The main aim of this airport is to extract as much money from you as they can before you even board a plane. The latest example of this is the removal of the free parking at Short Stay 2 and reloc... See more

Disgusting approach
Disgusting approach, took away my new perfume for no clear reason. Reported that didnt pass security check.
First impressions were very good
First impressions were very good. I had booked assistance for two people in our party of three, one due to Autism and the other due to mobility issues ie standing and walking long distances and some difficulty with climbing stairs. However at the assistance desk I confirmed that I could manage the stairs to get into the aeroplane I didn’t want to take a place from someone less able than me. We were given a slip and told to be at gate 17 by 6.00am. We had booked the lounge but left to get to the gate by 6.00, (we had to go down two flights of stairs to get there) only to be told that we were too early and to take a seat. We waited and waited, there was no screen to give boarding information, the staff member who had told us to take a seat disappeared and as time went on I was getting more and more concerned that the gate had been changed, so I attempted to go to the gate and was stopped by a rather stroppy member of staff who said where are you going madam, I tried to explain that we had been told to be there by 6.00 and I wanted to check if our flight was still going from this gate, I mentioned that I had been told by assistance to be here by 6.00, but had just been told to sit and wait, as soon as I mentioned assistance she told me I was at the wrong gate and needed to be at 19, I tried to explain that I didn’t need assistance to get on the plane but she just kept talking over me, she also said she didn’t know if our flight was going from gate 17, she was very sharp with me and her attitude just added to the stress. We felt we had no alternative but to go up to gate 19 for which I had to climb 2 flights of stairs. When I got there the staff were much more accommodating they told me I only needed to be there if I needed assistance getting on the plane, we had just caught the transport vehicle and they invited us to join them as they had room to take us And they didn’t want us going back down the stairs. When we were sat on the plane a member of the team from the gate came to find us as we hadn’t been checked in at the gate I told him what had happened and he apologised and said the assistance desk is always getting it wrong, 17 was the right gate but they shouldn’t have told me to be there by 6.00, that was only for people who needed help getting on and had to go to gate 19. It was a very stressful experience, we’d paid extra for the lounge and left earlier than needed due to the information we were given the person in our party with autism was also quite stressed and although I can climb stairs it wasnt easy having to climb back up two flights when it wasn’t needed. Apparently we should have been told to wait until the gate was announced. Not a good experience for anyone let alone people who need assistance you need to make sure that correct information is given.
Robbery
£12 for parking 5 minutes at Newcastle Airport.
Went in, asked for info, came straight back out.
Biggest rip-off ever.
This isn’t parking fees, this is daylight robbery.
Sort it out.
Parking charges are a rip off
Parking charges are absolutely farcical. Greed. Pure greed, that's all it is. Shame, because it's a nice airport otherwise.
Determined to suck as much money out of…
Determined to suck as much money out of your wallet before you even get near a plane.
Everywhere restricted or red lined, free drop off removed forcing you to pay the extortionate £6 fee.
Stupid taped off empty lanes forcing you to do the needless conga round the poles.
Staff stood around in groups chatting , nothing to do with us.
Rip off £7 fast track, waste of time.
Purgatory of having to walk through the duty free hell.
Crazy prices for food and drink, nearly £20 at Burglar King for a meal now.
Poor communication of any delays.
Aspire lounge akin to the chimps tea party.
Lack of air bridges to save money.
Herded on to chinese electric coaches like animals to the slaughter.
Not a pleasant experience.
Absolutely appalling
Absolutely appalling experience at Newcastle Airport.
After landing, I was greeted by a UK border officer who seemed to have a serious attitude problem. Simply because I didn’t immediately say “good morning” to him, he became confrontational and threatened to use his powers to detain me. I was extremely tired after travelling and there was a queue behind me, so I found his behaviour completely unnecessary and disproportionate. As I had to travel straight to work that morning, I decided not to argue and simply complied.
And then there’s the exchange rate at the airport. The rate being offered to buy Euros is absolutely outrageous. For example, €20 is currently worth around £17, yet Newcastle Airport was charging £27 for €20. That is an enormous markup and, in my opinion, something that seriously needs investigating.
Overall, a very poor experience that left a particularly bad impression of Newcastle Airport.
Horrendous parking charges
Horrendous parking charges, collecting a family member whose flight is after 11pm. Last train from Parkway Metro Station is 11:30pm. Therefore forced to use the short stay parking 1hr £12 - 2hrs £22 - £26???
First and last trip from Newcastle Airport!
Breaking its own Noise Action Plan - our community suffering
I live under the GIRLI departure route - the area Newcastle Airport admits gets 98% of all noise complaints. Yet despite months of reporting severe disturbance, nothing has changed.
This morning I was woken before 6am by constant, extremely loud take‑offs. This isn’t occasional noise, it’s relentless. And it’s wrecking my health: migraines, pain, fatigue, PEM, and struggling with basic daily tasks.
