Serendipitous find. I had reached a dead end. Even though we did not have a breakthrough, I am so happy and impressed with this service. Niels was professional, kind, honest, prompt - truly everything you could ask for. I never felt pressured to keep on searching, and in fact was even refunded when we agreed we had likely mutually reached a dead end in terms of the research goal. I have rarely felt that I could truly "trust" like this - a quality that cannot be quantified, and that is so intangible as to be difficult to put into words. Mydanishroots.dk was the 2d delightful experience I've had with Denmark. The first was back in 2011 when I and my beloved were married on Bornholm Island. 72 all too short hours in an environment where we were treated like neighbors rather than visitors/tourists. Shopping for silver wedding rings, replacing a lost camera, sampling the local foods, hiring transportation, just strolling around the harbor at Ronne - the cordiality can only be experienced, not described It was all the more pleasant in that we were sixty-somethings trying to act like thirty-somethings. The ceremony itself was sweet: afterward, when we declined celebratory champagne, staff instantly brought out sparkling apple cider!! The sea air, the rustic 19th century hotel, but above all the hospitality of the people: in Bornholm we were like family. I will always have fond memories of Danish hospitality.

I asked one question about my Danish grandfather, who I never met, and the response was 14 hours later with the answer I was looking for, including additional information! Now that is amazing service.

I have nothing but praise for My Danish Roots. Niels has been so helpful in finding baptism details from 1777 for my greatx3 grandfather, quickly and professionally. I wish he had a twin who could solve the problems I have with my Scottish ancestors! I do not speak Danish and I would advise any English-speaker needing family research doing in Denmark to consult My Danish Roots.

I dont know Danish, so I cant answer these questions. However, could you take it a step further and possibly find a relative or two who are alive? I am planning a trip to Denmark and would love to meet some of my cousins. I would be happy to pay more money.

We always had a big question mark on our family tree over a Danish ancestor. We had scoured records on and off for years but could never find anything more about him. Fast response .... excellent performance

I've been working with Niels for the last year getting some old family letters translated that are from the 1800s. When I first contacted him he thought it would be better to find someone who specialized in old documents. And boy did I try to find someone! I hired multiple people who "specialized' and even had a PHD student working on it. But everyone bowed out because of the difficulty. When I reconnected with Niels and explained the predicament he decided to set aside the time to work on it. -- And now after a year we have the 17 letters sent to my Great Great Great Grandfather by his siblings and other relatives translated for the first time in 170 years. We even had an unknown letter that was written by my GGG Grandfather to his siblings that was never sent. We never knew we had a single word from him before now. It's amazing to see a little piece of personality come through all these generations later. To say I'm "Happy" with the work done by Niels and My Danish Roots would be an understatement!!!

Until working with Niels we didn't have the link back to Denmark. But as the letters were being worked on Niels was able to find the necessary information to make connections!

Oh, and beyond the letters, Niels is also working on expanding the family tree by digging through old documents. We traced my GGG Grandfather's military history as well as found his siblings and descendants. I'm seriously impressed!

My father was born in Denmark but despite this, large numbers of my family were unknown to me because he immigrated to the U.S. before I was born. I spent countless hours searching through the Danish church books on line with no luck. My Danish Roots found my great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and living cousins.
