poor management from Black and White Hospitality

I visited In January for the 50% off mains that was advertised through email from these scammers. Upon presentation of the bill steaks were apparently not included (in a steakhouse) Although staff agreed with my logic after being sent pictures of steaks and the small print not mentioning steaks being excluded only sharing steaks being excluded, I contacted Black and White hospitality as advised. Robyn the so called Marketing Director was slow to respond and clearly wasn't concerned with any customer service as I chased her for 4 weeks for responses, each time saying she would look into it. Eventually she agreed to have me revisit and grant me the offer I should have had in the first place. (even though I had already paid full price instead of half price) I could now pay half instead of full. As I'm a regular anyway we accepted and asked to arrange a table for the 19th Feb. 2 weeks have passed and no communication has returned, The restaurant have confirmed no reservation when I have called. Even after CC'ing other management in the emails nobody can even do the courtesy of replying. Out of principle I will not be visiting again!

**review updated. since then I was contacted by Rhiannon at the venue who arranged to make amends for this. Arranged complimentary drinks and half price food, service was top notch. Thanks to Hannah for looking after us. it takes courage to make amends when your higher management have let you down. Well done girls.

Poor Dining Experience

Dear Marco Pierre White’s New York Italian Team,

I am writing to formally express my disappointment with a recent dining experience at your restaurant in London Bridge on Friday 7 February. I received a voucher for a three-course meal with bubbles as a gift for my 40th birthday and was looking forward to a special evening. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations due to poor service and a lack of communication.

We arrived a few minutes late due to train issues and were shown to the bar, where we were told we would be called when a table became available. While waiting, we were expected to purchase our own drinks and were not offered the complimentary glass of bubbles included with our voucher. After a 20 minute wait, we were finally seated - despite having a reservation for 7:30pm and a time limit requiring us to vacate the table by 9:10pm.

Once seated, we ordered our three courses and, after enjoying our glass of bubbles, decided to order a bottle of wine while awaiting our starters. However, nearly an hour passed with no sign of our food. When we enquired with the waiter, we were not given any explanation for the delay. Another 15-20 minutes later, we were served our main courses - without ever having received our starters. The staff appeared confused when we pointed this out, and at no point did we receive an apology.

To make matters worse, when we requested to speak to a manager about the situation, we were informed that they had already left for the evening. By this point, it was after 9:30pm, and we were left feeling frustrated, hungry, and deeply disappointed by the lack of service and professionalism. While this meal was purchased as a gift, it was still a paid experience, and the standard of service we received was unacceptable.

Given the circumstances, we informed the waiter that we would not be paying for our bottle of wine and expected our voucher to be extended. However, after further consideration, we have decided that we do not wish to use this voucher at your restaurant. We will be contacting Buyagift to request an alternative experience, as this visit has completely tainted our expectations of your establishment.

My first and last experience

A first time experience going to this restaurant in Nottingham, definitely the last .
I personally had to wait for my meal of cod to be brought to the table after everyone had nearly eaten there food, then I had to wait for side orders that was to make up my meal, so my main had gone cold, to make things worse my order of potatoes were freezing cold inside
Forcing me to send them back.
Basically my meal was ruined from start to finish.
Well done chefs for letting the waitress down who was excellent may I add .

Felixstowe - staff with attitude

Booked for afternoon tea for 10 people. Food and venue were good. Restaurant manager and another staff member were blunt and had attitudes. We continually had to ask for milk and hot water for the tea, if additional tea bags were required we would have to pay for them. For the gluten free sandwiches, one was just bread and butter. However, the biggest issue was at 3.05 when we asked to order drinks, the staff member turned away and sighed heavily and advised we had to leave by 3.30. This was then questioned with the restaurant manager who advised that the confirmation would show this time slot, it doesn't and when this was shown to her she sighed and walked off. So we were completely rushed as the table was required for a 4.30 booking. This was not true as the booking for was 5.30. Overall a venue which has potential but staff with bad customer service and attitudes. This has been raised to their general manager and we still await his comments.

Champagne room booking disaster

Champagne room booking was a disaster

Booked for my brothers surprise 40th birthday

The service we have received is beyond appalling, i will begin to detail just SOME of the reasons why.

The reception had no idea who any of my hotel guests were supposed to be (rooms booked through events) , claimed they only had two bookings

Reception checked our guests into each others rooms. I.e sent guests with keys to the wrong rooms - one of them walked INTO my father's room.

They sent ME around my brother's event to figure out which guest was in what room because of their error.

After I went through all that effort the above guest was checked out at midnight anyway because they 'weren't sure who was in the room'.

