Called to cancel

Called to cancel, was offered deal but said not at this time I will call back in the fall, I was told by the representative that it will be full price when I call back… so a month later I get billed, I call back, get transferred, agent then had to put me on hold a few times before telling me that the account is closed so I shouldn’t be billed. Well, I was, so again on hold… told she will refund me the money. They have no evidence of who I talked to the last time or what was said which is a big mistake to not make them accountable! This service way too hard to cancel and my story may not be done next month. I should be able to cancel service anytime from my car and that would be convenient!

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Second time in 30 days trying to cancel service on my 2025 Chevrolet Truck. Still receiving credit card charges. On the phone for over 20 minutes and transferred twice with no resolution. I have been a loyal customer with numerous Chevrolet vehicles for many years but highly recommend that new owners do not enroll. Overpriced product and the customer service number posted gets you a no help experience. Thought I was on the phone with Sirius XM radio, same results.

Not really sure Onstar is worth the…

Not really sure Onstar is worth the money at a price of $369 a year for Onstar and that’s on the essential plan which has been changed to the basic plan it’s a good way for GM to make money and maybe if you’re in your car all the time it’s worth it but not just to drive to and from work or to the grocery store. I have to let the plan expire. The price is just too high anymore.

Deleted it, worst experience.

Deleted it! Worst customer service!! Called 5 times and received different information each time. I can’t imagine what would happen if it were an emergency. Had to explain several times that June 10-Aug 10 is not 3 months!! It’s only 2 months where I live.

Life saving!

I have had to call Onstar to help when my husband has gotten lost. He has vascular dementia and diabetes. Sometimes, he gets confused while driving alone and leaves his phone at home.
At least 5 times, I have contacted Onstar.
I feel that Onstar operators have literally saved my husbands life.
Today, he got confused and was at least an hour and a half from home.
Nadia contacted my husband and guided him to the correct highway and was able to guide him home. She was pleasant, capable, patient, compassionate and kind.
I could never put a value on Onstar and what their operators do.
May God bless Nadia and the other Onstar operators. Their jobs are not easy to do. Life saving on par with 911 operators!

Pay $25 per month just to be able to check PHEV's charge level????

All I want is to be able to check the charge level on my Volt. According to one of the many people I've spoken to at OnStar, I have to pay $25 per month to do so!

I have a Ford F150 Lightning as well. Their "Ford Pass" app is totally FREE and provides that, plus so much more!

I've bought Chevys for decades, and would have bought a Chevy truck had an EV version been available at the time. THANK GOD I went with Ford instead!

That's too bad because I consider the in-vehicle GM EV monitoring system superior, at least for a PHEV, but since I have to physically go out to the car to check the charge level, I will never by another GM EV or PHEV.

I waited 3 hours for a tow truck!!

I waited 3 hours, ON the side of the highway, in the cold for a tow truck for my 2025 Equinox that's safety system shut my car down due to something wrong with the car. We were told multiple times that the tow truck would be there in 30...40 mins...with it finally showing up over 3 hours later. Didn't tow to MY dealer. Took my car to the closest to my car and I had to take a $90 Uber ride home. RIDICULOUS. (Side note this is the 2nd time having issues with my vehicle. The 1st time it was discovered my car was manufactured missing a system cooling fan!!!)

OnStar scammed me out of $25.00

I called on 3/27/2025 to cancel my data plan the day before it was to renew. Was told it was canceled. Come to find out a few days later that it wasn’t canceled and charged my card another $25.00

OnStar has record of my contacting them when I made the second call on 3/31/2025. They refuse to reimburse me my $25.00

Their call center is worthless and they use off shore workers. The online chat is even worse. They will not take accountability for their own mistake and scammed me out of $25.00

My husband's truck broke down on a road…

My husband's truck broke down on a road from the grocery store. He got the ONSTAR to get the roadside assistance. The man's name was Ethan. My husband waited for an hour and half until he called again to check the status. His case was not on file! He had to start all over again. He is already waiting for over 2 hours. It may be another hour. 84 years old with the heart condition in Florida with the temp 86 and vehicle full of groceries. Shame on you ONSTAR.Case number 58868230

Required data package for Google assistant

I'm sorry, after purchasing a $67,000 truck, I should absolutely not be required to be forced to pay for a data package in order to use my google assistant. Talk about highway robbery. Every other vehicle I've owned has allowed me to use Google assistant via my cell phone data. Had I know this would be a thing, I never would have purchased. What a money grab.

