Disappointing waste of time

The engine is on the shelf, price agreed, collection date agreed ..... then nothing. No call, phone calls not answered, no response to texts. Last thing was a text saying 'I'm on other phone call later'. That was a week ago. Very disappointing waste of time.
I suppose I'm lucky I found out what they're like before they had my car.

Don’t touch this company with a barge pole

Don’t touch this company with a barge pole.

I paid nearly £5,000 against an original quote of around £1,700. Long delays in simply collecting vehicle.

No response to repeated requests to provide engine number, as I had suspected that rather than rebuilt they had simply bought and installed a second hand lump.

The advert suggested they had state of the art equipment and 5 ramps, (latest advert for their Harrow facility states 10 ramps). When I went to collect my car from their previous facility I saw a condemned building with a couple of pallet trucks which looked like they were being used to lift engines out. They were moving to their ‘new’ premises in the next few days apparently.

Even a subsequent SAR, a legal request for provision of the engine number, so that I could compare with my documentation, was ignored and the only reason it didn’t go to court was that the court asked for an expert’s report (i.e. further expense), and here’s the killer .. the report had to be written representing the interests of both parties (courts have an effective way of reducing workloads!!!) 🧐😖🤣

When returned, eventually, it continued to burn oil like there was no tomorrow and it failed its emissions test. It was returned at further expense and subsequently returned (at a further cost) to me in a filthy state, one of the filthy oily hats of a worker left in the back.

To cut a long and painful story short, last Thu 27 Feb 20 coming up a hill into our village, suddenly the engine revved at maximum, thick black smoke poured out of the exhaust. I limped home with the vehicle juddering, no power etc.

When I took it to the local garage the next day. Fri 28 Feb 20 they said in their opinion diesel had been leaking into the oil following the so-called engine rebuild. Then oil had been sucked into the turbo, so much oil in the engine that the pistons could not compress causing the con rod to bend, which resulted in timing being out and no power.

The vehicle is undriveable and is fit only for scrap or spares.

I suspect the 2 year so-called warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on (Kev, if you are reading this please feel fee to contradict me and offer to fix and/or replace the engine free of charge under the terms of the warranty) 😖😂

Beware of this company:

Costs are excessive, just to collect your vehicle was nearly £300! The final cost of a so-called “rebuild/repair” which did not repair the vehicle incidentally, was more than double the original quote.

The huge delay in pickup and return was unacceptable .. yet I was forced to accept their shoddy “service”.

Communications was dreadful. Whenever you called them it went straight to voicemail, but you couldn’t leave a message because it was always full. Getting a call back was always random.

The state of the vehicle when returned for the second time was disgusting. We had to hire a car to go on a family holiday to Scotland. (Further expense).

This company warrants investigation by an Industry Watchdog because they are a total and utter disgrace.
