SIM Never Delivered; R387 Refund Still Unresolved

We paid R387 for OpenWeb’s MTN Mobile Uncapped 2Mbps SIM-only service. As of 17 October 2026, we had not received the SIM, so we never inserted it into a router or used the internet service.

We repeatedly followed up about the missing SIM and confirmed our delivery address. On 12 October, OpenWeb said the debit-order mandate was awaiting DebiCheck approval. We repeatedly checked our banking app, but no request appeared. On 15 October, we formally asked OpenWeb to cancel the service and SIM order, stop future debit instructions, make no further charges, and refund the R387. OpenWeb referred us to its one-calendar-month cancellation policy without confirming the refund.

On 16 October, OpenWeb confirmed receiving the payment and said it was still waiting for the mandate to be completed. On 17 October, it said the account was already active, would close at the end of November, and the SIM was being sent. That needs a clear explanation, especially after we had cancelled.

OpenWeb’s Terms of Service describe a pro-rata refund after the tenth working day for delayed SIM delivery, while its separate Refund Policy says there are no refunds for non-use or monthly services. We want OpenWeb to reconcile those statements, confirm cancellation and no further charges, and refund the R387.

The repeated follow-ups and contradictory updates caused unnecessary stress. We cannot recommend OpenWeb based on this experience. We will update this review if the matter is fairly resolved.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!
Months after I have cancelled after receiving the worst contract deal, I am still getting emails uploading all my details to their client portal as a registered client! You will never ever be able to speak to a real person ONLY WHATSAPP! They will never refund your money for a defunct faulty product and no matter how much you report them you will have no joy whatsoever! They hassle you endlessly with BS!

SCAMMERS

On 25th April 2026 I made a payment for the month Of May, a new month to month lte package. The package cost me R897 per month.
I received the sim card on 6th May and it was activated on the 7th May.
On the 16th May for some reason they throttled my sim card with speeds barely above 0.40 MBPS.
You cannot phone OpenWeb, they will not speak to you so I sent a WhatsApp message informing them of the issue. Got zero response.
On the 18th May i sent an email begging for some feedback to my messages and emails, they did get back to me saying they have open a ticket and asked for speedtests which i sent to them.
Zero feedback since then.
I place a cancellation request and was told I have to give a full calendar month so I have to pay until end June with little to zero service
IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND WANTING TO USE OPENWEB, BE VERY VERY CAREFUL. THEY ARE SCAMMERS

SCAM!!!!

Firstly, they completely deleted my website with no warning whatsoever. They don’t have any form of phone number so you cannot call them. Their WhatsApp line gets zero response. So I opened a ticket on their website. I got a response 4 weeks later after opening my ticket saying that I missed payments so the website was deleted. Even though they gave me no notice or notification whatsoever. They are the definition of a scam = uncontactable.

Beware of Openweb

I activated a month to month service LTE SIM through OpenWeb ISP in mid February 2026. The SIM worked for a mere week after activation. It then stopped working during the first week of March 2026. The SIM could not be detected in any device (router or two phones) from the first week of March 2026. On 8 March I complained to support. I sent them photos, a video, and the ICCID (serial number of SIM) multiple times. We troubleshooted for days but they continued asking for the same troubleshooting over and over instead of replacing it or cancelling. They simply kept on kicking the can down the road. I then submitted a formal cancellation on 12 March 2026 via their website and email for a non working product and service. They only issued a cancellation reference number on 16 March and insisted on billing me until the end of April 2026, even though I never received any usable service since the first week of March 2026 (06/03/2026). I was billed for March and April 2026. They have violated my rights as a consumer by failing to provide a functioning product and service and continue to Debit. This company refuses to acknowledge my emails and do not answer the landline or support on whatsapp. One can not even visit a physical office. I am taking further steps. But let this be a warning to anyone doing business with OpenWeb. I should have done my due diligence before embarking on this nightmare of a company.

Debit Order Scammers

Openweb sales are fast and thereafter the poor service starts. Delivery does not take place and when you eventually cancel they keep on debiting your account. You pay for a service you never got. Would stay far away from these people.

I made a payment to Openweb and they…

I made a payment to Openweb and they could not verify the payment despite me sending the POP .
I had to call Netcash - who called Openweb to sort out.
Then I waited 3 weeks for deliver and another 3 days for my line to be activated . The line I was promised was a 5mbps but received a line speed that never went above 1mbps. I was stuck with this package for an entire month cos i could only change package on the 1st of the month.
Got the second package 10mbps - still same difference - on the 2 Feb I cancelled my package and was told by Zelda that my cancellation will only be done at the end of March .
And the worst part is I when I told Zelda I work for CellC and know the cooling off period and I know its 5 days - she asks me why doI want to take a contract with another ISP- attitude
Zelda and her team are fast asleep and Openweb is selling Speeds that they do not deliver.
Bad Service and attitude

Think carefully before choosing OpenWeb

Sales is awesome, fast and helpful when making the sale. Once the sale is complete you can expect nothing but shitty service from there on. The call centre agents are rude, cocky and impatient (Clinton & Louise). I purchased 2x subscription, 1x works perfectly from the getgo and the other one does not work at all. I have called and left messages, send WhatsApp messages as well as emails, no one calls back, emails are slow and unhelpful, and WhatsApp is just as useless. I have been without wifi for a week and I am literally being ignored. I am generally understanding, calm and friendly but man these rude agents have really had me runting and raving like a lunatic....regardless, the issue had still not been resolved

USELESS BUNCH OF THIEVES

NEVER use any services from this company openweb.co.za.

Purchased hosting & transferred a domain:

Domain transfer: A few days after transferring and paying you I emailed support asking how long does it take to transfer the domain because it read “Pending” received a reply 4 DAYS LATER from Leon (aka CEO of Google that's who he thinks his is) well long story, eg. accusing me of treating his staff like dirt etc… although his was the ONLY PERSON that emailed me, “domain is locked” so I got ANOTHER epp code and sent it to him a few hours later “2 DAYS LATER again from Leon domain is locked” bear in mind at this time my site was down so I went with another company “it was sorted a FEW HOURS LATER my SITE was LIVE".

Hosting: pointless because my domain wasn’t transferred.

So this is what you GET from Openweb:

THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY.

SUPPORT: will reply 4 DAYS LATER then 2 after you reply and still NOT RESOLVE your problem.

WHATSAPP: will reply 3 DAYS LATER.

REFUND: on WhatsApp they will tell you to contact admin-openweb.co.za it's DAY 16 NO REPLY, just a automated mail: Your unique ticket number is: 5706941

I have been using OpenWeb for over 10…

I have been using OpenWeb for over 10 years now and have move from ADSL, to LTE and now finally on to their Fibre product. I have never had an issue and have always received excellent customer service from the team.
