After forty years as a neurosurgeon

After forty years as a neurosurgeon, retirement brought calm but also a desire to stay engaged with new technologies. I joined a private investment group where a strategist pitched a platform offering "guaranteed 20% APY" through automated market-making on ETH, USDC, and WBTC pools. I deposited 12 ETH ($45,000), and after two months of weekly payouts, my balance grew to 13.6 ETH, prompting me to convince my brother to join, pooling our resources to add 25 ETH and 10 BTC, bringing our total stake to approximately $450,000.

Our portfolio surged to over $850,000, but when I tried to withdraw $500,000, I was hit with a $120,000 "withdrawal activation fee" and $35,000 for "stablecoin conversion." I paid both, but the funds never arrived, and the platform went dark, leaving us with nothing.

I contacted a [BASSE POINTE ADVISORY}, a firm that specialized in tracing stolen crypto. They worked patiently, following the digital trail and coordinating with the right people, and in the end, they managed to recover our entire original deposit. We got back everything we had put in, and the only thing we lost was the fake profits that were never real to begin with. That experience taught me a simple but painful lesson: if someone promises you guaranteed returns in crypto, walk away immediately, no matter how convincing they sound.
