Our local next door group is full of criminals

Our local next door group (Slough uk) is no longer of use to local people. Over the last 5 yrs it has been hijacked by criminals advertising their illegal activity. The local admin team are very weak. They level of favouritism is shocking. They dont tolerate criticism but they allow discrimination and crime. God forbid you post a comment that doesn't comply with the hive mind.
The rules are not applied equally or consistently. The admin is made up of gossipy old ladies who think everyone should sit in a circle singing Kum by Ya.

There is no way to contact any user support. So we are at the mercy of the local admins who do not want to rock the boat or actually do anything useful.
It's also impossible to unsubscribe from getting their emails. Ive unsubscribed many times since deleting the app but still get dozens of unwanted emails every day. The messaging process isn't private more than once someone who didn't message me has accessed my messages. There is also sexual harassment of female users by rogue males using the app to find victims and sending women unsolicited messages about paying for sex. Again the admins are weak and incapable of dealing with the problem. If you complain you are criticised publicly by the admin team. It's very toxic.
The best thing i did was to uninstall this app. Like most of my neighbours have done.

Leave it for the criminals and cash in hand bandits.

Locked Out for Participating in Local Elections

I joined Nextdoor hoping to participate in local community discussions and Scottsdale civic issues, but the moderation and account lockout system has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had on a social platform.

I was repeatedly locked out simply for discussing and promoting a local political candidate during an active local election. Whether someone agrees politically or not, residents should be allowed to respectfully participate in local civic conversations without fearing sudden account lockouts and account restrictions.

What made the experience even worse was the lack of meaningful human support. Once locked out, I could not properly access my account, effectively appeal, or even deactivate my own account. No platform should completely lock users out of their own accounts without a fair and transparent review process.

Community moderation is understandable. But repeatedly silencing local political discussion while offering little real support or accountability is unacceptable.

Very disappointing experience overall.

Nextdoor "identity verification" scam

Tried to post some items to give away free and was redirected to their "new identity verification" system, which appears to be captured by hackers. It asked for full bank account details, including balance, presumably to contact you later to transfer your balance to a "safe account". I declined and gave credit card details instead (big mistake) - then started getting transaction requests for various amounts, which I declined. Phoned my credit card provider and they looked into it, confirmed the scam, and cancelled my card. So that's the end of Nextdoor for me. You have been warned!

Do not waste your time with this…

Do not waste your time with this ‘community’ group. Far better platforms available. I run a small business and Nextdoor accidentally lost 50% of my reviews. As any owner of a small business knows, positive reviews mean a lot to reassure locals. Almost 6 months later my reviews have not been ‘found by the tech department’ and nobody from Nextdoor is getting back to me. Appalling customer service.

Newport Next Door is like a geriatric…

Newport Next Door is like a geriatric…

Newport Next Door is like a geriatric Puritan site run by North Korean petty officials. It is far too full of adverts for cakes and othyer ghastly stuff, and most of the rest is boring repetetive animal pics, cats, dogs, birds. You don't need Dignitas, you could die of boredom just reading ther stuff. But Worse, they will suspend your account for totally arbitrary reasons if you dare say anything more interesting, especially if your politics are not Hard Left. They suspended me for calling out the strange inconsistency of the Green party in supporting HS2. Maybe in Stasiport that is heresy. I know someone on Newport Idle Chat which seems far better. It is in fact possible to view their shizzle even if banned, if you know your IT, but really why would you want to. And their site is clunky, half the stuff it purports to do doesn;t work, like viewing other areas, or seeing comments in chrnological order. Avoid like the Plague, I'd give it zero or even minus stars if I could.

I wish I could give zero or negative…

I wish I could give zero or negative stars... I never signed up for emails and honestly don't even remember signing up my email to this platform. For the past 4+ years I have been having to CONSTANTLY and I mean constantly unsubscribe my email from notifications. I have deleted the account, I have unsubscribed from all emails and notifications, I have communicated with customer service to please stop contacting me and then what happens?! about 2 weeks to a month later, they reactivate my account and start blasting me with daily emails. Honestly, I cannot even tell you how many times I have been through this loop. It has been so so many. I have reported the emails on my host, flagged them as spam, yet somehow they keep coming. Save yourself the massive headache and just avoid this platform.

The address system simply does not work…

The address system simply does not work and whenever I select my repopulated address the system simply ignores it and enters a random address miles away from me, as for the long winded method using Google Maps it lets you go through that palaver and then simply reverts to the random (wrong) address again.

Nextdoor continues to send me daily…

Nextdoor continues to send me daily emails despite the fact that I have never signed up for an account, requested one, or authorized the use of my email address. It is unacceptable for a company to scrape data or create 'ghost' profiles without consent.
If a business requires spamming people who aren't even customers just to stay relevant, it shows a complete lack of integrity. Stop the daily emails and respect basic privacy

I’m really disappointed with my…

I’m really disappointed with my experience on Nextdoor. I made a simple, positive post sharing a personal life update about becoming a nanny again — nothing offensive, no advertising, just a happy family moment.
The post was removed. I then edited it and removed the scan photo — still removed. I rewrote it completely to just a basic sentence, and it was removed again.
What’s frustrating is that their own guidelines state that personal updates and life events are allowed as part of community sharing. Yet in practice, posts seem to be removed based on subjective reports or personal opinions rather than actual rules.
It feels inconsistent and unfair, and after multiple removals I honestly feel like I’m being targeted. There’s also very little transparency — no clear explanation of what rule was supposedly broken, just generic responses.
A community platform should be about connecting neighbours, not discouraging harmless, positive posts.
Until moderation becomes clearer and more consistent, it’s hard to trust the platform

Absolutely Rubbish App That Promotes Illegal Activity!