The male colleague at reception was getting so confused when everyone was telling them their names. AND told me on arrival nobody had breakfast booked in the packages. I had to show them my correspondence via email to prove that we did have breakfast booked.

And then when the woman on reception was trying to rectify it, she proceeded to blame MY guests and say that they were all giving my name which is not true. They just weren't being understood by the man at the desk when they were giving their own name.

I was given the excuse that the events team system and the hotels team system are two separate systems, And rather than contacting events rectify it your female colleague decided to argue with me on the phone whilst I'm trying to get ready to host my brother's 40th birthday.

It was such a commotion I ended up booking rooms on Booking.com for one of my guests just so she could check in and get ready. Mind you this was all an hour and a half before the event was supposed to start. Then the events team contacted me after the weekend had passed to say that they will be charging me for the guest that hadn't turned up - but they had turned up... they were in the hotel.

On top of this, The tables were sat with the wrong colour table cough setting me and my vendors back by three hours from the time that we said we'd be ready by.

The welcome drinks weren't on the table i was shown and paid to have decorated they were just sat on the bar.

to make matters worse, the kids meal was not ready nor cooked so my 6 year old family member ate 45 minutes after the adult in the room.

And then to complete the night the rooms were freezing and my guests left the hotel with a cold. My towels had hair on them (mine is blonde, the hair was black), and my sisters room had nail clippings on the floor - evidence can absolutely be provided if necessary.

This is just to note a few things that happened. To say I am angry and disappointed after the weekend hosting my brother's surprise 40th is the understatement of the century.

Over 3000 pounds down the drain

My dear friend and I had afternoon tea…

My dear friend and I had afternoon tea at 2.30pm on 28/1/25 at the London Bridge branch.

After waiting a while we ordered prosecco from the bar, at which point the waiter advised us that our tables were ready, at no point did he offer to take the drinks to the table, or assist with coats, he actually watched us struggle with our coats, drinks and bags while his hands were free. When we were seated the table felt sticky and the whole restaurant smelt of stale cooked greasy meat! The environment was unpleasant to say the least, not somewhere suitable for afternoon tea, at least put a table cloth on the table. The waiter had no knowledge of tea's and just put a menu in front of us that he could not explain. The sandwiches and cakes eventually appeared, I cannot actually believe that Marco Pierre White put his name the food that appeared, it was dreadful! I wrote to the restaurant and gave them the opportunity to respond yesterday, they did not.

50% off mains scam …

I booked a table after receiving a 50% off mains email. It’s valid till 6, my table was 6. They was running behind and moved my booking till 6:15. And wouldn’t honour the 50% off. I had to prove my conformation booking as well that it was 6pm. 1 manager said it’s fine, the other said it’s not. I’ve not been there in a few years and I won’t be rushing back.

I also told them I was leaving negative reviews where I could and they wasn’t bothered

We having been going to this restaurant…

We having been going to this restaurant for the past 4 years with virgin experience vouchers as we have always in the past had fantastic service and food was amazing (bishopsgate) last Saturday after a terrible year full of ill health and the death of my brother and mother in law we treated ourselves to a voucher for our favourite place to start the new year better. We were placed on a table that was side by side so I asked to be moved to one that was face to face they put us by the till where the servers congregated and the milling around and chit chat was not the ambience I had in mind so we asked to be moved again and was put on a side by side table once again and told that was best they could do. Then the waitress proceeded to ignore us and not even take a drinks order we had to beckon her over we felt like we was ear marked as troublemakers and everyone was ignoring us so the service was shoddy nothing like we’d come to love on our previous visits to the point it has spoiled the whole experience for us and will not be returning The food was fine nothing exceptional to comment on but the menu was the same one I had seen the past 4 years. The whole place, experience was spoiled for us and unfortunately I’m heart broken as I won’t be returning again.

We always spend in region of 1-200 extra from our voucher as we want the best experience so we didn’t stick to the voucher we paid extra for both courses to upgrade

Marco at Indigo Hotel, Durham.

Wonderful.
Our party of seven went to the MPW at the Indigo Hotel in Durham, for Christmas Lunch.
This is an old, quite beautifully restored hotel, with a spectacular restaurant. Stained glass windows, different levels, exceptional finish.
We had the Christmas lunch and it was faultless. Marvelous food, top service, amazing value.
If you live near Durham and haven't tried this place , give it a go. If you don't, well it's a beautiful hotel, so make the trip!
I never give anything 10/10, so it's 9.9/10!

