of-market team with national recognition, there's far too many national blackouts to make it worthwhile. Disgusting waste unless you have nothing else going on summer nights.
Unethical Company
Bad Company
Called MLB TV and asked which package i should buy to avoid Padre black outs. They sold me the biggest package at $129. EVERY game has been blacked out and when I asked them to cancel and refund so I could buy ther smaller package to watch just Padre games, they refused. Said I should have read small print but I was free to purchase the additional package.
Bad company, less than honest and when I asked them to forgo the refund and just change my subscription they also said NO! Horrible Service, and no one calls back even though they said they would.
We were told that a refund would be given twice but then declined twice. They want you to spend more money without resolution of the original problem.
Non local blackouts
I have been blacked out on the same 2 channels all week. The channels correspond to games 7 and 8 on the Extra Innings schedule. None of the games blacked out involved my in market teams. (The in market teams games are also blacked out.) I've called MLB 3 nights in a row and they have not fixed the issue. This 3rd night they are now blaming my cable provider. Obviously, the cable company has no control over the content being transmitted by MLB, not to mention that the blackout notice is coming in quite clearly on these 2 channels. My guess is that my local market teams were on these channels sometime back and MLB has a glitch in their system that did not remove the blackout on these channels the next day. The problem is that MLB is denying the issue exists or is blaming cable; so I will spend the rest of the season not able to view games 7 and 8 regardless of who is playing on those channels. I have been a customer of MLB for double digit years and am surprised by their complete lack of caring for the devoted fan who is clearly getting screwed by this tech issue and their refusal to correct it. If you're thinking of buying any of their packages, think twice or plan on spending hours on the phone with someone from India or Pakistan who has been given no tools with which to help you.
Game Disruption, poor commentary.
Games keep getting disrupted from coming back from commercial breaks late. This had been a sporadic problem in the past, and is getting worse. Additionally, you PAY for this app, and have this happen is disappointing.
BTW, the commentary could be a little less personal. I know that there needs to be filler, but honestly, got really tired of hearing what a great time Tom McCarthy is going to have in London, while the rest of us have to work, or can't afford the luxury of flying to London. Kruk also gets way too personal, which is ashame, since he knows the game well, and could do a good job but chooses not to.
After many, many seasons of watching MLB, and being a loyal Phillies fan, I'm thinking this just isn't worth it, and getting my Phillies fix elsewhere (unfortunately, I don't live in Philadelphia).
Hands down the worst app on my TV
Hands down the worst app on my TV. I love baseball and follow two teams closely, and not a day — or game — goes by that this app doesn’t freeze, usually more then once. It is then impossible to get out of unless I literally unplug my television, wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and restart the app. I am thrilled when one of my teams is on literally any other streaming service (Apple TV), Fox, or ESPN. They rarely if ever have this problem.
For me I have several issues
For me I have several issues. The app does not play nice with airplay from an iPhone and will cut out at random times during the games. Not just cut out on the Smart TV but an entire overhaul on the app as well. You cannot skip commercials even on archived or delayed games. On the browser the game will be live, delayed, or archived and just randomly start from the beginning. Even if you are not in the blackout broadcasting area it will blackout games. At the end of a local commercial break watching live, to fill dead space they will play their own add that then plays over the game. I sometimes miss an entire at bat because of this. Just absolutely terrible.
MLBTV Needs To Keep It Real
This is my second season with this service, and what a drop off it is from last year! Gone is the true freedom of choosing which feed to watch (between home and away). Because MLBTV now inserts horrendous (and easy to spot) CGI ads on away feeds, it's as if the service is trying to force people to "always watch the home team" and not the teams they actually want to see!
I follow multiple teams (in addition to my main), and these fake ads do rob you of the full experience of watching your teams play. Don't know why MLB is screwing over their fans and actually devaluing their own package with these garbage overlays. Just let the real ads run!
I like that you do get to watch games on archives, but the fake stuff really needs to go.
I paid $149 for MLB extra innings, not getting value
I paid $149 for MLB extra innings. I am a Red Sox fan who lives in Delaware. All the games against the Orioles, Nationals and Phillies are blacked out. MASN, who provides Orioles and Nationals games charges for their services, when they were free last year. That means I miss over 20 games a year. Also, MLB extra innings puts games on other networks when they feel like it, which would also cost me extra. They are a monopoly that charges full price and refuses to offer adequate services. At the very least, they should stop making subscribers pay to watch non blackout games on other stations and making them pay more money. They do not provide adequate service for the money and should not be allowed to farm out non blackout games to services like apple plus TV.

