Very disappointing experience with OCR…

Very disappointing experience with OCR Car Rentals.

The vehicle I was provided had significant engine noise at highway speeds to the point it felt dangerous to drive. I reported this immediately and was instructed to return the vehicle the next morning from Brisbane to the Gold Coast for a replacement.

While already on my way, I was contacted 10 minutes before the scheduled exchange time and told no replacement vehicle was available at that location and I would need to go to a different branch instead. This turned what was already a 2+ hour trip into a longer and more inconvenient process.

Although a replacement vehicle was eventually provided, I was then charged a refuelling fee ($100) because the original vehicle wasn’t returned with a full tank — despite the fact the fuel used was to return a faulty vehicle and travelling to the revised location as directed by their team.

When I raised this, the company refused to waive or adjust the charge and extremely rude.

Overall, the handling of the situation was poor. There was no accountability for the condition of the original vehicle, and no reasonable consideration given to the inconvenience and extra costs incurred as a result of resolving the issue.

I would recommend carefully considering alternative providers, particularly if reliability and customer support are important to you.

Absolutely terrible experience.

Absolutely terrible experience.
I called OCR to arrange a car hire with pickup from Surfers Paradise and drop-off at the airport. The agent assured me I’d receive an email confirmation—but nothing ever came through. When I followed up, they finally sent it, and thankfully I checked the details the day before pick up as it was completely wrong—it listed pickup from the airport instead of what we had discussed.
When I called the surfers paradise depot again to correct this, I was told by the “manager” that the person I spoke to was new and to change the pick up location to surfers paradise, I’d have to pay an extra $70—something that was never discussed during the original call. I expressed my dissatisfaction and mentioned that this meant the price was now higher than other quotes I had received, plus I would also have the additional cost of an Uber from their depot to the airport since they don’t offer an after-hours shuttle. Despite this, I reluctantly agreed to the additional fee.
Then, later that same day—less than 24 hours before the booking—I received an email and sms saying my reservation had now been cancelled.
This left me scrambling to find another car at the last minute while traveling with my three children. Completely unreliable service and incredibly frustrating to deal with adding additional fees and cancelling my reservation last minute. Do not recommend.

Terrible service, rude and unprofessional

We hired a MG turned out to be a Haaval.We then drove 1 hr to sea world with our young children and had fun till 330 when we left.The car that had been parked in Sea Worlds car park wouldnt start so we called OCR car rentals whose first response was to accuse me of breaking the car.After a truly horrible few hrs with them who took the car away and put us in a Uber both of us agreeing to just refund us the 4 days hire + baby seats minus the Uber.
When we chased up this refund we have been told "there is no way and why would they" in our mind because we didnt have the car as it broke down!
anyway chased up with budget.com the parent company and have also been denied any refund.Watch these crooks!