Went to Marco pierre New York Italian…

Went to Marco pierre New York Italian in London Bridge as a ‘buy a gift’ and we were both so disappointed - the setting was cold like canteen and the food was so tasteless. We ordered the chicken wings to start they came and were spicy - no mention on the menu. The staff Altho politel were like headless chickens The main was a spaghetti bolognaise-oh my the worse hardly any meat and worse I’ve ever tasted no flavour so bland. Ready meals I’ve tasted were better. The deserts cheesecake and tiramisu - the tiramisu was so so but the cheese cake was tasteless awful- Marco pierre your reputation is not going to do you justice and I would be ashamed to have such poor quality food. This was a gift and we were so disappointed

Better service at Wimpy

Provided my friends with a gift for the restaurant in Birmingham. They booked last week 6th December ..and Wimpy get more for service ..

Dirty plates - argumentative staff. Unorganised. Items ordered and not served. The only person who seemed to know what to do was the manager who gave refunds in items that weren’t provided.

Embarrassing .. so much for a top class restaurant

Not what I expected

When we arrived at the restaurant, although we had a booking, we weren't assigned a table but had the choice. We chose a table near the window.

On arrival, the restaurant wasn't overly busy.

A waitress promptly came and took what I thought was our drinks order, but they failed to ask my husband what he'd like and he was sat a good while without a drink.

Another waitress came to take our food order.

Our starter came out, which was lovely. I was looking forward to the rest of the meal, which didn't disappoint at first.

We were served quickly at first. That is until a large party came in. At this point it was almost as if we were forgotten about.

I constantly needed to get a waiter/waitresses attention as they were going past to ask about our food. One waitress came to our table, and was surprised and apologetic that we hadn't had our main course. This arrived and was nice.

Neither of us were going to have a desert, but because it was a special occasion we decided we would.

We both had the apple crumble with ice cream.

As my husband was half way through his desert, he discovered a foreign body in it!

I called over a waitress. She was apologetic again, and went away. She, not a manager returned to say it was normal and that it sometimes happens with said desert!

Not only was the poor waitress left to deal with this, when in my eyes it should have been someone with seniority that dealt with the situation, I am bitterly disappointed by our experience.

What was meant to be a nice evening, turned into something not very nice!

Pretty awful and overpriced.

Pretty awful and overpriced. The New York restaurant in Milton Keynes is attached to the Holiday Inn. Waitresses didn’t have a clue. We somehow had 2 assigned to our table and they repeatedly both tried taking our orders throughout. It became a joke as at one point we had eaten our dessert only to be told by another it was on the way. Food was poor quality and expensive. Nothing special about the food, experience or surroundings. Bland, bland, bland. Never to go back I’m afraid.

Travelled over two hours to Birmingham…

Travelled over two hours to Birmingham restaurant and booked overnight stay nearby with a voucher given as a gift. No mention of Monday to Friday at 5pm on voucher. Advised using voucher when booked and no restrictions advised. Turned up and staff were very rude when rejecting the voucher. Decided to still have meal and pay but felt real bad atmosphere towards us from staff. Food was good but couldn’t wait to get out of there with how was treated. Horrible experience overall.

Visited the MPW in Birmingham with high expectations and was very disappointed.

The staff were very nice but lacked any training on how to serve and clear the table.

The Sunday roast I had is probably the worst I’ve had, the beef being over cooked and chewy yet very thin. The pork and chicken both over cooked.

My wife’s vegetarian consisted of JUST the vegetables I had with my meal, yet was the same price!!

On clearing the table, one of the staff transferred what I had left from one plate to another whilst on the table and splashing gravy over me.

We won’t be visiting again.

Absolutely execrable

Absolutely execrable. Given a voucher by a friend and used it for the set menu deal - £49.99 for 2, with a bottle of prosecco. First problem - very little for me as I choose not to eat meat, and do not eat dairy due to sinus issues. Had to settle for a poor version of panzanella (halved ice cold cherry tomatoes, scant chopped red onion, meagre crumbs of bread and a vaguely sweetish dressing of sorts). The Spouse had indifferent nachos. The only main I could opt for was spaghetti pomodoro. Simply vile. The so called sauce tasted like cheap, supermarket own brand tomato soup, with (more !) halved cherry tomatoes - 2 to be precise. Abominable, with a few shreds of fresh basil. The Mrs. paid a £10.50 supplement for a paltry steak, plus a swingeing £3.50 for a watery peppercorn sauce. Parsimonious little lukewarm portions of brownie, and about a teaspon of low quality vanilla ice cream. No flexibility re the vino - we asked if we could swap the prosecco for a (cheaper) still rose - no. At the meal's end I said to the wait staff that I noted nobody had asked how our food was. I enquired if that was because they knew how simply dreadful it was. I then elaborated on just how awful the experience had been. Save your money, go somewhere better.
