Please Avoid at all costs, £15+ fee just to withdraw your own bitcoin and thats only if you have more than £50 worth in your wallet!

I hate to say it but stick to coinbase! Coinbase doesnt charge you to withdraw your BTC.

I work in tech and have multiple crypto wallets. I loved the idea of Mode and the cashback in BTC and low fees to buy/sell, but in reality, the app is still in need of serious development work. It is not a smooth process to buy/sell/send/receive BTC. When you ask the chat to help you get things done, it is a tedious process, they tell you to do it yourself, but if the app is not correctly functioning, I can't do it, so I get stuck in an endless circle trying to do anything to get things done.

For context, I had a small balance of BTC in my account (just under 50 GBP). The cost to send the bitcoin to another wallet was almost 20 GBP, and I couldn't sell it as it was under 50 GBP. The app doesn't explain each error properly, so you have to go back and forth with chat. Fee to sell my BTC was not bad, but the number of steps I had to take to get this done was unnecessary.

Initially, I used the app and found it to be glitchy and not particularly intuitive. However, I persisted until Mode froze my account and suspended all withdrawals, and asked me to provide bank statements, proof of income and the like. When I queried this, I discovered this is not to do with regulatory requirements, but do with checks Mode ‘runs on every customer’. So, just know that Mode can freeze your account and hold your funds, without a stated reason, and you will need to provide considerable personal, potentially sensitive financial information to unfreeze it. So, if you want more freedom, personal sovereignty and control over your money, Mode does not facilitate this. My advice: AVOID!

Mode is a great UK based app. There are countless other mobile apps out there which allow you to buy Bitcoin. However, Mode is one of the most simplest and easiest to use.

It is also FCA regulated so I feel confident in using them. But, the best feature (so far) is being able to earn INSTANT bitcoin cashback at sites like Zavvi.com and Myprotein.com with more merchants being added in the future.

The fees for buying and selling BTC is currently 0.99% which is decent. Depositing BTC or sterling is free which is amazing. I would like to see Mode make a few changes if possible:

1) Drop the minimum amount of buying bitcoin from £50 to £1.

2) Remove the BTC withdrawal fees (currently 0.0005 BTC)

3) And a feature to be able to pound cost average (i.e. automate recurring buys of bitcoin).

Overall it's a great app. Customer support has also been really good whenever I have had an issue.

I have been locked out of my account now for over a week. I have supplied the requisite selfie with ID and I am just ignored, each day I ask on the support chat for someone to do something. This app will cost you money as they are taking away the opportunity to trade, my portfolio has gone down whilst I have not been able to take action

This is a total SCAM. Please don’t use it. I wanted to withdraw GBP from Binance. Since you can’t do it easily there anymore, I thought I could do it with Mode app. So for those who don’t know, you will lose £21 straight away. That’s their fee for crypto wallet to crypto wallet transfer.

It’s much cheaper to withdraw Fiat money from Binance though SWIFT. Their fee is at least £11 ($15) but not £21.

Then the app crashes all the time and you have to close/open the app constantly. You can’t sell Bitcoin if you have less than £50 and you can’t withdraw if you have less than £50.

You verify your account in the first place with your ID document and a selfie. And the most ridiculous part, if you want to close/delete you account they will ask you to send a selfie with you ID card. And after they retain your data for 5 years.

If you want to use a crypto wallet it’s better to use ZenGo. The fees are lower and the app is well built with all the options available including Withdrawal to your debit card/bank account.

It was a very negative experience and I spent too much time figuring out how to withdraw the money and lost £25 for nothing.

If you have a sum big enough, say, above £1500, they can freeze your funds for no reason and won’t be able to get it back. They will explain it to you as « for security purposes ».

Stay away from this company and be cautious. Read carefully the reviews on AppStore/PlayMarket, a lot of people complain.

I downloaded Mode recently and I really like the app. It was very easy to register and the app is simple and slick. Really easy for someone who is not a crypto expert, like me, to get into Bitcoin. I love how I was able to shop at MyProtein and get free Bitcoin instantly with my purchase! Top marks! Well done Mode team!
