Retroactive D-Ticket Refund Nightmare
I bought a D-ticket on the 30th of September and they gave me no option of when to start the actual ticket. I immediately contacted support asking were they charging me for a Sept ticket instead of an Oct ticket and would they charge me again on the 1st. They charged me on the 1st for another D-ticket and then replied to my email on the 2nd stating they could not refund either ticket. I had already had a D-Ticket for Sept and just paid all my Oct expenses on the day I was paid which was Sept 30th. If I paid rent, a phone bill, anything at the end of the month it would be considered for the 1st of the next month not retroactive. There is no option of choosing when the ticket is active so it is assumed to work like any other payment. Mopla is trying to say I paid for a retroactive Sept 1-30 ticket. Problem is I had a D-Ticket and was being proactive. You cannot have two D-tickets. I have contacted them repeatedly and their bot continues to state statues about them selling the D-Ticket under various stipulations that do not apply to them NOT refunding and CHARGING me less than 24 hours later for another ticket that in lieu of a refund could have been waived, credited whatever was possible and fair. I replied again with the stipulation of not having two tickets at the same time and they ignored this email for over two weeks. It's now the 20th and they just responded with the exact same verbiage of not being allowed to refund me. The phone number doesn't work for D-tickets - well it doesn't work for ANYTHING! It has a message saying support is only via their info form which is a bot. Naturally, I have cancelled the Oct ticket on the 9th but I basically given them an additional 63€ in Sept for nothing. I paid 126€ for a ticket I could have only used for hours and now this cancelled Oct ticket has me in fear. All of these bad reviews regardless of cancellations prove they may charge me for nothing again. This company is robbing people and Deutschebahn is complicit because they know not everyone has access to German konto to use their app to get the ticket. DB's resident inclusive monopoly over ticketing forces people to get scammed by third party apps whose default excuse is DB said ... How much is DB getting paid from Mopla being a thief?
Do not trust this app
Do not trust this app! They are robbing people blind! I cancelled my ticket and still getting charged months later unknowingly and I can’t seem to reach anyone from the company. This is causing me so much stress and I might have to take legal action as they are just robbing me blind now.
Complex cancellation - beware tourists!
I bought the DB ticket for a month on 13th September and cancelled the automatic renewal right after. As a tourist, the policy of cancellation before the 10th of the current month was VERY UNCLEAR. I was in Germany ONLY FOR A WEEK. I raised multiple support tickets and regardless of that, I am getting emails about legal action to pay 63 Euros for October, even though I am back in India? Why is the cancellation so complex? And why does the UI interface not have clear disclaimers about these policies??!
For everyone having problem with Mopla file a complain to universalschlichtungsstelle
I had a terrible experience with Vetter GmbH through the Mopla platform. What seemed like a straightforward service quickly turned into a headache due to misleading user interface design and hidden subscription traps (classic dark patterns). When I discovered unexpected recurring charges, I attempted to reach out to customer support, only to be trapped in an endless loop of unhelpful automated replies. There is zero actual customer service available to resolve real issues. Reading through other reviews, it’s clear this is a systemic pattern affecting countless users rather than an isolated mistake. Companies shouldn't be allowed to operate with such opaque practices. I am submitting formal documentation to consumer protection agencies (Verbraucherschutz) and encourage anyone else affected to report their experience as well.
Never use this app
Never use this app. This is a Trap. They won’t cancel your subscription even if you want. They keep charging you and there is no way in app to stop this or remove your payment method.
Be Careful - they keep charging after you've cancelled!
I thought this app was fine when I was in Germany in March and April but I was very careful to cancel it before I left before the 10th of the month BACK THEN. However I’ve just discovered today, what is it - more than six months later that they’ve been charging me $106 per month, while I’m back in Australia and I haven’t used their services since March.
I intend to fight to get this money back, but I would advise anybody looking at this app to be very, very careful with this company after you finish your travel.
Mopla is not a trust worthy platform…
Mopla is not a trustworthy platform. I paid for a ticket that didn’t work, so I cancelled and booked elsewhere.
I send several mails, no reply besides the debt collection Dunning payment and a mail from the screen company behind mopla Vetter Gmbh, I received a debt-collection notice claiming the ticket was invalid. I didn't singed any agreement to Vetter Gmbh? Why this?
Their cancellation policy is unclear, and customers should not be penalized for cancelling an unusable ticket.
Mopla also challenged my Trustpilot review and asked for additional documentation. If you have had similar problems, to all having problem with this company consider filing a complaint with the Universalschlichtungsstelle des Bundes. This should not happen
Legalized scam! Bought on Aug 12th, forced to pay for 2 full months.
This company is running nothing short of a legalized scam. In all my life, I have never witnessed such an anti-consumer, deceptive trap.
We purchased our subscriptions on August 12th for a short trip. Because of their absurd rules, we were forced to pay for TWO full months upfront. How can a customer be required to cancel a subscription by August 10th when it wasn't even purchased until August 12th?
