I enjoyed their service until they hiked their price 100% in the second year through their faulty auto renewal system.
I've never heard of a service doubling in price over the course of 1 year.
This concern was already brought forward through their help desk and they were not able to provide a reasonable solution.
Also, their auto renewal reminder was redirected to my spam offering no chance for me to review their new terms, Nord gave no consideration for this.
Overall, the way Nord has set their systems up seems manufactured to take advantage of customers.

Horrible refund policy.
I was testing the trial subscription - didn't like the connection speed to different servers and forgot about it for a while. After a month I received a bill for auto renewal.
Tried to refund through their customer service, they said that you can't get a refund for neither of those two payments that you did

Rolando helped with a fast and seamless account renewal. Thank You!
I've been a customer of NordVPN for 5 years. During that time they have been pretty good. App is easy to use and reliable etc. I've had no problem sticking with NordVPN but this year's renewal increase and the disingenuousness has caused me to cancel my subscription and go elsewhere.
I received an email stating that my 12 month plan will renew soon. The price? To my shock they want £125. A big increase. I go to customer support to speak to someone about why exactly I'm being charged more than the cost of a Netflix subscription for a simple VPN. Once you get past their garbage AI bot and through to a human you'll actually get an answer you're looking for.
So here's where things go south. They tell me that the price I was quoted reflects the 'value' they believe their tools provide and that if I don't want to pay that price I can simply cancel, re-join through the website and pay the price quoted there instead. The price on the site? ~£4 a month for the exact same 12-month plan. Huh?? I ask them to explain why I am being charged more than double the price for the exact same plan when I've already been a customer for the past 5 years. Of course there's no rebuttal to this blatant money-grab attempt - it's just another pasting of why they think this is fair value. There's no offer to match the price with what is literally advertised on the website; just an ultimatum to cancel and rejoin or cancel and go elsewhere.
What is it with these companies and this gross behaviour? More than a 50% increase vs the website for no reason and what really disgusts me is that they are clearly banking on people just accepting the renewal and not even looking at the website prices. What dishonest and malicious treatment for supporting your business for more than half a decade. Ironic for a company providing a VPN.
I've cancelled my subscription and I'm moving to Mullvad. I don't recommend NordVPN.

I had issue with the subscription auto-renewing without my knowledge. I was ultimately able to reach a resolution with Nord support, though it did involve escalating the issue, and ultimately took longer than it should have.
I've adjusted my review accordingly. Though I would still encourage users to pay very close attention to the automatic renewal policy, and associated potential future price increases, when signing up for their subscription.

Beware! The 'introductory offer' renews automatically. My 2-year renewal cost would have been £335.
I can however simply start another introductory offer which will cost me £70 for 2 years.
They obviously reply on people forgetting to turn off auto-renew. There is enough competition to keep the prices at these 'introductory offers'. This price hike is nothing short of a scam.

I didn't realize that I have not disabled the automatic renewal of the subscription. Support team refunded me pretty quickly despite ToS not requiring to refund automatically renewed subscriptions.
I’ve been a Nord customer since 2022 and the core VPN product works well. However, my experience with their NordVPN + Incogni bundle raises concerns that other customers should be aware of.
In 2024, while I still had remaining VPN time, I purchased another bundled plan that included NordVPN and Incogni. Because of this stacking, my NordVPN service extended to 2026, but Incogni was set to expire earlier in August 2025.
Here is the issue. My Nord account page still shows both NordVPN and Incogni as “included in your plan” and displays the subscription as “active” in green. There is no clear indication that Incogni expired months ago. As a result, I was without Incogni for approximately six months and had no idea until I logged in and saw the service was inactive.
Support explained that “active” refers to the bundle subscription auto-renewing, not the actual service status. They also stated that the billing page shows renewal information rather than live service access. To a normal customer, that is extremely misleading.
After more than an hour of back-and-forth chat, including escalation to a supervisor, the only solution offered was to repurchase Incogni. There was no billing adjustment, no credit for the six-month gap, and no acknowledgment that the user interface creates confusion.
Spending over an hour debating what the word “active” means, with a company unwilling to take ownership of what is clearly a flawed presentation, was frustrating and frankly embarrassing. Refusing even a small credit on their lowest-cost add-on product made it feel less like a misunderstanding and more like indifference to customer retention.
The VPN itself works well. However, if you purchase bundled plans or stack subscriptions, double-check actual service expiration dates inside each product. The billing page does not clearly reflect active service access, and support was unwilling to offer a practical resolution.

I do appreciate that Nord at least acknowledged the account dashboard may be unclear or misleading. That's a step in the right direction. I'm still concerned about how the account page presents subscription status in a way that reasonably implies active service when it is not.
That said, I do have to ask whether it was worth Nord defending their position so rigidly that it ultimately forced me off the platform. VPN / data removal is a highly competitive industry where customer retention should be the priority, especially when retaining an existing customer is almost always less expensive than acquiring a new one. A small credit or goodwill adjustment would likely have resolved this entirely.
I hope the feedback results in meaningful improvements for future customers.

