It seemed to be a great idea of an app. However!! Community guidelines are like living under an HOA! You'll get flagged and reported for trivial and petty things. For instance: if you create a post then 3 hours later reshare thre same post (repost), your post will be hidden and marked as spam. You will them have to send it to appeal (like an HOA). You also cannot udder abbreviations for you name but in profile settings it has option to display your full name or first name and last initial....dumb stuff!! These people are a bunch of narcissists. I am not over exaggerating lol every little thing gets reported.

I was reported my second day on NEXTDOOR!! For... not using my real first name. So I emailed them with screenshots of my profile with my name. I was told that after "review" that suspension was done in error and my account was reinstated. Not even a few days later, hit with the post thing. Whoever is running this app needs spiritual deliverance asap or shut this bad idea of an app down.

I'm not usually the sort of person who leaves scathing reviews but for NextDoor I felt I had to do so.
I initially signed on with this app when I received letter from a nearby neighbour inviting me to sign up with NextDoor with a sign-up code. It was written in a first person perspective and was printed in a way to make it look like it had come from a home printer. I signed on and had a look around. Turns out it was fake and it was just a mass mail-shot from Next door pretending to be my neighbour. With that sort of underhand ethos within the company, I told them to go do one.

Originally, I joined this site at the recommended of my neighbours, as I heard it's a great place to find local joiners, painters etc. to get some work done. It was great for this as a lot of people can point you in the right direction. I noticed one or two unfunny "joke" posts (e.g. people thinking everyone wants to read a joke that the poster finds hilarious).
I haven't used it for months and recently went back on and now see it has become a hotbed of political discourse from certain kinds of people. Then I see many more people posting racist, misogynistic and homophobic jokes. "Nobody has a sense of humour anymore!" Is their go-to defence, completely forgetting that the site is for ALL of the community. I notice that lots of people posting on my community are from different areas! It's either attention seeking or they don't know the basic geography of where they live. My actual neighbours who got me onto it in the first place have deactivated their accounts because it's just toxic. So I have done the same! Try goggling your local area and see if there's an alternative site you can use. But avoid any all costs.

Unwanted messages seems to be impossible to unsubscribe from. Keeps telling me I'm unsubscribed but the messages keep coming. Cant remember signing up.

To all members of the public im going to warn you once and once only about this fake site one minute praising you and then banning you off the site for passing post .
Not only that they share your details with everyone they sell them all the scammets give your names and details to businesses to have you checked over you think it's agood site you wouldn't if you knew what they do for you telling the truth on there sites .
Never put anything about your money

Over-indulgent moderators remove posts for no proper reason (not my posts, but other people's). They are even removing posts complaining that their post has been removed! Clearly a strong-left-wing bias to the moderators as well. Nextdoor: Perhaps try what Meta is doing and only involve moderators when someone reports a post. Moderators need to be strictly controlled.

Disgusting company. I returned an item that was in terrible condition and never received a refund! Avoid at all cost!!

I am disgusted in the treatment towards myself hostile n not made welcome to Brum at all! I've relocated from York to Brum I am a vunerable woman never been in Brum before had to leave all my belongings in York as had to flee for my safety health n wellbeing I have bipolar n other disorders n am under mental health I'm alone in Brum in one room in a shared house with 3 men I did my bio n was saying coming from a very small city to Brum is such a shock at how huge it is n a culture experience one of which I was looking forward to learning about n hoped to meet other neighbours for support n help I didn't ask for money only if someone had a spare tv they didn't use as I've lost everuthing. My real name is freespirit by deep pole change in 2005 when I got divorced from a domestic violence marriage of 14 yrs but computer says no so I have to put miss free spirit I sent in proof of my name. I've had no explanation just simply blocked indefinitely VERY NEIGHBOURLY …. NOT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP IF U ARE VUNERABLE OR HAVE MENTAL HEALTH OR DISORDERS LIKE BIPOLAR LIKE MYSELF AS U WONT GET THE SUPPORT N HELP THAT THESE NEIGHBOURS SAY IM DISGUSTED AT HOW IVE BEEN TREATED I DONT HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD IM AN HONEST GENUINE WOMAN WHO CAME T BRUM N REACHED.OUT FOR SUPPORT …. Think this site is run by the BBC.post critical of Labour government or mention kier Starmer and your band.will spread the word on social media.i only ever write the truth.
Let battle begin