Instead of addressing this obvious design flaw, they ignored our support emails for weeks until the next billing cycle rolled over, deducted money from our card, and then told us in writing that nothing could be done.
They are shamelessly taking advantage of international visitors and hiding behind bureaucratic fine print to extract unearned revenue. Zero customer service, zero ethics, and a completely broken model designed to trap people. Stay far away from mopla.
A predatory tourist trap: Buy on the 12th, required to cancel by the 10th! Zero customer service.
If you are visiting Germany as a tourist, stay as far away from mo.pla as possible. Their subscription model is nothing short of a deceptive money grab designed to trap travelers.
We purchased Deutschlandtickets on August 12, 2026, for a short holiday. We immediately contacted support to make sure our passes would not auto-renew, as we were foreign tourists permanently departing Germany on August 19.
What happened next was an absolute disgrace:
1. Support ghosted us for nearly an entire month. They completely ignored multiple emails until September rolled around and they could automatically deduct another €63 per ticket from our card.
2. When they finally replied, they sent an arrogant, cold template stating that cancellations must be made by the 10th of the month. Think about the sheer absurdity: They sold us a ticket on August 12th, and claimed we were required to cancel it by August 10th—two days before we even bought it!
3. They literally admitted in writing that if you buy after the 10th, you are systemically trapped into paying for two full months, adding: "We would ask you to refrain from making any further enquiries."
This is not modern German efficiency; it is an anti-tourist scam disguised as digital ticketing. Their customer service is an absolute zero, completely unhelpful, and hides behind rigid bureaucracy to extract money from people who aren't even in the country anymore.
Save yourself the headache, avoid this platform
A COMPLETE SCAM! A subscription trap that steals your money!
One star is way too much for this trash app. They completely changed their terms without proper notice, killing the only reason people used them: the last-minute cancellation. Now they force you to pay for an extra month if you miss the 10th-of-the-month deadline, completely blindsiding long-term users without sending a single clear email notification about the update. To make matters worse, their customer support is completely non-existent! I sent them an email 7 days ago and they are completely ignoring me while automated payments drain my account. This is a textbook subscription trap (Abofalle), designed to legally rob customers who don't need their ticket anymore.Avoid MoPla at all costs unless you want your money stolen and your support tickets completely ignored. Absolute garbage service!
This company is an absolute scam.
This company is an absolute scam.
I cancelled my Deutschlandticket. The automatic payment failed. I paid the 63 € myself manually. And what did they do? They took my money and automatically extended the subscription for another full month without asking me.
I don’t live in Germany. I was in France the whole time. I couldn’t use the ticket in September and I don’t need it in October either. They still forced the extension.
Their cancellation rule (“must cancel by the 10th”) is deliberately hidden and designed to catch people. Once they receive money, they simply reactivate the subscription and ignore everything you write.
Customer support is non-existent. No phone. Only automated useless replies or complete silence. They redirect you in circles between Vetter and Mopla while keeping your money and the unwanted subscription active.
This is not a service. This is a trap. They profit from people who miss their shady deadline or who are foreigners and don’t know the rules.
I already paid for a month I couldn’t use. Now they’re trying to force me to pay for another one I don’t want.
Disgusting company. Do not give them your money or your card details under any circumstances.
Their evil details of cancellation…
Their evil details of cancellation forced users to pay for 1 month more even after cancellation.
Zero reply to cancel renewal of my Germany…
Stopped the renewal of my Germany ticket. Then ended up getting a confusing email and clicked the button a few times. I also contacted them to ask for help ensuring I am not charged.
After I was later charged for the subscription again I emailed them and had no reply from either the first or second contact.
I am struggling to get a refund. I
Confusing App, Poor Customer Support
All I wanted to do was buy a Deutshland ticket for October in advance. There was no way to select a future month, so I thought I could buy it and then cancel it with a resubscription set up for October. I didn't understand the app and got charged for August, which I didn't contest. Now I'm being charged for September after sending two emails saying I needed help and won't be in Germany until October. This app is so incredibly confusing and it feels intentional.
Deutschlandticket Subscription Scam
Deutschlandticket purchase is actually recurring and if you dont cancel within 3 days of buying it automatically also signs you up for the upcoming month. This was NOT listed beforehand and is textbook subscription scam. Cancelling weeks before the next month is apparently „too late“
63€ burned… Avoid this seller and buy it elsewhere
Scam payment system
I was charged again for another deutschanld ticket after I recived a confirmation email that i had cancelled the ticket.
I explained the situation to customer service and they did not acknowledge or explain anything at all along with proof of cancellation.
Apparently if you cancel your ticket it doesn't cancel fully for some reason. Use another ticket system to purchase your tickets where it allows you to fully cancel your ticket to not be charged again.
