Google Suspended My Business Profile Unfairly – Deeply Disappointed by Their Flawed Policies

I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed with Google’s handling of my Business Profile suspension. I’ve been living and running my business in Geneva, Switzerland, yet Google has suspended my Google My Business (GMB) account citing a “geographic discrepancy.”

Here’s the irony: I live in Switzerland, my business is based here, and I even run Google Ads using a Swiss credit card. But despite all that, Google decided to suspend my account because, according to them, the “profile manager is located in Pakistan,” while the business location is in the US. That’s not even accurate — my business is NOT based in the US, and I manage everything from Geneva.

They sent a robotic response that shows zero understanding of real-world international business operations. In today's digital era, it’s normal for businesses and managers to work remotely or travel. But Google is still stuck in some outdated model where they expect every profile manager to physically sit in the same location as the business address.

Their response reads:

“A key requirement is that both the profile managers/co-owners and the business location must be in the same geographical region to maintain profile integrity.”

What kind of flawed logic is this? So if you move countries, you’re expected to either close your business or change your entire online identity? This policy is not just unreasonable — it’s damaging to small businesses trying to stay visible online.

Despite explaining my situation, showing that I live in Switzerland, and even providing proof through ad spend and billing info, they’ve refused to reinstate the profile. No proper escalation. No human logic. Just a generic rejection.

Google’s policies are inflexible, poorly implemented, and frankly, hostile to global businesses. Their support is slow, impersonal, and offers no real path for resolution. I expected much better from a company that claims to support small businesses.

Google needs to seriously revisit its GMB policies and offer proper, human-based support — especially for legitimate business owners who rely on their platform to survive.

Now, I am heading towards a lawsuit against Zurich branch of Google, no matter how much amount of money I have to put, I don’t care and I worked so hard to build my profile and in the end they showed zero support.

I brought the Pixel 9 Pro with the…

I brought the Pixel 9 Pro with the trade in of my old phone. When my new phone was delivered it had a crack on the screen.
They offered either a refund or buy a new phone and once they get my phone back I will get it credited back.
I don't have another £1000 to buy another phone!
I asked them very kindly to send a new phone and once I get my new phone I am more than happy to send this back!
They said they can't do that..... They have my bank details from buying the phone so surely they can do something where if I don't send the damaged phone they can then charge me..... It Amazon and other small business can do this then why can't a Multi-Billion doller company not offer this!
Their customer started friendly but then just become cold and started to sound all AL and their manger was completely rude!
I won't be buying anything Google again!
It's a shame really as I use to love Google but now I can see they don't care about their customers and just care about the money.
I'm now stuck with a cracked phone that cost me £1000 but I can't afford to send this back for a refund and be without a phone for the 30 days it takes for then to refund.......
What a joke of a company!!!

Could not give zero stars. New motto "be evil"

I used to be a big fan of the googlemonster. Back when it showed web pages in the search results. Now you have to scroll down and wade through a bunch of promoted google products to even find web pages. Search results have been becoming much less relevant to me as a user: mostly advertising google products, and then the other products that pay to have google advertise them. I used to use (and like) gmail. I have left gmail. I seldom use google search any more, replacing it with chatgpt and bing and using startpage if i must check google search. I've used google merchant as a retailer, and it's such a flop that it's infuriating. It took 9 (nine!!) 45-minute-plus sessions with google merchant "support" to get our products to display correctly in USA. I gave up on getting them displayed correctly in Canada. That was 18 months ago. Now google merchant is all messed up in a whole bunch of new ways, with nary a peep from support on the tickets i continually submit. google maps is consistently (this is surely intentional) out by 100-200m in china. i have used google ads, peaking momentarily on an ROI of roughly zero, but usually with deeply negative ROI and google's incessant recommendations: "you can see a 40% increase in conversions with only a 60% increase in spending and only a 29% decrease in ROI" So google is recommending i INCREASE my investment to LOSE an even larger percentage of that increased investment?!!