Nextdoor could be so much better. However, instead of being a useful repository for information, it's littered with irrelevant posts, many don't even have a proper subject line (some just have a phone number - why is that even allowed?). The location setting doesn't work properly, I just want to see posts relevant to my area, but it seems that the poster decides who should see it and that overrides any options the receiver has chosen. That's poor design. The moderation seems to be non-existent, with tighter and more sensible moderation it would be worth looking at, but sadly at the moment, the quality is lacking. Reporting options are too generic, there needs to be a free-text option to be able to explain what the problem is. There can be some useful info, but only if you have the patience to sift through the click-bait and pointless posts first.

No freedom of speech, very biased moderators, if you say things that don’t go with their woke agenda, they delete it and punish you for 30 days, that’s belittling and childish, grow up, words like crap or f*** would get your account suspended, I said the world is f****ed up and boom my account suspended 30 days, I’m going to delete this stupid app because you can’t have freedom of speech there and their site always have glitches, it’s crap

I joined as you input yr area to help yr neighbours, Within an hour My inbox filled up with men, I felt uncomfortable so asked the community if there was settings to prevent this. A group of nasty ladies basically said I'd asked for it as I had a profile photo. Called me An Attention seeker. It was like a pack of wolves. I've deactivated the account. I'm still speechless.

This app is a complete waste of time. Its geared towards promoting racisim and division. Only pro zionist views are allowed there. If you report anti Islamic or call out people for calling others 'odious' the app suspend the whistleblowers... And elevate the people making the attacks. Shameful nasty app

It can be useful to find help. HOWEVER there seems no way to contact the owner/moderator with suggestions. I've suggested several times on general chat that there be a lost and found column always available. You can rarely find an ad again after a day or two and I imagine many owners could be reunited with, say, their lost pets if they could find the same post again, perhaps a few days later. So many cats and dogs seem to go missing.

The app has some miserable people making negative comments and deliberately unsupportive towards some issues towards woman posted. There are people from the community trying to post positive awareness but are constantly challenged with negative attitudes. The moderators of the app need to take a closer look and block trouble makers and who make members of the community feel uncomfortable. The point of the app is to share positive information & awareness to help others
I would not recommend using the app as the negative energy from some members make it unpleasant to read or post

2 months ago my account was suspended for making a humorous comment on a neighbours post and ive only just got it reinstated ive been back on nextdoor 24 hours to find my account suspended indefinitely for referring to my previous suspension as a prison sentence . and all i got was a page with no explanation why i had been suspended so i made an appeal on nextdoor which if you do make an appeal it is never overturned from as from previous experience i feel that nextdoor is a dictatorship site do as we say do as we do or you are banned there is absolutely no humour or having a laugh with your neighbours on that site as they look at that as belittling or bullying the review team get great pleasure from suspending peoples accounts just to say to their other review cronies i did that to that person . the site is an absolute joke honestly it is . join this site at your peril and it will go ok for the first couple of months then without any notice your account will be suspended and you can make an appeal which will not be overturned . you have been warned !!!

..Atention prospective advertisers..
Any adevertisers planning to use Nextdoor, don’t the site is politically bias, it’s reviewer team not only think they run the site but they are vindictive, selective and humourless, they remove posts for the feeblest of reasons
Eg a member was called a sex offender, he reported the comment, and was promptly indefinitely suspended’ the person who made the totally unfounded comment is still on, if you want your company to have any credibility please don’t advertise on here

Unfiltered. RASICT. Negative. Risk to social quality and living.

I left the app and closed my account because it became depressing and it had the same old trolls and scammers and lonely damaged people week in, week out! It stopped being useful and helpful about what is happening and going on in the community and became a forum for extremists attacking each other.

I joined Nextdoor as I thought it would be useful to discover and share things about my local region. However, I have grown sick and tired of people constantly posting avout political and philosophical things, especially as they can lead to argumentative threads. They should get themselves onto X or some other social platform if they want to spout about things like that!
