Saved The Day

Friday, I had a puncture from a nail stuck. I was able to drive to MyCar at Watergardens. They were extremely busy, however they repaired the puncture and I was on my way in under two hours. I was so happy.

A little frustrating

A little frustrating. You book your car in online. Turn up on the day and they have no idea who or how many cars had been booked in. The vehicle was serviced on time.

On 28/3 I took my car for a service and…

On 28/3 I took my car for a service and when booking online had noted a part I wanted changed. Upon arrival they hadn’t read the note and therefore didn’t have the part in. I had a GM genuine part but they said it couldn’t be used.
Issues were identified and the explanation and quotes were clear. I rebooked for 02.04 to have the castor arms replaced and a smoke test done to identify any causes for the codes found. If no leaks were found he was going to replace a sensor and see if that was the issue. Upon arrival there was no record of my booking. I explained and they took the car in. (Approx 9am). 330 I got a call saying they’d checked the arms and they found a crack and they’d done a smoke test. They had NOT listened and changed the arms as requested- the fault was found on the last visit. They said they’d get it done. At 5pm approx I went to collect the car. They told me no vacuum leaks were found and the codes related to a stretched timing chain with a quote of $5k. No further investigation was done or questions asked.
I knew it wasn’t the chain as the issue had been presenting varying codes over time which I explained the first day.
I now have a noise when I turn right which I believe is a result of them having to rush to change the arms??and I have changed the evap purge valve which I found to be stuck open therefore causing unmetered airflow and generating the code combination. No new or pending codes displaying.

I will not be returning to this store.
My 3 rating is because the mechanic on the Saturday was genuinely helpful even if the entire requirement wasn’t met. The mechanics in the Thursday were dis interested, inattentive and lacked any initiative - going straight to a $5 k repair without further checking and finding the faulty part.

Service was prompt and in fact Andrea was kind enough to accommodate my other car to change brake pads and disk same day. Much appreciated for helping with that even though I did not have a prior booking

Fantastic service as usual.

Fantastic service as usual.The staff at the Watergardens/Sydenham branch are honest and upfront, no hidden costs. I mistakenly engaged the window lock (which I never use) and thought the windows were not working. They could have ripped me off, but didn't. They even changed a globe and did not
charge me.

Been going there for 10 years and will continue to take my car there for repairs/servicing.

It’s a nope from me. Avoid if you have a 🐱

Went for a standard service and Mycar wrongly diagnosed that my car needed a whole engine replacement. It’s a 12 yr old car that has only done 70,000km and always had its services done on time. Was then just casually asked if I’d just get a new car, like it’s nothing. Might be female, but I’m not an idiot.

Took to a dealership where it was diagnosed with needing a thermostat replacement and a small oil leak. Cost me less than half of what mycar quoted me and none of the stress.

Only good thing is that MyCar fully refunded me the cost of the service that they didn’t do.
