Omtech Polar purchase and excellent after- sale customer service

After an initial problem that was not Omtech's fault (a huge fire at the UK distribution centre), Omtech reached out and delivered a replacement. The aftersales support they have offered me has been excellent, thank you. Highly recommended.

I received my Polar Laser a couple…

I received my Polar Laser a couple weeks ago and yet have not powered it on. First I had to build a bend for the laser in my shop. Got to say this machine looks well constructed.
Now that its on my bench I'm reading a watching videos learning about how to setup and use. It doesn't seems to be as easy as it says but I'm sure I will get there. Can't wait to start my first project.
I have to say this because it bothers me. Page one of the manual talks about safety and wearing goggles for protection. You would think a laser manufacture that is worried about laser safety would enclose at least one pair of safety googles. After reading that I turned around and bought 2 pairs. One for me and one for whoever want to check out my new laser. Other than that, that is it, can't wait to power on and see what this beast can do.

Frustration

I’ve sent several emails called and I’ve chatted with a representative . It has gone no where . Extremely frustrating when I’ve spent a lot of money on this product and nothing has been resolved . I constantly get the reply that we will respond in 24 to 48hrs . My machine is broken that I’ve had for 2 months . I just want to return it and get a different machine. I’m not asking for a refund I’ve been very patient but there comes a time when it’s frustrating. I’ve asked for a time line so I know if I need to cancel my orders that I’ve received. I worked hard to get my business and it’s not a good look to cancel orders. So it’d not looking good for them either.

Omtech was able to help me with the…

Omtech was able to help me with the introduction of their motherboard to my K40 Co2 laser from China. I found the process of cutting the wires on my ribbon cable was a bit beyond my skill set. So I returned their motherboard for a refund.

Super fast shipping on my AF2440 100W

I ordered a AF2440 100w and it shipped the next day. It arrived quickly and was crated very well. The delivery driver was kind enough to help me put it in the shop. It was easy to setup with t h e help of videos from the Facebook Omtech group. My only minor complaint is the door is bent out about 1/2 an inch on one side. If I bend it back it might Crack the powdercoating. I didn't bother reporting it as I was expecting there would be some fit/finish possible issues for the price. I am really enjoying the laser and the things I can now create.

Phone support is excellent

Phone support is excellent. They understand the problem and told me how to fix it. There was an issue with my controller and they walked me through the process on how to program it. Thank you Omtech.

Love my machine 80w CO2 laser MF2028-80
All works perfect, the only thing was that it was leaking water from one of the hoses inside the machine. My daughter notice it and i was able to fix it my self. Other than that great machine and quality.

Not impressed

Not impressed, customer service is near to none. Ordered a 60 watt laser tube that was shown to be in stock, received an email after I purchased it that it was not in stock and delivery would be delayed 8 - 14 days...
Received a package but it was not a laser tube as described on my receipt, but a Drywall Sander.
Contacted customer support via the website and was told I'd need to email... so what's the point of the online service? My guess, just to drive initial sales.
So I emailed my purchase number and description of what happened. After the waiting period (timezones across seas) I was told I had to send photos of the labels, sku numbers, and product so they could see what went wrong. Again had to wait for reply, which was just to send me the return label and instructions on how to return the item. I was then emailed that the correct item was being shipped.
That's it.
No offer for a discount or any type of refund, just a request to review the service, so there you have it.
With the amount of competition available in the market, one chance is really all a company has anymore to right any wrongs.

Just a follow up on my disappointment…

Just a follow up on my disappointment with OMTech.
I managed to locate a very knowledgeable and kind local college teacher who took pity on me. Keep in mind, I’ve had my 80 watt machine over a year, but never managed to do much because the beam alignment was frustrating me … there was virtually no customer support. When the gent came to set my machine up, he took out each mirror. They were, (his words) “horrible”. Scratched. I told OMTech, because I sure in hell had nothing to do with it. “If that is the case” (scratched), they want photos, which means I’d need to take them out. Nope. It is working… I’ll buy my own mirrors. I simply thought someone might wonder if they could improve my experience… and help. But no… I’m on my own, and should you buy an OMTech laser, you’ll have done as I have.. bought a paddle for your own ass. Also, the only interest shown by OMTech was when I left my review. To me, that is sad. They have my money and, it seems, no further interest.

Set up a sales call and spoke with…

Set up a sales call and spoke with Matthew. Worked out all the prices and sent Tax exempt number in waited a week with no Quote. Called left message for Matthew no response. After multiple emails and a second call Matthew called back say my quote slipped through the cracks. Was told i would have quote in 24 hours. 3 Days later finally got quote and it was completly wrong. Called back again asked for supervisor was told i would get call back that day. 2 days later still waiting for call. I would advise looking for another brand like i am.

I bought a laser and im loving it!

I bought the B10 Light diode laser direct from OMTech. I have never owned a laser and bought it to compliment my Shop Sabre router. I wanted to be able to pretty much do it all. The laser was as advertised. It came very well packaged direct from OMTech and delivered very quickly too. I think right around a week. When I first unpacked it I did notice that it looks to have been used. The diode laser module had the plastic wrap rolled up like someone started taking it off and couldn't leaving it partially on kinda like a straw wrapper, the module also had soot and smoke residue around the laser opening on bottom along with some light scratches on the unit itself. When I put it together one of the belt tightening screws has been partially stripped and binds. Maybe I got a return unit? The assembly and instructions were simple and straight forward. I had everything assembled in no time. This little laser is VERY robust its sturdy and heavier than expected. Looks to be very well made. The unit as a whole seems to work fine. The gantry doesn't slide very smooth but seems to work okay nonetheless. I decided not to return it because its an inexpensive machine and it wasn't bad enough to warrant the hassle of a return. Like I said before it seems to work okay but, I cant get it to replicate what is advertised on the commercial. I have been trying to get it to cut through 1/4 inch wood without success, even after 30 passes at full power different focal points and slow and everything in between! I'm going to keep trying i'm sure being a newbie I might be missing something simple. The software is easy and intuitive with tons of options on how to do things. I will say this laser is fun to use! Its super fun and makes your creative side run wild. I am getting tons of ideas of things to create and do on this little machine. I'm having a blast and by the way did I mention its fun!?!?!

I am trying to purchase a laser from Omtech

I am trying to purchase a laser from OMTECH and we are going on 10 days and still can't get a quote I have called multiple times and Emailed more times than I count. I did get 1 quote and it was incorrect after 6 days of emailing and calling and since then have Been unable to get any one at OMTECH to email me back with a corrected quote or anything else, I have never had to chase a company to buy anything sales is usally the one department that wants to get back to you so that you spend your money with them, If the Sales dept. is this bad at responding to me I can't even imagine how bad the service side would be if I got the Laser and needed help

I have changed my rating from 1 star to 3 so far I may update it again after I get the Laser going I did order one after having all of the problems getting the sales department to play along The Laser and all of the accessories ordered did get here very promptly and in good shape. I will review again after I get everything in place to actually use the laser at this point it does look wonderful though updated 3-21-24