It only allows you to pause your ticket which is apparently a cancellation and it reactivate itself the next month. It is very difficult for you to cancel and doesn't allow you to remove your payment details.
They did not explain the situation at all or what happened so I don't fully understand it myself.
Unjustified August charge & unresponsive customer support – Ticket ID: 95I0U8Y5
I purchased a Deutschlandticket via MoPla on July 15, 2026, for a two-week vacation in Germany. Upon returning to Turkey, I cancelled my subscription in the app on July 28, 2026 (Ticket ID: 95I0U8Y5).
Despite cancelling in July and having returned to Turkey, MoPla automatically generated an invoice for August 2026 (€63.00). I have sent multiple emails to customer support (info@mopla.solutions) and Vetter GmbH requesting a cancellation of this charge, but I have received no human response—only continuous automated payment failure notices.
Charging customers for a month after subscription cancellation when they are no longer in the country is completely unfair. I urge MoPla and Vetter GmbH to immediately cancel the €63.00 charge for August 2026 and confirm that no further collection attempts will be made.
I just purchased one month ticket for…
I just purchased one month ticket for my kids but the MoPla app didn’t let me cancel it and I had to pay for 2 months without using it, I don’t recommend it because it forces you to keep your subscription active.
Very disappointing and misleading…
Very disappointing and misleading customer experience
I cannot recommend MoPla.
I purchased a Deutschlandticket because my friend was visiting Germany only for a short period (21–28 July). I wanted the subscription only for those days, not for the following month.
During the purchase process, I did not notice any clear warning that buying the ticket after the 10th of the month would automatically commit me to paying for the following month as well. I only discovered this immediately after completing the purchase.
Within just a few minutes, I contacted customer support and explained the situation. The ticket had not even been used yet.
I did not ask them to ignore their policy. I simply asked for a goodwill exception because the ticket was only intended for one short visit.
Instead of reviewing my case individually, I received template responses explaining the cancellation deadline without addressing my actual request.
Advertising a service as "simple", "fair", "flexible" and "pay only when you need it" creates certain expectations. My experience was the exact opposite.
Good customer service means listening to customers, especially when they contact you immediately after making an honest mistake.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend MoPla and I will choose another Deutschlandticket provider in the future.
UPDATE – AND THIS EXPERIENCE GOT EVEN WORSE
After I posted this review, MoPla challenged its authenticity on Trustpilot.
I therefore had to spend even more of my time proving that my experience was real. I submitted payment receipts, my cancellation request, MoPla’s own emails and correspondence, and evidence of the additional €63 payment.
Trustpilot reviewed my documentation and marked this review as VERIFIED.
What I find particularly disappointing is the way criticism was handled. Instead of focusing on the underlying customer complaint, finding a solution and considering how the customer experience could be improved, the authenticity of my documented review was challenged.
And the story did not end there.
MoPla had already told me in writing on 24 July that my cancellation was registered and that “Eine erneute Kündigung ist nicht notwendig” — no further cancellation was necessary.
Yet in August, the app still displayed “automatic renewal” and told me that cancelling would only take effect on 30 September 2026. The cancellation process also asked me to confirm acceptance of the Terms and Conditions again.
I refused to do that.
Instead, I contacted MoPla again in writing, quoted their own previous cancellation confirmation and formally objected to any September renewal or additional €63 charge.
Only after this further intervention did I receive written confirmation that my subscription is cancelled effective 1 September 2026.
My advice to other customers: read every subscription condition extremely carefully, keep screenshots and emails, check the status of your subscription even after receiving a cancellation confirmation, and do not blindly accept new Terms and Conditions just because an app asks you to do so. Read and understand exactly what you are agreeing to first.
I originally left a one-star review because of my customer experience. Having then been required to prove that this fully documented experience was genuine has only reinforced my opinion.
Unfortunately, one star is the minimum Trustpilot allows. Based on my personal experience, even that feels generous.
I cannot recommend MoPla.
I FEEL SCAMMED!
I FEEL SCAMMED!
I downloaded App on 30th June
Subscribed for July and paid €63
-Instead they issued a June ticket and subsequently invalidated it even after payment.
Shockingly they started trying to get paid Again!! By getting payment from my card but couldn’t.
I wrote Several times asking them to cancel but they did not cancel and kept generating payment attempts from my card. They say I should have cancelled by June 10th.
Now they say aI have to pay ANOTHER €63 or they take it to court and charge me the the legal fees and stuff like that.
I have since left the country so I have no use for the ticket.
So I’m wondering
1. Why must I pay €126 for NOTHING. NO TICKET.
2. How do I cancel on June 10th when I had not subscribed until June 30th. I didn’t even have the App or information about them by then?
3. Why did they ignore my emails until it was 10days after I started to send queries.
4. And my biggest question why is this allowed to go on with no control from the authorities.
5. Is there no consumer protection against such companies which get paid for issuing NO SERVICES AT ALL?
