Do NOT pay in advance! They get money for nothing
I just got back from a small deployment with the military (I am a contractor) and woke up at 1 AM to find a union split open on our pool equipment. Not a critical emergency and it could wait until Saturday morning to call Next Level to get it fixed. I had used them before and was more than happy. I contacted them a few hours later and, at first, I thought the estimate was a misunderstanding. They want over $700 to replace a simple 2" union. I was exhausted, but not that exhausted. I told them I would have to pass and I set out looking for parts. A bit later they asked me for photos which I sent. Long story short, we agreed on $252 and that they would be able to get the part in 2 days on Monday. On Monday, they said the part they had in mind would not fit, then wanted to charge over $400 to do whatever. I said that was definitely way too much and they offered a refund. I accepted. On my way to get the part from a local pool store, they responded that they would honor the price initially given to me. I told them I was already at the store with the part in hand and to proceed with the refund. They gave a thumbs up (I believe. Either that or an OK) I assumed it would be a refund through the credit card, but nothing showed up. 2 weeks had passed and I messaged them. They seemed lost and said they thought it went through. Days later they said they could not issue it through the card and offered a check to be dropped off. This was the Friday before Easter and I asked if anything after Monday was good? They agreed on Monday, I said thanks. Nothing on Monday. Or Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Later on I asked about it and they wanted my address. How would they get to my house to make a repair if they do not still have my invoice/work request. I still have a copy and it has my address on it. Not only that, they have my phone number AND e-mail address through which I made the payment. Again, my fault for TRUSTING this place again. I looked back and this incident took place 6 years to the week that I had them come out and replace part of my pump. They don't keep records long as they did not have me on file, yet Yelp has my old glowing review of them.