This is the E-Mail that I sent to the CEO of NextDoor, and of course he didn't respond, so I've now deleted the Nextdoor App.
FOR THE PERSONAL ATTENTION OF NIRAV TOLIA - CEO OF NEXTDOOR.

I'm sorry to have to write to you direct but I am absolutely appalled at the actions of the "so-called moderators" of this app. Whilst they have suspended my A/C indefinitely citing that I have alledgedly "Breached Guidelines" - the offending post is shown below, where there is absolutely no mention of "race, religion, nationality, colour or creed" mentioned in that message, so how can it be viewed as being against the guidelines? See my E-Mail thread below. Additionally, and probably more importantly, NextDoor continually allow the posting of illegal content which violates UK law. This includes, but is not limited to;-
The provision of Fake Driving Licences
The provision of Fake Passports
Tax Evasion
The promoting of Hate Marches
The sale of Home Made Food without the necessary Hygiene Certificate
The sale of Home Made Food without the necessary Licence
The provision of Child Care and Care For the Elderly without the Mandatory Certification
Advertisers promoting themselves as qualified masseurs, when they are nothing but sexual predators!
Advertisers promoting themselves as Qualified English Tutors, when their posts clearly show that they can't speak English properly themselves, illustrated by poor spelling, poor grammar and poor punctuation.
The NextDoor site posts news items from various newspapers and local online sites. and actively requests your opinion of the item and asks "what do you think about....". When you reply to that question, your reply is deemed as "violating the guidelines". Why ask the questions if you immediately ban the answers?
NextDoor moderators regularly take down posts because they are about national and not local issues, but at the same time ask the questions as in 10 above. If they deem that only local issues should be addressed on NextDoor, then why are they allowing national newspapers feeds on national and political issues and actively asking "what do you think about....."
NextDoor continually allow rogue tradesmen to advertise on the site, when they have already been informed by the community that they serve, that many have been scammed by those tradesmen, and by doing that, they are not protecting the local community, but doing the opposite and putting the local community in real danger of scammers.
Take the above items away and you're left with around 5% of legal content, and of that probably another 4% is about lost, stolen and injured cats and dogs, so approximately 1% of the total content actually is about local issues. Personally, I am very far from being impressed and by writing to you direct, I want to make you aware of how your "so-called moderators" are bringing this app into disrepute. I have seen that many members are leaving, and for exactly the same reasons.

If you don't wish to reinstate my Account, then that's your decision, AND, it certainly will be no loss to me, but either way, I am seriously considering reporting Items 1-13 as above, to the relevant authorities.

I’d advocate a -star option. -10 would be appropriate

One star is misleading, by now I rate it -10 stars.
There are serious issues with moderation (they are volunteers and apply their political bias openly). I am polite, never insult anyone and I give fact checked information to correct misinformation.
I report insults and national politics canvassing in the same polite manner.

At one point a commenter actually posted that moderators are getting fed up with my reporting insults and national politics.

My reports of insults and national politics (canvassing!!!) are either ignored or action is taken weeks later (when the original post no longer is in the immediate feed).
The latest moderation decided that the council I live in is not my neighbourhood and disabled commenting for me.
I have a huge collection of screenshots.

In short, I cannot recommend the next door neighbours website if you are a peaceful, polite and factual person.
I might follow the example of GenZ, get a dumbphone and leave social media.

It's awful

It's awful
What should have been a good community building app is now full of people making snide comments
Some people have genuine concerns about what happens in their community only to met with typical self righteous comments from the Karen's
Shame on the developers and moderators for not nipping this in the bud sooner

A site for scammers, criminals and dole scroungers.

This site is nothing but a collection of foreigners asking for cash in hand jobs, childcare jobs and accommodation for boys of girls Asian only of course, begging and knocked off stuff. Where are Admin? Suspending people who point this out.
They allow people who have no command of the English language to ask for childcare posts. These people have no qualifications in childcare, H&S, References, checkable work history or proof that they are allowed to work in this country. Then we have the dole scroungers asking for cash in hand jobs.
The amount of scammers for money, furniture etc is off the scale and the beggars who expect us to fund them.
People advertise services, do a terrible job then untraceable.
People ask for this, that and the other but no manners at all.
What good is this site? If you ask me it is a site for criminals and scammers and should be shut down.

Don't sign up for this!!!

Firstly, it seems to be a site for neighbours to complain about each other. That's most of what I get. There really isn't a lot of neighbourly sharing. But the worst thing is the sheer amount of email notifications, sometimes half a dozen in a day. When I try to unsubscribe, I can't and the emails keep coming. I even complained to them and asked them to unsubscribe me and they assured they had, and the emails are still coming! Next step is complaining to the Information Commissioner's Office to see if that will stop them.

Next door - lousy

If it were possible to give zero, I would. This is an absolutely appalling "service". I signed up today to sell a few items to local neighbours. As soon as I posted I was told my account had been suspended indefinitely, by a staff member, for a breach of community guidelines. The guidelines make perfect sense, I agree with them and breached NONE OF THEM. I tried to contact and this far no reply. This is disgusting. Avoid this service, please!!

Suddenly out of the blue getting 5+ emails a day. Tried to unsubscribe from everything except my own posts and seems like now I’m getting auto subscribed to new things like ‘Nextdoor digest’ that wasn’t an option to opt out of.