Totally Stranded

We called OnStar for a tow due to total breakdown of our truck. We were along side a rural road with no cell service but were able to get Onstar with the button on the truck. They promised help and sent a tow truck, but one never showed. We made at least 7 attempts with Roadside assistance and after 5 hours of waiting for their promised assistance, we had to rely on a stranger to take us to our vacation home 40 minutes away. We arranged the tow service the next through our own calls- On star never came through. I have tried to call them several times over the last 4 weeks for an explanation and no one will speak with us/

Cancellation should not take multiple cancellation requests.

I just had to go through the "excruciating" process of canceling my service AGAIN. I cancelled my service a couple of weeks ago, which took what seemed like forever, because the representative repeatedly tried to convince me not to cancel. I have resigned that I'm just going to die in my car if there's an accident, because I no longer can afford to continue the service with the state of the world right now. MULTIPLE TIMES having to explain why I was cancelling...Then I got billed again. And I had to try to cancel it all over again today. And that took 34 minutes of REPEATEDLY telling this representative to CANCEL my service that I ALREADY cancelled before. Rep confirmed that the last rep never processed the cancellation.

Tried to cancel my OnStar services

Tried to cancel my OnStar services, pushed the OnStar button in my car, waited 30 minutes before giving up and hanging up. Called them on the phone the next day, told them their remote start that I am paying for only works half the time, they didn't offer any compensation just asked if I wanted to buy any other services, told her I want to cancel, she said okay and cancelled my subscription. Sure enough they went ahead and took the next months payment out of my Paypal account. Called them again and was told they would credit my paypal account back. No refund was ever given, called them yet again, they said they couldn't refund my account so they mailed me a cheque that would take 30 days. Found out they mailed the cheque to an address I haven't lived at for 3 years, asked to speak to a manager, was told they were all busy and someone would call me back. Have never recevied a call back. Horrible service! Horrible people!!

DO NOT use or pay for OnStar. Waited for over 6 hours and they never showed!

DO NOT use or pay for OnStar. They are useless. They left me on the side of the road for over 5 hours and never showed up. When I was finally able to get a hold of someone, they kept saying they can’t secure or find a tow truck yet. After 6 hours I asked if I sourced a local tow truck they would reimburse me and they said yes. I immediately called someone locally and they showed up within 30 minutes. Nevertheless to say, it’s been 2 months and I still haven’t received reimbursement, they don’t even answer my emails. Very disappointing and in my opinion, very dishonest!

On January 21,2025 | activated my…OnStar not there for You

On January 21,2025 | activated my vehicle remote start through the online app. 10
minutes later I went out to my 2021
Silverado to find that my passenger front door glass had been broken out and there was glass on the ground and through out the interior of my vehicle. Personal items and tools had been stolen from my vehicle.
I called the sheriff department, my auto insurance, and OnStar! OnStar told me that they had received notification that my factory alarm system had been activated, but they OnStar had not notified me of the break-in. They said they would investigate to determine why such a failure had occurred! This was over a month ago and I have called OnStar every week without fail and they never have responded back to me! If you are considering buying OnStar for this added security, based on my experience, THINK TWICE!

Having a nightmare sign up

Having a nightmare sign up. Press the blue button in the car. Someone from the Philippines answers the phone. Their English is so broken, they give me a fake name Jack. No Filipino has the name as Jack and there English is so bad. I just gave up after several tries. Definitely this is a bad company, they don’t have answering service in Canada.

You can't get rid of them, don't trust

They don't have a cancellation option on the website. They have but I cancelled my service on 12/03 and they charged me again this month. I couldn't get rid of them. Worst service ever. I'm going to my bank and dispute that charge
