Ocean Sailing House Charter Problems

We booked the yacht Mamamia with Ocean Sailing House expecting a premium charter. Unfortunately, what we experienced was a catalogue of issues that made the trip fall far short of expectations.

The boat itself had numerous faults: the fridge wouldn’t close, both toilets had drainage problems (the master cabin toilet smelled from the start and refilled with sewage), one navigation screen was obscured by a black spot and we were told to “just use the other one,” the sails were extremely difficult to furl/unfurl due to poor upkeep, and the tender—advertised as new—had a puncture and wouldn’t stay inflated. On top of that, the outboard leaked fuel and its cover wouldn’t secure, and the Dock & Go system never functioned properly.

Checkout was equally frustrating. We waited over 90 minutes for a diver who never arrived before we had to leave, with the delay put down to a third-party provider.

When we tried to address these problems, most were dismissed out of hand. Management’s reaction was combative rather than constructive, and no effort was made to resolve matters in a professional way. We asked about compensation, but it was clear they weren’t focused on customer satisfaction — only short-term profit — so we did not pursue it further.

For a company offering “premium” charters, this level of service and maintenance was simply unacceptable. I hope this review helps others do their due diligence before booking with Ocean Sailing House.

All the issues you have mentioned in your online complain were never reported at the spot and OSH was never given a chance to correct it.
As a family-owned business, Ocean Sailing House takes great pride in our growth and commitment to providing the best service to all our clients, whether they choose a bareboat or crewed option.
With a team of 15 dedicated staff members, plus an additional 30 crew members on our 11 crewed catamarans, we aim to ensure every client receives the attention they deserve. We’re especially proud that, after seven successful seasons in charter, MAMAMIA continues to maintain high standards. As you may have noticed, the yacht was thoroughly cleaned, stocked with fresh linen, towels, and beach towels, and most of the inventory and equpmenet (this boat has AC, generator, dish wash, washing machine….) was fully functional. Of course, like any yacht—even new ones—technical issues can arise from time to time. We do our best to resolve any such matters quickly as soon as we’re made aware. Regarding the tender issue, we do apologize for the inconvenience it caused, but I hope the response we provided regarding the other points addressed your concerns. About the check out, you have arrived DAY EARLIER Friday morning, and with no prior schduling of the offical diver of the Marina Kastela, we are obliged to wait for their reponse. There was no intention in prolonging the disembarkment. Further to this reponse yacht was returned with filled black water tanks, missing 60 litters of diesel, punctured tender and captain did not stay for the full check out procedure finalising it with return of the documenta and receiving the deposit slip back.You have passed our office leaving the port.
I do regret that we weren’t able to discuss these matters in person before your departure, as I believe we could have resolved things more efficiently, not though social media.
