Hi Tim,
I’m sorry to hear you’re dissatisfied and I’d like to clarify a few points for accuracy, particularly for anyone reading this review.
Over the past six years I attended annually and carried out the work that was agreed at the time, which was a gas safety check and basic boiler inspection, not a full manufacturer strip-down service. This was explained at the outset and reflected in the documentation provided after each visit, all of which you were present for.
At no point during my visits were there any visible faults, pressure issues, warning signs from the pressure gauge, or operational concerns with the boiler, pump, expansion vessel, or pressure sensor. The last visit was approximately six months prior to the breakdown, and the boiler was operating normally at that time.
It’s also important to note that this boiler is over 10 years old, well outside of any manufacturer’s warranty, and was not installed by N. Leonardi Ltd. As with any boiler of this age, component failures can and do occur. These issues did not present themselves during any of my attendances.
With regard to draining the boiler annually, this is not standard practice unless a fault or clear indication is present. Unnecessary draining can introduce air and debris into the system and, in some cases, create further problems rather than prevent them.
When the boiler failed over Christmas, I was unfortunately unavailable as I was in hospital at the time, which is why Glow-worm were contacted directly. As you mentioned, the initial diagnosis was a PCB failure, and additional components were replaced during that visit by Glow-worm.
We look after numerous boilers and have never had an issue with manufacturer warranties being invalidated. Any boiler that we install is serviced in line with manufacturer requirements to maintain warranty, and we have long-standing professional relationships with manufacturers, including Worcester accredited work.
As a gesture of goodwill — despite maintaining that the agreed work was carried out correctly — a partial refund was provided. I’m sorry we couldn’t reach a mutual agreement on this matter, but I strongly refute that you were misled or that work was carried out improperly.
Kind regards,
Nick