The airport’s Noise Action Plan promises:
“minimising noise during sensitive periods”
“reducing adverse health effects”
“accessible complaints systems”
“timely responses to concerns”
But in reality:
Complaints are ignored
No mitigation is offered
Their WebTrak system is inaccessible
Noise is increasing, not decreasing
And now they plan to expand, even though their own modelling shows more people will be exposed to harmful noise - especially in Clara Vale, Ryton, Throckley, and Heddon‑on‑the‑Wall.
Newcastle Airport cannot call itself a “good neighbour” while breaking its own Noise Action Plan and harming the people who live under its flight paths.
Our community deserves better.
I fly regularly to spain ,Newcastle… Airport the worst ever
I fly regularly to spain ,Newcastle airport for the first time landed, cabin crew, advised long wait at passport control, we were kept on the plane 20 minutes told steps were unable to work correctly, I think a lie to allow huge backlog at the carousel area ,once cleared the plane were told number 1 baggage reclaim and it was broken and didn't have our flight luggage waited seeming a very long time no information I witnessed an elderly gent trying to ask at a desk what was happening she ignored him but he persisted ony to be treated very rudely saying she couldn't understand the airport mobile communications radio .then eventually announced alicante passengers go to number 3 except it was for some other majorca flight luggage then announced majorca flight go to carousel 1 then our flight was directed to number 3 only to wait 15minutes for it to load up. Once outside the airport only 1 car park bus running 30 more minutes by this time passengers were really annoyed phoning to see why the bus was taking so long there was no bus shelter fortunately it wasn't raining. I will never use Newcastle airport ever again, our family were exhausted by this badly run airport
Kicked out of lounge for being “not fit…
Kicked out of lounge for being “not fit to fly”. Had 7 bottles and no spirits. Been in multiple lounges before and 2 months prior had 14 bottles before time ran out and still didnt get kicked out - and was only just tipsy.
Was only with girlfriend aswell - not as if it was a rowdy stag do
I think they realised I was getting close to their break even and power tripped
Rude staff.
One thing you need to do is employ people who want to work there and not to use assistance travel staff who seem to be trained doctors on how they judge people with disabilities when booking in. Very embarrassing to everyone concerned.
Huge shout out to Newcastle Park and…
Huge shout out to Newcastle Park and Fly, i returned to pick the car up and found that i had inputted the return date incorrectly, the exit machine showed i owed £50 for the day extra, my son proceeded to the office to be greeted by a pleasant and helpful guy who stated it should be £12.50 which we paid great service, However in error i showed my card at the machine and it took the £50 which i only found out the next day, i E mailed the office where i had a reply from a guy called Graham requesting my card details and within the hour i was re-imbursed the £50 pounds into my acvount the next day.
Absolutely great service from the office staff and Grahsm who i cannot thank enough due to my errors, well done and thanks
Parking is too expensive.
Like Newcastle airport BUT won't be flying from here again Owen to the cost of parking.i got parking for 7 days 22 july to 29th, and 15 days parking plus hotel in Glasgow airport and the difference in price was £4.They are going to loss passengers.
Terrible baggage handling
Again, baggage arrival so very late & belt kept jamming.
Staff confirm this is an ongoing problem .. so why do t they fix it.
Still waiting after 45 minutes & no sign of bags.
Care and understanding, brilliant service
We booked the assisted travel through Jet 2 and they were excellent as were the staff at Newcastle Airport. Young Max from Jet 2 made sure that we were looked after from the outset and then John from Cramlington took over showing everyone the utmost respect and compassion while also being very efficient. The whole team were superb, many thanks to them all.
Baggage Claim Painfully Slow. Car Parking a Rip Off
Baggage handling can be incredibly slow. My disabled sister called me when she arrived at the baggage carousel and so I parked up and went to assist her thinking it would be just a few minutes. FORTY MINUTES for the suitcases to arrive on the carousel and still loads of people still waiting when we left (3:30 Heathrow flight). Oh, SIXTEEN POUNDS for the parking too. Must be the most expensive car park in North East!
Pleasantly surprised going through…
Pleasantly surprised going through security today .Rebecca was friendly professional and so helpful.
Made all the difference to our trip today
I have lived here all my life
I have lived here all my life. The lines to security never change. It is quicker to be a non UK citizen. Border force advised me to complain.
Why does NIA not care about customers or UK residents?
The assistance lift is a joke now
The assistance lift is a joke now never had any problems with my parents getting on but this time we did I have bad anxiety and they would only let me on the lift and the man at assisted desk at gate is very arrogant as we didn’t see sign so he was moaning then looking at us constantly he had a face like a know it all
Terrible
Terrible. Shit airport shit services. Shit parking. Fines for any and everything.
Friend fined for doing me a favour. Terrible just want to kill you for every single penny.