About all orioles games are blocked…
About all orioles games are blocked now. I read that my area only bucs games are blocked and I'm ok with that. But I'm an orioles fan that lives an hour and a half away from Baltimore w t f
The game itself is mostly fine but
The game itself is fine, most of the time (though it’s annoying when they arbitrarily cut out the 7th inning stretch), but the same ads and highlights (there must be more available than the same 6 players) every day is very tiresome!
CGI ads make games impossible to watch
Obviously fake CGI ads on the pitcher's mound and behind home plate are distracting, ruin the aesthetics of the game, and make it impossible to watch. Cancelling my subscription because of them.
Absolutely garbage
Absolutely garbage. Amazing that the NFL and everyone else can get a subscription based product to work but MLB TV is crap!
This is the worst app I have ever used
This is the worst app I have ever used. I purchased a subscription for 3 years. This year, because of all the issues I had in the past, I decided not to be a glutton for punishment. I had enough when I was “blacked out” from a game that was 4000 miles away from me. (I live in Alaska, game was in New York.) On top of that, it was the “free game of the day.” My kids and I still couldn’t watch it. Enough is enough. MLB can keep on torpedoing its fanbase. These baseball fans will stick with radio.
I cannot be the ONLY person who paid…
I cannot be the ONLY person who paid for MLB TV and is trying to watch games on my Samsung smart tv. Lately, since our free trial ended and we now PAY to watch all cubs games for $129.99 per year, we are getting a ridiculous BLURRY broadcast, whenever someone on the screen is moving !! It is THE most frustrating thing ever!! I’m currently watching the game on my phone, which I should not have to. Yesterday I called MLB, and the guy had NO idea how to help…tried to say I need to adjust my Samsung picture - no, it’s an issue with the Marquee BROADCAST, NOT my TV. So glad I pay for this - apparently MLB stands for Major League Blurryness 🙄🙄🙄
** WARNING ** WARNING ** WARNING **
Be careful, very unethical & untrustworthy. I signed up for a 7-day free trial. On the morning of day 7, I went online and canceled, then I called to confirm the cancellation, and ffinally, I emailed them to cancel. I went to the extreme but something about it didn’t seem right. So since I had never actually had an active subscription, I figured that was the end of it but thought I should confirm they had not charged my credit car.
I went online and found they had charged my credit card $149.99 instantly after I had canceled the first time online. I called customer service and was told I would receive a refund within 3-5 days. I called each successive day requesting the refund since I had never had the subscription. Each time they told me the same thing, 3-5 days.
On day 6, they still had not refunded the money so I called my credit card company who then disputed the charge on my behalf since they charged me for something I had never received. I was told that my credit card company would reimburse me and would go toe-to-toe with MLB.TV to get reimbursed.
Finally, on day 8 after charging me for something I never received and refusing to refund me, my credit card company advised me they had been successful in retracting the illegally charged funds.
BEWARE - BEWARE - BEWARE
You can't watch baseball on the baseball app
You can't watch home games, you can't watch away games.....you can't watch baseball on the baseball app.
The all-time worst streaming service
The worst service of all the channels I stream. I use a Roku box and Verizon fios, and am popped out of the game and returned to the Mlb.tv homepage 3 or 4 times per game. I’m returned to the Roku homepage once or twice per game. Human Customer service is nonexistent, but robotic responses will ask you to submit the same information you’ve already provided, and then close your case. Too bad there’s no alternative - they’d be out of business overnight.
The audio is NEVER in sync!
The audio is NEVER in sync with the video. And it isn’t close, sometimes it’s 4-5 seconds off. And about ever third game I watch or so, it just drops midway through. Also, don’t try and pause for more than a minute or so. The coverage will just drop and restart. For such an expensive app/service and one that has been around for a long time, you would think they would have fixed it by now. It’s terrible.
So tired of this blackout bull****!!!
Over-priced, Greedy Business Practice
First and foremost, the exorbitant price tag of $149/yr left me with high expectations, it was frustrating to find out that aside from the blacked out games, now, I'm also unable to access certain games, arbitrarily confined to the confines of Apple TV exclusivity. This lack of accessibility not only feels discriminatory but also undermines the inclusivity that should be inherent in a streaming service of this caliber.
And then, there's a barrage of ads shown, not just during breaks but also while the play is ongoing splitting the TV screen in half to show the ads. Just letting these advertisers know that we are NOT supporting the products that interrupt our enjoyment of watching the games of our favorite teams.
