Boat Cover Did not fit

Summary:
I purchased a boat cover from National Covers on April 13, 2026, based on their website’s listing for a Grady White 2019 285 Freedom DL. The product arrived on April 24, 2026. When I attempted to use the cover, it did not fit my boat — it did not even reach the bottom of the windows and was significantly too small.

Details of the Issue:
After discovering the incorrect fit, I contacted National Covers to request an exchange. Each time I called, I was directed back to their website to submit a return request. It was unclear whether I was speaking with a live representative or an automated system.

I submitted the online return form twice and was told I would receive an email with instructions. No email arrived either time. I called again and insisted on speaking with someone who could escalate the issue. Only then did I finally receive the return email.

The return instructions stated that I would be required to pay:

a 10% credit card fee,

a 35% restocking fee, and

approximately $100 in return shipping.

This is despite the fact that I was attempting to exchange the product for the correct size, not return it for a refund. At no point was I given a clear process for exchanging the item.

Why I am filing this complaint:
National Covers provided a product that does not fit the boat model they advertised compatibility for. Their customer service process made it extremely difficult to resolve the issue, and the fees they are attempting to charge are excessive and unreasonable given that the product was not usable as delivered.

Requested Resolution:
I am requesting a full refund or a no‑fee exchange for the correct size cover, without restocking fees, credit card fees, or shipping charges. I simply want the product I ordered, or a fair refund if they cannot provide it.

Poor Quality & No Support

We purchased a pontoon boat cover on 02/22/2025, and it has already torn. When my husband contacted National Covers, they directed him to the manufacturer, Eevelle. Eevelle is operating as National Covers/National RV, they are the same company.

He submitted a warranty claim over three weeks ago and has received absolutely no response. Despite repeated phone calls, emails, and a resubmitted claim a week ago, no one has followed up.

The cover does not hold up, and the warranty is essentially worthless since no one is willing to respond or stand behind the product. We will continue using all available online outlets to try to get a response.

Untrustworthy business - Fraud

Untrustworthy business. Purchased 26' boat cover and two engine covers. Engine covers do not fit at all. Attempting to get an exchange or return, zero response to customer service email, voice mails left, nor via their online return portal. No response at all over multiple days and multiple attempts. I should have read the BBB reviews and known their "F" rating before purchase. Notice how the phone number of the website constantly changes - strange right. Notice how you can't leave feedback on their website, google reviews, nor facebook. However, their ratings on the website are all glowing - these must be fake. The consumer can't check the positive google rating posted on the website - it is fake - just simply a screenshot on their website. They run many "cover" companies under this umbrella company. All with similar problems and issues found here on BBB with their F rating and other web forums. They also operate "Outdoor Cover Warehouse" where you will find identical products for a cheaper price. When requesting reimbursement for the price difference, the company stated, "Thank you for reaching out to National Covers. We do not reimburse for previous purchases nor do we price match. Outdoor Cover Warehouse is our outlet store, you're welcome to purchase from there directly. Regards, Linda, National Covers, Carlsbad, California." Odd to have an outlet with a different name from the parent company. When following up to this email response asking again about exchanging the engine covers, no response. You get the picture. This company and all of its subsidiaries should be investigated by the Federal Government for fraud.
