Excellent service

Excellent service. Much more helpful than the other London Service Partner Apple recommended. They fixed my Vintage MacBook at a reasonable price. Very pleased.

I have used MR Shoreditch on a few occasions to resolve issues with different MacBooks I’ve owned and I have nothing but good things to say. Fantastic service, timely repairs and the booking and update system works a treat. Many thanks for your help!

Was quoted £950 , only to find out it should of been £199

Was quoted £950 to repair MacBook Pro 15” mid 2015 model 3 weeks after it was lost in the shop.I had told them that it was a battery issue, so took my device to apple Brent Cross for a second opinion.I was told at apple that worst case scenario it will cost £750 pound to do the same repair(new logic board and new battery)after diagnostic’s I picked up my MacBook and it cost me £199 for a new battery, that was all that was wrong.. beware of scams

Rip off.

So. I spilled soda on my macbook pro.
After leaving it to dry for a couple of days I could start it, but it was working extremely slow and if I unplugged the power the computer died.
I booked an appointment at Apples website at MR in Islington.
They took my computer to the back, opened it up quickly and came back with the news that the computer was completely destroyed.
I needed to change the entire logic board, battery, track pad and keyboard and got quoted for almost £1100 to "return it to normal functionality", and was told it was not worth fixing, and that i should just continue using it as it is until it dies and buy a new one.
Little did i know that when they had opened the computer up, it was absolutely FULL of dust (I've had it for a few years, and haven't had the right screw driver to open it up and clean it out) and instead of telling me, or at least just go in with a tweezer and clear the heatsink (which would have taken 30 seconds) they just closed it up and told me to continue using it as is (clogged with dust).

After a while i decided to try to fix it myself.
I have never opened anything up in my life before but i thought it was worth having a go to clean the insides of the computer and change the damaged battery.
As i was opening the computer up I was shocked to see all the dust that was in there. The back of the fan was absolutely clogged with one massive bit of compressed dust.
Now I don't suggest that they are responsible to keep the inside of my computer clean. But they are a repair centre, that had opened my macbook up to diagnose it. Completely ignored the fact that there was clearly a dust issue, closed it back up dirty and not even mentioned the dust issue to me.
Again, I don't expect them to clean my computer out for me, but you would expect at least to be told when they'd just had it open for diagnosis.
They just gave me the computer back and told me to use it as is in it's impaired state (bad advice!!), that it would be impossible to restore it to normal functionality without changing all the parts quoted and that all i could do was to just wait for it to die.

So, I bought a battery for £99 and a tool kit for £30.
Following an online guide, I took my computer completely apart, properly cleaned every bit as i put it back in, put a new battery in, cleaned the logic board carefully with alcohol, cleared all the dust out, put it all back together again and low and behold the computer is working like it's new.

I've taken it to another non Apple affiliated macbook repair shop, just so someone can have a closer look at the logic board i was told was completely beyond rescue and completely ruined, just to find out it is absolutely fine. It just needed a clean. No water damage, no sugar damage.
So here I am, having been quoted almost £1100 to fix my computer, been advised to keep using it in it's dirty state until it breaks and buy a new one, when all i had to do was to spend £130 on a battery and tools, and a day cleaning it.
Had I followed MRs advise and just kept using it in its sugary and dusty state it would have for sure broken down in a near future. But here I am, on a completely functioning macbook with a completely functioning logic board still going.

Trash Go anywhere else but here

I sent my flexgate issue on macbook to get fixed, i was told repair was going to be free and so i sent in my laptop. And then they sent me an invoice for £700 pounds, i told them i no longer wanted to fix the screen but they said in order to release my laptop id have to pay £90. I figured since i was going to have to pay almost 1/7th of the fixing price i might as well just get it done. Paid £700 for the repair. Mind you my laptop was in perfect condition other than the screen before i sent it in. I was using it with a second monitor and it was working fine. After i got my laptop back after they supposedly replaced the screen, it keeps crashing. Something that would never happen before. Now it keeps crashing whenever im on zoom or try to export a video on premiere pro. They claim that it was coincidental but I never had these issues till i sent them my laptop to get “fixed”. Please save your money. And send it to either apple directly or at this point a third party service will probably be way cheaper and more reliable. Please go anywhere else but here.

I have never written a review in my…

I have never written a review in my life, but having had the worst experience I thought I should, to save people wasting there time on this company.

Firstly, the guy working there was rude and not delicate with my MacBook. When I received my computer a week later ( pick up and drop off due to covid) I could see that there was still dust and scratches on my keyboard ( I went to get the whole touch bar and keyboard replaced) I then went to another Apple certified shop which told me it had not been replaced at all.