First 2 years 6 stars
Autorenewal brutal increase
renewed to "Standard" version, But standard is not a version listed in the 3 you can buy new
Somehow charged a visa they still showed outdated in before i shut auto renewal off.
The renewed service is still 6 stars
Will not renew

I was not happy with the Auto-Renewal and they agreed to pass the refund or offer a 48 month deal for the same price.
It was a good deal so am happy.
Real Agent Chat support was super fast and responsive
The VPN service has multiple servers in Africa which is important too
The last time I bought it for the first time, I thought it was cheap because it was a first-time purchase bonus, but it was charged in US dollars and in the end it felt expensive.
The renewal fees are high so I am considering other companies. I canceled my subscription for the time being and received another offer, so I decided to renew another 2years even though the package would be basic.

I had a billing issue and it was resolved by Eladio. My renewal had happened and I changed email addresses. I was unaware of the renewal. They promptly said they would refund my account. It was 5 days since renewal but they were very helpful. Thank you to Eladio for their assistance!
I got burned by an auto-renewal subscription rip-off, but I will be using another provider next year.

Everything was fine until the auto-renewal 2 weeks before the subscription ends a 4x the price. They did refund my money, but not without some persistence. Then they tried to offer a deal, but too late. I haven't had that happen with others.

Had an issue with my renewal. Contacted customer service via email. They replied fast and professionally. Problem solved. Fantastic job! Thank you NordVPN!
I was on an auto renewal and the cost is outrageous - £137 for one year

Matías Tobar was very attentive to
my concerns and resolved an auto renewal issue that I had thought I had taken care of. Matias was able to offer an acceptable solution that was mutually beneficial. I felt valued as a client. Great service.
The service was good; I did not need nor use all the available features. I signed up for a two-year deal and forgot to cancel the auto renewal which was a shocker when I was charged $300+ for one year. I did cancel my subscription; the agent was very understanding and did end up issuing me a refund.
I wanted to use a streaming service in Finland. It worked with NordVPN for a couple of minutes, and then started reloading. This happened repeatedly (sometimes it worked for 30+ minutes, but then started again). I kept (manually) changing the server I was using, but the issue remained no matter which service I used.
I then contacted their customer service. The first representative helped me for a couple of minutes, until they said that their shift is over and handed me to another representative. I asked the next representative to read what had been discussed, but they read it so quickly that I had to explain some things again. Then we did some troubleshooting for about an hour. They asked me to try methods that made zero sense: I had to try the speed of my network connection and send screenshots, even though I knew that was not the issue. They asked me to empty my cache, even though this same issue occured with my Android phone, with my Macbook laptop, and with Chromecast - just to mention a few of different devices I tried to get it working - and with all of the browsers as well. After that one hour, I had to leave. The representative said that I can just contact them again and ask for the same representative when I come back. I did that, but then they said it was not possible to have me talking with the same representative - even though this representative was still working. So, I had to speak with a third agent, go through some of the same things again, but nothing changed. All in all, I used about 2 to 2,5 hours to chat with them.
Then they said they will create a ticket. This happened on Friday, the 13th of February, and they said it will take 1-3 business days for them to come back to me. In the meanwhile, I decided to try another VPN service - it works like a charm. Now it is Tuesday the 17th of February, so I decided to cancel my subscription with NordVPN and inform them that everything works like a magic with their competitor. Then they said to me that they can now help me to troubleshoot it - their specialists got it working - yet, it required me to contact them to hear about this. So no, they did not inform me - I had to contact them. I said it is too late for this, and I just want to make sure that my cancellation went through - while asking, why on earth it required me to contact them to hear about their specialists finding a fix. Also, I also had it working every now and then, like I wrote above, so I am assuming their specialists tried it for a couple of minutes and deemed that it was working. Or maybe they were lucky and they had that moment, when it worked for 20-30 minutes and decided that the issue is still on my side - meaning in 6 different devices and in 4 different browsers. Or maybe they didn't actually try the live streams, and tried some random TV Shows / Movies, which do work much better than the live streams.
We continued the conversation for a while, and I asked for a refund - explaining, why I feel I deserve it. They said it is not possible, because this issue didn't occur during the first 30 days of me being their customer. I then asked if they expect their customers to try every possible streaming service in the world with their VPN, inside 30 days, because how otherwise would I know whether their service works or not inside those 30 days. The representative understood the point of this question, but said that the refund policy is 30 days and that their hands are tied.
I had high expectations for their VPN service, because so many have said how wonderful it is. And it worked with most of the streaming services and connections really nicely, but not with the one I desperately needed. And you can imagine my disappointment with how slow everything was on their end to fix this, because the Olympics are on and I needed a VPN to watch them.
So, unfortunately I need to give them a one star rating.
When you as a customer have issues, you hope that everything works smoothly when you then contact them and talk with them. With this I mean that the one star rating is not only about the disappointment with their VPN, but also with how they handled everything with their customer.
So, as long as everything works smoothly, I could recommend NordVPN. But when you have issues, then it is another story and that is, in my opinion, where the quality of a service / company is measured.
One more thing: when you want to cancel your subscription with them, there is not a place where you can find a "cancel subscription" button or similar. Instead, you need to shut down the auto-renewal, which then is seen as a cancellation (in my opinion this is a bit weird).
