Worst experience EVER!

I have had so many issues attempting to transact with this bank! The hours has horrible, especially if you you work a 9-5 job. so the branch is open BUT for advising only? Why? We the customers use banks for transactions. On top of that I have twice walked away from the tellers being denied access to my money. Customer service is not a consideration! Do not consider this bank!

Worst institution I've delt with

Worst institution I've delt with, they messed up our mortgage, withdraws money without explanation and whenever they feel like, customer service representative have conflicting stories are very uncurtious and argumentative, disorganized, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
An absolute nightmare to deal with

Want to acknowledge contribution of Mason Chang, NB Banking Advisor at 500 Hwy 7 Branch We came in with just the letter and debit card to activate at ABM, not only did he answer all our questions but also volunteered to guide us on online banking registry, certain tips and promos available in the bank to maximize the service with least amount of charges and fees. I went above and beyond what we needed for the visit. He is a true example that other NB colleagues should emulate.

This bank does not accommodate people…

This bank does not accommodate people with disabilities whatsoever. I use IP RELAY Canada to communicate but they insist on bell, or rogers relay systems. I don't have either of them nor will i ever use those thieves. My relay system is good enough for the canadian government, CRA, and many other services so they insist i also go inside the bank ( i don't leave my home and i haven't been inside a bank in over 20 yrs) to verify my identity. As if a scammer would call collections to steal information. They are so stupid and will never deal with them again. If they want their money then they can damn well accomodate me.

KNOW YOUR CLIENT

I wouldn’t recommend NBC. Been trying to make headway since September 2023. They enabled a condo property manager complete control over our corporate accounts and refuse to provide any information to our condo board who are the lawful account holder. The PM manager was able to close both our operating and reserve funds without authorization from the corporation. Now NBC is denying any and all records. The PM manager also is refusing to cooperate. Spoke with representative under direction of CEO and they are still protecting the PM company. It appears every person sees the name of the PM company on the account from 15 years ago and then stops and says they can’t help me or provide any info. Who do you think appointed this PM company and granted access? We have proven who the board members are which does not include a PM company hired by the board. Our condo corporation has no way of knowing our true account status at closing of accounts and we suspect money is missing but have not got complete records. Which the bank won’t release to us. Apparently NBC does not follow FINTRAC or privacy laws as they reached out to PM after being advised they no longer are our PM company. KNOW YOUR CLIENT NBC do better.

I had a variable rate mortgage with…

I had a variable rate mortgage with this bank. When mortgage rates started going up they would send a letter. Each time there was a rate increase and each time I would call the phone numbers on the letter and each time the numbers would end up referring back to each other with never a human to be found. It took months and several rate increases before I discovered there was a physical branch 3 hours from me, which I then called and was able to lock in at a rate that was much much higher than it would have been had the mortgage company provided the legitimate phone number. Since then I have had more problems with national bank taking various amounts out of my account and not honoring the mortgage agreement that I signed.

I would like the bank and future…

I would like the bank and future customers to know how much national bank is so disrespectful and unprofessional toward their customers.
Back story: I need to pay my student loans under an agreement of certain amount every month. I made a mistake once and transferred the right amount not more to cover other hidden fees.
So i had 2 dollars less and the entire automatic system got cancelled without my knowledge. So I called in Décembre to inquire. Mind you, you will be transferred 5 times before speaking to someone Who actually cares about doing their job. They told me different stories. And they said okay put the money and we will fix it. Same issue in Decembre. January, we have again the same issue. But the new info is I had to go to the branch and give them autorisation. It was done on Saturday and till now the amount i had to pay is still there.
I call today since 6:30 and every département plays ping pong with me, oh call perception ohhh call the loan. Oh and they have this unpleasant judgy employée called Laila who has 0 listening skills and judge you without knowing the situation.
I am still with another inconsiderate employee. I tried something else to pay myself from the section of loan online and surprisingly he said ohh yea I can see it but until now the supposedly automatic system didnt work.
And now, I have 0 trust 0 trust in this bank and have to surveille their every step to see business is done.

Why I am telling you all this story? Because if you are in Montreal and you want to use good banking system and services, dont choose national bank at all. It is unreliable and dishonest.

It is the first time i see a bank that dont want their money on time but will harass you with late interest.

Mind you as well it has affected my crédit report and i never ever had an issue with another bank in my life. I wanted to fix this honest mistake since 3 months and still not résolved.

Worst bank

Worst bank. If i could give a zero i would. One is too generous. National bank stole money from my parents who paid off their mortgage by charging them for 2 extra months. When they noticed this, they contacted National Bank. The bank told them they wouldn't reimburse them because it was apparrently my parents "duty to notify" the bank that they paid off the mortgage!! What the heck? That was a year ago when this occured. My elderly parents have since closed ALL their accounts! How does the bank that has your mortgage not know it's paid off?!! And steals your money? With the audacity to not reimburse! Service is horrible and staff have zero people skills. In my area they have hired only Rude south asians. This is not to be prejudice but the TRUTh to of the level of service and lack of diversity in the workplace. When you call, you wait forever on the phone for an agent. Also, I recently got a reduced rate on my line of credit. They said everything was changed
i followed up by checking my statement and now I have a interest payments applied 2x separate times during one month and the interest is STILL THE SAME AND NOT REDUCED AFTER TALKING TO AN AGENT WHO SPECIFIED IT WAS DONE AND CHANGED AND REDUCE. very horrible and shady bank. Thieves!!

For 5 years we did business with the…

For 5 years we did business with the NBC, because Montréal International guided us there. Branch office: place d'Armes in Montreal. We only met an advisor at the account opening. From then on they saw emloyees leaving and we never got a personal contact, dedicated to care about us. Calling us back in Switzerland was not allowed to their Mastercard division employees. Terrible adminstrative burdens. An online-banking which leaps 10 years behind today e-banking solutions here in Europe. - Never ever NBC/BNC again! To their board: you better modernise your shop and make your employees responsible for their customer relations!

Ask for Sara if your in the GTA

Originally switched to this bank 20 years ago because of Mortgage Brokers but my experiences with a Mortgage Development Manager named Sara who helped myself and both my kids to get mortgages was so amazing I have never left. She almost always answers her phone even if she is talking on the other line. quick to reply to email questions and will explain things over and over again without getting frustrated if you don't understand. Sad to see all the negative comments but I guess it takes more individuals like Sara to make a great bank.

Absolutely hands down worst bank to…

Absolutely hands down worst bank to deal with. They hold funds, block etransfers, lock you out of your account constantly and when you attempt to call you are on hold for hours on end. My father passed away and left me this account, otherwise I would have never gone to this bank. I will be closing it and transferring it to another. Do yourself a favor and avoid this bank.

Just the worse

I never write a review, but stay away from this bank. Can't get ahold of anyone and always having problems with mobile or telephone banking. I called several times and they just hung up on me. Do yourself a favor and choose a different bank to handle your money.

Worst bank I've dealt with. Nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone on the phone. Several issues with online app and server. Transfer take days and have to email them to get anything done. Strongly suggest stay away. Never again...

Hours on the phone waiting....

Hours on the phone waiting multiple times to get on line access. No statements in years. No access to statement online. I was told you could get it online by the person I contacted but that is not true. So now I have to wait again wasting more time. Their customer service is a joke:(