So they basically lied about even looking at my laptop, wasted my time , were rude and obviously think nothing of there customers to not even do what they said they would and then pretend that they had. What are these people getting paid for ?

The most disappointing experience ( mr shoreditch branch ) I hope they close down and stop wasting peoples time and money.

Hi Bali,

You booked your machine in with us, as you say, to have the keyboard replaced under the Repair Exchange Program for sticking keys. Unfortunately when we ran our diagnostics and inspected the machine it was clear that it had been subject to some sort of liquid damage as there was sticky residue.

Due to the presence of liquid damage your keyboard wasn't eligible for the repair program and we would have had to quote you the Top Case exchange price which is not an inconsiderable amount. In order to try and help as best as possible and not hit you with that the technician instead performed a disassembly and cleaning of the keys. After this he fully tested it and the keys all worked.

You've talked about wasting people's money but what we did was our very best within our mandate as an Apple Authorised Service Provider to fix your machine's fault, which was not eligible to be covered by Apple, at no charge. This was all noted on the PDF job report we emailed you which you could have read.

Excellent experience to fix laptop

My Macbook screen stopped working so I contacted MR London to organise a repair following a recommendation from Apple. The team were very helpful and the repair was done super quickly, meaning that I was only without my laptop for a few days despite the difficulties caused by COVID. All in all an excelent experience, I highly recommend!

If you have an Apple product don't go…

If you have an Apple product don't go here. You would expect to be charged similar prices for repairs to the official prices if you go through Apple Stores given that it is an 'Apple Authorised Service Provider'. However, the cost for a battery replacement (official Apple cost £129 for Macbook Pro 13') was £344!

They know what they are doing and don't put the prices anywhere for you to see before hand. You need to give your laptop for a 'diagnosis' before they give you a quote. Then if you decide you don't want to go ahead - which obviously why would you rationally want to given the excessive cost - you have to pay approximately £89 for the 'diagnosis'. Then you are stuck either paying excessive repair costs or £89 for nothing.

Speaking to the representative on the phone the guys couldn't care less. They know they have you caught at this point and just tell you take it or leave it.

In the interest of total transparency and objectivity the repair was all fine (so far). However, I believe these guys are complete chancers who know what they are doing and will never ever use their service again and recommend no one else does. That Apple still advertises such places as 'official' service providers is terrible. There needs to be clarity on pricing policies from both Apple and MR Systems.

Avoid using them if you can

Avoid using them if you can! Not the best experience with these guys. While they were repairing my, they managed to put a load of scratches on the machine - they obviously denied it when raised it with them. Just say's to me that they're careless. If your mac is your pride and joy - don't leave it with them. Either go elsewhere or book it in with Apple directly. You have be warned!

USELESS

- unpaired my phone
- then said that can’t repair it
- I need a new one and it’s not worth it
- then can’t pair my watch back to my phone

Wasted an hour of my time to tell me they cannot do anything for me.

The service is appalling and deliberately so and they do not know the technology. The screen on my watch was cracked. They could have said they do not replace screens and that my only choice is to buy a new watch. But what they did was take the strap off unpair the watch from my iphone and then tell me I needed a new watch and they cannot pair the old watch back to the phone (they tried for an hour and failed and glibly said they will continue to try all day to time me out as they knew I could not wait all day). A totally cynical approach to business. Never use these people. It is a fundamentally dishonest approach.

Hi,

We are working on a strict appointment-only basis as part of our safe working practices. You booked in your Apple Watch on Thursday 05.11.20 and then showed up two days early. My colleague agreed to let you in anyway as you’d been waiting outside for a while and he wanted to help. He tried at every step of the way to help you and was willing to keep trying despite it taking much longer than the appointment. Despite his best efforts and willingness to help your response was to become angry, loud and abusive.

To respond to your individual claims in order:

1. There are steps to take before going in to an Apple store or an AASP, such as ourselves, for Apple Watch service. The first of these is to back it up and unpair it - please see Apple’s article clearly stating this https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT207826 - removing the Watch strap is also one of the steps
2. Watch screens are not repaired by Apple, the service option is to replace the device at an exchange price, this information is available on Apple support and the prices are clearly listed on our website.
3. The decision whether to go through with the replacement or not is yours to make.
4. When you decided not to go ahead the Watch did take a long time to pair due to its damage and my colleague spent well over your alloted appointment time trying to help you despite that clearly being your responsibility as laid out in the above article. It finally did pair but there was no backup - again it’s clearly stated in both Apple’s preparation article and our Ts & Cs that you should have a backup before coming in to the store.
