Brushing off sexual harassment

Absolutely awful, I’ve reported so many serious incidents to the teachers such as sexual harassment from males in the class just to get told by a teacher she doesn’t care because she likes them, I’ve went to 4 different supports to report this and they can’t do anything because they don’t have someone for that sort of stuff.. are you serious? Not only has this happened to me but many people , and all their concerns and indidents have been brushed off due to the teachers sexual preference towards the male students ignoring any serious concern. Do not go here I beg

Choose another college

If you are an employer and thinking about sending your bricklaying apprentice here trust me when I say dont !
They do half days for the whole course and barely teach the basics, when my apprentice asked for more tuition on bonds he was told to google it
Course ran over three months longer than stated and when he did pass he waited 5 weeks for confirmation
Even tho the certificate is
dated 7 days after his EPA

Politically biased, disrespectful and rude

Political, appear to have paid off any observation board. Create a Political bias towards me, assumed I was something I wasn't, used my justified reaction to then remove me from the course and that's only part 1.

Upon requesting my subject access request (SAR) (which I strongly recommend everyone who has had a negative experience at NCD to do) it revealed that the college team were saying contradictions (I'll not get into details) but first they say my grades weren't good enough, then they withheld my grades and tried to blackmail me with the course pass to drop my complaint! So help me God if they even try to remove this review I will submit another.

Go here if you want to destroy your self esteem.

There pure garbage they will leave you…

There pure garbage they will leave you high n dry and don't care Ur from disadvantaged background. They treat everyone the same but some tutors need a walk up pill that we arnt all equals people's. Mixed signals college of the year. My potential wasn't grown by coming In Fact I would say it was hindered by imbecilic tutors past their used by date. mind you it's not an uncommon theme in these kinds of places. Should get some secondary school teachers in and then they will be truly complete

Brilliant staff, courses and amenities surrounding!

I first started New College Durham back in September 2019, since then I have studied two level 3 courses, passed both my Maths and English Language GCSE's and am currently about to start my 2nd year at university level!

Despite other reviews listed for this college/university campus, this facility has great staff for teaching and offers multiple teams to support you with issues inside and outside of student life.
The campus has never posed any issue for myself and I have met many of my great friends at this location.

The Facilities that I have had access to as a student for these years have been fantastic, providing great equipment to aid with learning both as a part of class and on our own.

In my time at New College I have dealt with around 14 - 15 tutors, due to studying four different subjects, and I have had not a problem with any of them. They are friendly, supportive and brilliant at what they do!

I do have autism and when I have needed support it has been there, I did not use all the resources that they had as I am quite self-sufficient 99.9% of the time, but when they are needed they definitely do not disappoint.

I think most (although not all) negative reviews online for this college/university are due to young adults leaving school and starting college expecting to be coddled like a petulant school child when they are legally a young adult, you shouldn't have to be forced into making something of yourself, you should just want to do it.

That aside, I do also realize courses can be vastly different hence why I do not think every negative review is unwarranted, however due to the length of time I have studied there you see examples of the above on a constant basis and I feel it is unfair that most reviews reflect surprised youth's forgetting that they are no longer children.

Overall I cannot fault this college/university, I have met my closest friends and learned to hone in my skills to make myself better at my chosen profession whilst at New College Durham. The staff and support teams are brilliant and it is local to many great eats and Durham city center, can't go wrong!

DO NOT GO HERE.

DO NOT GO HERE.
I left a totally reasonable review of my awful HE experience here and they have tried to get it taken down. Look at the stats. Utterly terrible. Take down as many reviews as you want but the offering is still officially poor.

There a garbage hole for boneheaded…

There a garbage hole for boneheaded individuals without the sense to go work for a more reputable place, basically the ragend of educational settings. What I learned here did not help me land a job, in fact my efforts to find anything while studying were not recognised. My marks not good enough for top -up when you only need basic pass
They are a useless shambles of a place with no morals or common sense. Your qualifications will quickly lose any value shorty after leaving as they failed to offer me any alternatives

Terrible - AVOID

The Games Development course is a shambles. 3 weeks now with most of my lessons without a lecturer present. When there is a lecturer there they don’t teach you, just sit there and do nothing.

Honest Review

New College Durham is a fantastic college that offers a variety of different courses. I studied Travel & Tourism here for 1 year (2020-2021). To start off with, the lecturers are supportive, friendly and helpful and will even go out of their way on their days off to help you with your assignments or listen to any concerns you have wether that's a weekday or weekend. Faye was my main lecturer and she's done an incredible job especially helping the group throughout teams and zoom calls during the third lockdown in January and February. Faye was also training a new teacher called Laura and they've both done a spectacular job and I throw my hats off to them.

The College itself as a whole is organized, and most definitely supportive. The College gave me a laptop to take home (a new laptop) to work on my assignments over lockdown and they even provided me with an atlas that the travel course requires you to buy at the start of the year. The staff are lenient and flexible.

The Maths department at New College is also very supportive though they do have their ups and downs. I have always struggled with Maths but I had an additional coaching session with Helen which I highly appreciated and learned lots more with Helen than I did in my actual main lessons. I can't write a say on the English department as I did not study English here due to passing at GCSE stage.

Overall, this college is brilliant and I highly recommend it! Huge congratulations to the Travel & Tourism department and the head of Travel, Rebecca.

Learning support department inadequate

Poor learning support provision acts patronising, belittling towards those with mental disabilities, physical health impairments and treats them like garbage, Claire horrid old learning support assistant is still working at New college Durham and despite numerous complaints by other students she still works there; the college still has not sacked her and still many other students even the classroom still complaint about the lack of support available, bullying even by members of staff at the college.

Shambles of a college

Shambles of a college.

Course information/ prerequisites are inaccurate.

Assignments don’t get marked on time; tutors just regurgitate old outdated material.

Security is an absolute joke, is literally none existent.
